Trick to putting the Scorcher nose cone on?
scootmike replied to scootmike's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Not sure what you mean? -
Finished painting a Scorcher re re body, didn't realize how tight the nose cone fits. Any trick to mounting it without scratching the paint? Had one tip from a buddy who said to spread the fenders and gently install from the bottom. Care to share your experiences, good or bad?

Well that didn't take long, 1st mistake was using a wax and oil remover, used it on metal, not made for plastic, went to rub the body down and it started melting the plastic Used it on a small spot that I was able to sand down after it dried. Ended up painting 2 bodies, will put them in my showroom later tonight.

I'm giving it a go today on a SS shell, haven't painted a shell in years. Going to try the Krylon Fusion paint. Hope I don't screw it up

Sand Scorcher mirrors questions

They look like they would be pretty easy to make, funny how some parts are just not easy to find, run into that a lot. -
Sand Scorcher mirrors questions

On the original Scorcher it has small brackets to mount the mirrors, on the re re it uses o-rings. -

I just ran into this today, I'm in the US, sold some parts to a guy in Belgium. He asked me to lower the value, the problem with this is if I lower the value I cannot insure the parts for what he paid. If the parts don't turn up paypal takes the full payment out of my account and sends it back to the buyer. I'm fine with that as long as I insure it for the full value. I don't want to sell parts for $180 and get $20 back from insurance. I guess the only answer is insure full value or don't ship overseas. -
What to do with this sad Scorcher shell?
scootmike replied to scootmike's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Her pics were some I looked at, I'm going to give it a shot at saving it first. I am going to have to cut up a rere though, I really like what she did with the fenders. I've added more pics to my showroom. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=124047&sid=985 -

By plastic card you are talking about styrene sheets? Any links or pics of repairs? I am amazed at some of the repairs done by modellers, I want to join the club I found pics here on TC on a SS repair a few months ago, for the life of me I can't find them now. -
This poor body came in a lot, will have to save it somehow! Lets hear your suggestions, no pitch it in the bin, please

Banzai has some new parts listed, carbon shock mounts, black wheels, tires, red wing, etc.. Happy to see this stuff coming out -
Had to search for that name, have never heard of it. Is this it? http://www.amazon.com/DETTOL-First-Aid-Antiseptic-Liquid/dp/B000GCRX6G Does it really work?

Was tearing down my new built never completed Hot Shot to replace the dog bones with some old Race Prep bones when I found the dreaded cracked arms. I plan on lightly running this after adding a bunch of hop ups, would the re re arms fit like originals?
-
You have done a great job on this! Gives me hope of saving my trashed Champ bodies.

Ha ha, too scared of burning my house down is more like it I kid I kid, I've got nicads from 10-15 years ago, some older than that and they still work. I do have some of the nmh's that I plan to use in my Hi Lift and some of the newer models I have, most of my old cars have old electronics, so they are happy with the nicads.
-
I'm still using nicads

I agree with Shodog, keep an eye out for an original, here is a link to an RC10 I bought yesterday off the bay, was really considering a re re, sooo glad I waited. They are still out there, this cost a whole lot less than a re re, of course the same could be said of the Scorpion, but they are fewer and far between. IMHO the re re Scorpion is actually an upgrade over the original. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=123841&id=985
