  1. Wheels now glued! Got slipper clutch and new servo saver fitted, still waiting for other parts. Still not happy with steering, wont go straight unless i keep correcting it with the stick, has anyone else had the same problem? my servo seems ok, perhaps I need a Hi-Torque Servo. My batter only last 10 mins on full tilt, so i think its Lipo time. I have been looking at the ORION CARBON EDITION 30C 3800 MAH 7.4V LIPO BATTERY PACK. Advice anyone?
  2. Hey i hear Hammond on your best looking buggy comment! I have a Dark Impact and a Vintage Hotshot and it just looks so much better! there is just something about the Hotshot!
  3. Thanks for the info, I will check them out and get one ordered. The ebay seller is compassho2005, I won the motor in one of there auctions. My battery is an Intellect 3600 Ni-Mh, had it for about a year, not used it a great deal and it holds its charge and I used to get about 20 mins with my old 21 turn motor going full speed. I may look at getting another one, but this time go for a 4600, can anyone tell me if this is a decent make and what shoudl I look at paying for a 4600. Also my tyres spin on the rims, whats best glue to use? Thanks.
  4. Cheers for the info guys, I will get them ordered. I decided to have a quick bash last night and decided to try it out carefully. It took me about 30 mins to solder the connectors and fit the motor and esc in my DI, bit of a tight fit but its in perfect, pics to be posted soon. I took it to a local very large very smooth car park just for a test and OMG its so fast! smooth and responsive. My DI seems to have bit of an issue with the steering, looks like its the arm thats fits to the servo ,it has movement in it and the car would not go straight, which i thought to be very risky now it goes so fast. I modified an old style servo arm I has in a load of spare parts, fitted the ball joint and its spot on. Has anyone else had a simmalar issues with there DF-03's steering? I can highly recomend the 5.5t EzRun motor & ESC combo, fantastic value at 63 delivered and really fast delivery. can i mention the EBay store I purchased it from?
  5. Just took delivery of my EzRun 5.5t setup, it only took a week and a half to arrive from Hong Kong! I will be fitting it in my DI tonight, just one question before i do: Should I concider a slipper clutch? The EzRun come with a program board so I can set the rate of set of. Comments please.... Thanks, Danny.
  6. Just won a 5.5T EzRun on Ebay for 62 delivered. What do you think, its done now.....
  7. Wow cheers for the reply's, I am in Chorley. Looks like I need to get a brushless setup and Lipo's, I have beel looking on EB*y and there are brushless setups from Hong Kong that look ok. I think the make is eZRun/Hobbywing, are they any good? What are the heatsink bars and does anyone have any pics? Comments anyone? Thanks, Danny.
  8. Thanks for that, I will get them contacted and see what's what. Not raced since I was 14, so alot can change in 20 years, lol If they have a vintage section I might even try my old Hotshot!! Cheers, any other comments welcome.
  9. Just purchased a mint Dark Impact of ebay, its not a mark on it! Sold my faithfull old Gravel Hound to my brother. Now looking to upgrade the motor from the Standard RS540 can, I have an ANSMANN CLASH 21 MOTOR which has had a few runs, not great i know but i would like to start racing and could do with some advise. I dont want to turn up with a fancy motor and not be able to race as its way to fast, looking for some advise on starting racing and a new motor or 2. Southport is the closet track i know. Thanks, Danny.
  10. Cheers for the advise, I am going to do a: Full stripdown and clean Re-grease everything Re-fill my shocks May even get some hop up shoocks
  11. Tried to get the paint of with a number of things but to no avail, seems to come of when scraped with a plastic scraper, bit of a long job so I may just get some new wheels or scrape them when i have absolutly nothing else to do lol. I recently purchased a Gravel Hound from Ebay for a decent price to give my 22 year old Hotshot a rest. It needed a clean up and re grease, on its first few runs is seemed really slow, it has a tuned 27T motor in it. My Hotshot has an old vintage Demon 27T motor in it and it absolutly fly's its really really quick!!, so i deceded to borrow the motor from my Much loved Hotshot and try it in the Gravel Hound, to be honest there was a bit of a diference so I think it may be down to the gearing or perhaps just need to buy a faster motor for Hound. I know the Gravel Hound is much newer more robust and more nimble but it does not give me the same buzz as the hotshot, looks wise also the Hotshot is fantastic! It has to be my fave Tamiya ever! No wonder they are re releasing it. Comments anyone.......
  12. Thanks for the gear advise, i printed the page from the manual and set it up last night to the correct setting, it seemed to fix it, still al ittle noise but not meshing tightly anymore. What diference will it make with the 67tooth hopup pinion be compared to the standard one? Going to my local modelshop on Saturday and will see what deal they can do me on an ESC and motor. Can anyone advise as to what running time i will get on the following. (Roughly) And how fast are they likley to be? Decent Tuned 27T motor and a 3600 battery? Decent Tuned 23T motor and a 3600 battery? Decent Tuned 19T motor and a 3600 battery?
  13. Superb, thank for that! I will pop to my model shop on Saturday and see what they have in. Bit of a problem at moment though I gave it a run last night and its making a loud whiring noise from the rear gear box, so I took pf the casing and held the motor down tested it on my bench stand and it was still making the whiring noise, i lifted the motor slightly tested it again and it then ran quietly but as soon as i pushed it down into possition it went noisy again. It would apear that its causing to slow the car down, not good at all, could it be a problem with the pinion gears? Not sure if the chap who had it before me put the wrong motor pinion gear on, I have counted the teeth and they total 19, is this right? Thanks.
  14. Nice one, cheers guys! I will take your advise and am gona get the sterring sorted along with the shocks and get the DF-03 Tyres. What motor would be good? Makes etc.. I want it fast but not to eat my battery in 2 mins. I have a new Intelect 3600 battery and am about to buy a new speed controller, what will the stock one handle? My plan is to get a Dark Impact but want to get my skill up before I do. Thanks.
  15. I have just purchased a gravel hound from Ebay for an absolute bargin price, I deceded it best to to give my Vintage Hotshot a rest. WHat are the best mods and how good can i get this car? Motor's Suspension etc... I look forward to your answers people... Thanks.
