Gotta say I'm not digging it, really surprised they did not copy the original more in size and design, could be a good thing, but so could easier to find rere parts. I've been looking forever for a Turbo roof plate, made out of unobtainium I tell ya! Mike

Nice TS you have! Good to know about the medium length shocks fitting stock rear tower. Race Prep also made a rear tower for the gold shocks. I am going to use Gallop 2 shocks on my racer.

Have never seen those before, like the look of them.

I've been using old crp coilovers and springs, were sold as ayk but fit the original srb shocks.

It has arrived! Overall not too bad, need to replace a few parts here and there, looks like it had a pretty hard crash to the front. I soaked it with wd-40 and every screw I turned came loose so far. If anybody has spare parts let me know. Thanks Mike

The seller did make it clear that it had been in a flood. He said nothing is seized, everything turns freely. We shall see, should be here next week, I wait, impatiently! Should be fun, I really enjoy stripping down cars and putting them back together. Mike

Just bought an Optima probably shouldn't have, but I'm cheap and I like junk. Been watching for one for the last few weeks after getting a Optima Mid for a good price, really impressed with the design of the Mid. Prices on nice Optimas seem to be on the rise, and figured they will only go up. Only experience I had with Kyosho was a USA 1 my buddy had, kept twisting dogbones and couldn't keep up with my modified Clod. He finally traded it in for a used Clod. Here's a few pics of the Optima, pretty rough but restorable I think. I plan on a pb blaster soaking and strip down, cleaning, new screws, etc.. Should be fun!

Looks like a nice one to restore, you have the hardest part to find which is a nice body. Will be watching for your rebuild. Have fun! Mike

The rears I have are identical to the originals with the Off Roader lettering except for the added 2 small stars. They were sold by Race Prep. Also have the very similar tires with no lettering a little wider and called vari trak, they have molded v's in them, also sold by Race Prep. Something how all these companies were selling different hop ups, back then.

You would think with Tamiyaclub being the largest forum for Vintage Tamiya, somebody would have started something for the old hop ups, maybe this will kick it in gear. Back to the garage! Mike

Thanks for the reply T! I will probably put the Wizard body up for trade. Anybody interested? The rough rider bodies look pretty close as far as I can tell, if I posted a pic would anybody be able to tell for sure?
