Tamiya Axles Separately Available
m.l.field replied to monster_beetle's topic in General discussions
Except the TLT is the narrowest of them, so more suitable for scale builds. -
Which will end up something like this, which is a DF-01 Dirt Thrasher with FF-01/TA-02 chassis tub. It's still a work in progress and only 2wd at the moment.

I haven't held any of them up to the FJ body, but the CR chassis is about 11" wheelbase so Hilift / CC-01 / DF01 (Hummer/Cayenne) should all be pretty close. Or just get some TLT/350 axles and make your own.

Well my email has the same codes so It should work for anyone.

Problems With Making Text On Tutorials
m.l.field replied to WildeWillem's topic in General discussions
To put in a line break you need to use the HTML
. So I got a problem!

I have made a tutorial on the tamiya club. Now they have a textbox where you can put your text in. Would appear as -
Bit of a guess, but sounds like the ball diffs aren't done up tight enough.

TL-01 set may be the best if you only want 1150 bearings as that's all the TL-01 uses, 24 of them so you get a few spares.

Hmm, I'd better build some cars this week then Land-Rover is currently in pieces, TLT stayed as a TLT for about 3 hours after arrival and new Land-Rover isn't finished yet. Should be there with something even if it's just the bitsa and a couple of buggies.

The Best And Worst Rc Car You Ever Had ?
m.l.field replied to wilo in aus's topic in General discussions
Personally I strip and rebuild just about anything I buy before running it anyway, whoever built it. -
Leaning the shocks more would give a greater wheel movement for a given amount of shock movement, but the effect would be to stiffen the suspension anyway so you'd need softer springs not harder.

I think you'll find that Australian caravans do sit higher than European caravans.

Is It Available? Tamiya Cr-01 Toyota Land Cruiser 40
m.l.field replied to donut's topic in General discussions
Except if you read the questions the seller doesn't actually have any yet to sell, and only has a feedback of 15. I wouldn't be sending them my money. -
Camel Land Rover Defender Scale Build
m.l.field replied to monster_beetle's topic in General discussions
It doesn't have rivets, but it will have a line of visible spot welds in pretty much the same place. -
Isn't it about time HPI was added to that list? There's a HPI SIG but the cars have to be added to showrooms as misc.

My next purchase will probably be another Kamtec series Land-Rover body. This time I want to cut it in half and stretch it into a S2 lwb, it'll either go on the Hummer chassis I've just bought on ebay or I might go for something a bit more capable on F350 / TLT axles if funds will allow. Only other thing that appeals is a rere Pajero for the chassis to put my S2 LR on.

Top Gear have done similar Clicky Here

Painting will be much the same as any other hard body, and I don't see why the abs shells shouldn't be reasonably durable. The Land-Rover that I've got is about 1 - 2 mm thick so lightweight isn't something that can be expected though. They're vac formed so don't expect Tamiya levels of detail and the series LR takes a bit of work to get something that is acceptably semi scale, properly scale would take a huge amount. I can't comment on the others as I've not seen them.

Painting Brake Lights On A Lexan Shell - Need Advice Please.
m.l.field replied to CeriT's topic in General discussions
I'd back the transparent red / orange with silver before doing the rest of the shell. Otherwise especially with black you're going to struggle to distinguish the lights. -
Near to where? If you're near Preston I'll do them. As for the soldering iron 25W is plenty for doing electrical connections, though the tip size and shape makes a difference flat being better than pointed.

As Ryan says, tin the connector and tin the end of the wire before trying to attach them to each other. To hold the connector whilst doing this I just lightly clamp it in the vice on the workbench, they only take a few seconds each to do.

Did you get my vote via forum PM? I tried to send it via the main site but just got bounce messages
-
That would be my suggestion too. Except that I think if you use a TA02 and swap the tub for a manta ray / blazing star item it'll give you the longer wheelbase anyway, or you could use a Hummer chassis which is basically the same.

30th March or 6th April I'm probably out competing in a 1:1 car 12/13 April so possibly struggle to get there on 13th. PS processing today's pics now so will update showroom with a selection later. If anyone wants more of a specific car let me know as I won't be adding all 260+ pics
