  1. yeah, just. worst thing was i was back there today (sunday) playing football. In the wind and rain this time!, great pics anyway, best of luck
  2. I'll vouch he was there too, as can a few other people.
  3. The wide rears are part #53231, can be found on ebay and i have seen them in time tunnel models/goldstar stockists too i think. If i'm not mistaken the fronts are regular touring car size.
  4. i've just read the whole thread on the EZ run that is a couple of entries down on this general discussions page and it seems they are now going for somwhere in the region of 40. they used to be cheaper but seeing as the economy is useless at the moment the pound isn't worth much. If you read that whole thread you will find out everything you need to know about the system, and in particular read TA Marks comments and anything Biggus Ditchus has to say. they are experienced guys. There is also a vid or two on the thread to look at just to whet your appetite!
  5. don't have one myself, but have heard nothing but good things about them, and having seen one run i have been impressed. They seem to be well worth the money, and there is one company on ebay that regularly accepts quite low offers so you can get them at a steal! I have a couple of other makes of brushless and the difference isn't just/mainly the speed its the prolonged battery times as they are more efficient and the fact you don't have to clean them out often, if at all, or obviously change brushes which can be a real nut ache! That will be a huge step up from your silver can and will make for some interesting and rapid skill development!! The number of turns doesn't equate exactly across from what i believe, if it says 9t on the brushless i don't think that would be the same as a brushed 9t motor but I may be wrong about that. Its only my perception of other things i have read on here. There are many threads on here about the EZ run and i think there is something in them that will give you better info than me. Don't wanna misinform you so better waiting for someone more knowledgeable to drop by. Someone like Terry sc or TA Mark will explain the benefits and comparisons between brushed and brushless. In all though, if you think you can handle the dramatic step up from a 540 to a brushless then the EZ run is a great place to start. I know i'm gonna get a couple in the new year and start converting everything over.
  6. personally I would look at something quicker but thats just what I prefer. Remember the quicker the motor you use the larger the draw on your battery so your packs won't last as long. As singapore 959 said before, looking at larger capacity batteries is just as important. They are essentially the fuel your car would run on. You wouldn't run a Formula One car on normal unleaded and the same applies here. In terms of cost though you can get some good motors around the 20T region which wouldn't be a huge, sudden step up in speed which is harder to handle (you break more if you crash at a faster speed!!) and are very reasonable in price. There is an HPI 20T motor on modelsport (again!!) which only costs around a fiver and would be a decent progression from a silver can. With that ESC there is still plenty of room for progression in the future in terms of motor size, when you have a little more running time under your belt.
  7. better than an mtroniks if you can see past all the wires! just sat mine in my Dark Impact then. Fits well with room to spare
  8. if you're UK based then, modelsport are good and deliver quickly. Usually! I put a little link in the last post that will take you straight to their esc page. I should be on commission.....
  9. yep, dynamite Tazer. Handles 12 turn motors and is available for about 25. Good little esc for the cost an deasy to set up like the Mtroniks. Modelsport UK used to have them, i'll check in a mo. Whereabouts are you? click this link. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...tegoryID=992020 The first one is the one i mentioned, but the second one down, which i haven't seen before, seems good value too. anyone reading this ever seen an etronix 12t esc that could possibly comment on it?
  10. welcome on board! unfortunately it wont handle that motor no, the number of turns that the esc can handle (in this case 27) needs to be equal or lower than the number of turns on the motor. Lower is better, if it is equal then things are running at the absolute limit. will work fine still that way, don't worry, but the other option is better
  11. good stuff, there is a few then. Should be able to get enough video to hog the movies section again!!!
  12. Palfertronic, have a look at this. I thought the same as you, that maybe it won't be that bad..... er, I was wrong http://www.tamiyaclub.com/moviecomment.asp...7&uid=20902 Spetz brings up a good point that pen type cameras are the best, the flycamone seems to be the one of choice at the moment
  13. Neils workin mate, Jamie still not sure either. He said he might come down if he finishes work but he's gotta bring his little girl and no cars. (Quoi??) Says she is too young to to be allowed to run around which is fair enough. As long as we've got five or six then, its no problem. Bring your woolies, gonna be a bit of a breeze coming in off the Irish Sea there tomorrow!
  14. you sound gutted to be sat in a nice warm house all day!! the numbers are diminishing Rich, can those who are going confirm to see if its worth it pls? We got myself, Biggus and Mad Mini that I know of. You still interested Nightowl2912?
  15. If you leave the red boxes on though you could say you are doing a jamie booth copy!
  16. yep bring it on! hopefully something will work this time!
  17. don't know an exact make but you would probably need some kind of helmet cam that mountain bikers or skateboarders use. Spycam types are small enough but probably won't shoot at high enough frames per second (fps). whatever you look to buy check the fps rate, the higher the better. 30fps is probably the minimum requirement.
  18. if i was you i'd just bring it, somebody might know how! looks like we're gonna have good few there anyway. see you all there
  19. by the way, do you know that most suppliers (especially hobbyco/cml) won't supply to you unless you have a shop? they do this to stop people running online only stores from home/lockups etc and therefore undercutting existing model stores due to lower overheads. if you have a premises to trade from, fair enough, but without it will be difficult. don't wanna pee on a bonfire or anything, just raising points that you may or may not know
  20. i think the item you have circled is the power capacitor, that is what is usually connected to brushless esc's. can't help you with the wiring sorry.
  21. hi there, i have recently been looking into the same thing myself but have decided with the current economic climate to put it on bacxk burner for a while. i did get some great info and advice from canvassing here on TC but one of the best bits of advice i got was this. to gather your information you probably know you need to do market research. This forum is very good and people have some invaluable info so to record it all visit here:- http://www.surveymonkey.com/ set up an account and link it to this forum, easy. here is the thread with a link to my survey that i ran a while a go http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?...c=45668&hl= good luck mate, if i can help drop me a line as i have about 80% of a business plan complete as i need to secure funding to start it. its something i am going to continue working on and pick up at a later date when A) i know more! people have some money to spend!! hope this helps
  22. with the crp front mounts, i have 60mm front and 80mm rear, yeah racing bought from RCMart and if i remember rightly didn't set me back a fortune. I much prefer it to any original shocks but never tried the re re rears so couldn't comment. i also think they look much better. basically the same as hunter zero has said so for the curious of you yeah racing shocks are a very good option in my opinion
  23. i've been thinking about one of these, http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=28015 i know its not top end or anything but i'm not a racer so not too important, i like the idea of not bothering with crystals though. any thoughts anyone? and singapore_959 maybe a cheaper alternative for you
  24. nearly there fellas!! i was just wondering if we could have a roll call so there is some idea of how many are gonna be there? shame about terry and tamiyamonkey, but obviously i'm in with neinei who never comes on the forum (its our debut bash!!) and youngy who has been up to ainsdale. who else?
  25. fine by me, just in time to get a maccies breakfast
