Now before I do all this I need a bit of feed back from you all (or as many of you as possible) as to continue with the content transfer, because this is going to take time, were as if we leave the content behind and just transfer we can be back up and running very soon once I've tweaked one or two of the setting on this new one (sounds like I'm trying to get out of this - but hey this will save time).Admin
(* change to stronger words if you feel the need too)
p.s.: If you can not log in to the forum then please email me via northwestnuttersrc@googlemail.com, this has been specialy set up for this in particular.
If you're going to transfer content then it only makes sense if it is to a permanent new home. How much of the content has longlasting value anyway, as opposed to just chatter?
I've sent an email to the above address anyway.

2 months since the last reply to this thread, what's happened aren't there any NW meets anymore?

Right chaps time for something a little further north for a change, Beacon Fell was somewhere we tried last year and was great except for the weather being a little uncooperative so a meet there on the 25th January. Hope to see as many of you there as possible.Unfortunately I can't make it that weekend as I'm competing in a 1:1 scale in Devon but have fun, and for those that haven't been before there are pictures from the last one in my showroom.

Ok, hopefully be there sometime just after 12.
Better go out to the garage now and see what I can get working

TA-03R I think. Don't think you'll find a Mini shell to fit it though, afaik all the Mini shells are M size.

That was the Model Engineering Exhibition and it's still there, it just concentrates on model engineering now rather than having all those extra hobbies (such as an r/c car racing meeting) distracting from the core interest. The Model engineering show I remember going to a couple of times in the mid '80s was held at Wembley.

eBay have been changing things again, this probably won't affect many here except the few that have a shop.
http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/200808.shtml#2008-08-20113015
Though it could mean that some sellers of small items disappear and you can't buy from them.
I haven't decided if this is good for me or not yet, probably just have to wait and see

AFAIK everyone will get the new version eventually. Don't think I've actually bought anything rc related on ebay for about 3 months.
-
its ok if you have only 1 or 2 cars to take. But I will have to bring a few moreYou shouldn't break so many then
I should be there, don't know what with I've barely touched any since Beacon Fell. Does this mean I've got a deadline for finishing the Land-Rover

Here's mine

and Sankey
As Biggus said the mesh on mine was from B&Q, think it was about 5-7 for a sheet big enough to do 2 trailers. The chassis on both of mine is steel U and angle welded together, Sankey body is styrene.

What a mook! Brilliant on the refusal to accept. The only thing that will really happen to him though, is he will have to pay shipping again, but if his postmaster is cool, like mine, he/she will just let that slide and give the package back to him. But the customs form has a tracking number on it and it will show it was returned, so PayPal should go in your favor, they will refund you the full $950 and pull that full $950 amount from him and keep the transactio fees for both transaction. Thats why they will likely decide in your favor, it means easy dual fees for them. PayPal is a bunch of crooks.Only if there is anything in his account to refund. If he's withdrawn it then you may not get anything that way. Chargeback on your CC is the best bet if you funded it that way through PayPal.

Maybe the message is getting through that the new FB system doesn't work.

I quite like it, agreed a hard body would be better especially for the rear bed. The 2.2 tyres actually look ok on this unlike the monster truck look of the Toyota. Not sure I'd buy one, but it does at least now have possibilities beyond a pair of axles and a transmission.
-
I need to order a transmission from RC4WD so I can get on with finishing this

The other difference besides where the shackles are from a 1:1 is that most of the Hi-Lifts travels is upwards, on a 1:1 with leaves there'll be more downward than upward travel. A leaf sprung Land-Rover has about 2-3" of up travel but 2-3x that downwards.
-
Exactly like that or just any metal rod ends?
RC4wd do m3 and m4 rod ends, I've not used them so can't vouch for quality just seen them when browsing.

The eBay feedback rules are horrable all the way around, especially for us honest sellers, it allows the scammers and REMOVEDs to run rampant without fear of the retaliation of getting their well deserved Negative Feedbacks!Agree 100%. The new rules are a mess, and with the way the DSRs are being calculated anybody that sells low volumes needs to be very careful as a neg or a couple of neutrals could see you suspended even if they are the first you've received out of several hundred transactions.

The Australians here might want to look at http://www.tamebay.com/2008/06/paypal-only...aft-ruling.html

Hello, I'll try and add something here some of which may have already been suggested. What you need to achieve is 2 roughly equal diffuse light sources, one on each side.
I think you're earlier pictures have 2 problems, the mixed light sources and on my monitor at least they look under exposed. I suspect large areas of white have fooled the camera's meter.
Setup I'd suggest is to put a 100W+ halogen each side of the tent. Then note the cameras meter reading and set it to that in manual mode, you'll also need to set the camera's white balance to halogen/tungsten/indoor or at about 3200K or shoot in RAW format if you can.
Then take a test shot, if it's too dark then you need to increase the exposure so if your original setting was 1/90 sec @f5.6 try it at 1/60 sec @ f5.6. You may need to take several tests, but once you have the right exposure settings it should be repeatable if you use the same lights.
Another way of doing it indoors, would be to put them on a table next to a window and hang something reflective such as tin foil on the side opposite the window to bounce the light back.
It's not an RC pic, but this was taken using that method in January in the UK.
Once you've got the lighting right I'd suggest moving the model as far forward as possible and playing with the depth of field so that the backdrop is out of focus.
Hmm, I'm not sure how clearly that is written but if you've got any questions I'll try and answer.

I'm after an Escort WRC bodyset, You can just buy all of the bits separately from tamiya Directly (shell, decals and H-parts) but they dont put them all in the brown WRC box anymore (Unfortunately I want that brown box and little pic). That seller you link to had one and was after $400! There's no way I would pay 200 for something when I can get all of the contents for 25.. even if I want the box..I've got one of the boxes floating about somewhere.

If you split it into 2 parcels would royal mail accept it then? May be cheaper than one parcel through the likes of DHL.

I suppose the tools i've used that wouldn't immediately be thought of as useful for 1/8 - 1/10scale stuff are the oxy acetylene welding torch and full size angle grinder. Welding rod is very useful stuff too, and copper brake pipe.

I think I shall be ordering a cayenne and then lifting my Tb02 suspension onto it as at least that will get rid of my diff problems even if the DF01 does have a more old fashioned and less sharp steering systemDoes anyone know if the cayenne comes with bearings?
Cheers
Ryck
If you're going to swap the suspension arms anyway you could just get a Manta ray or blazing star, plenty of quite good rolling chassis come up on ebay quite cheap. Unless you actually want the Porsche body that is.

Unfortunately I can't make next Sunday as I'm doing a road rally Saturday night so will most likely be asleep.
