  1. Thanks pizzachaude . I have a few of those brown boards MSC new from kits i bought. over the years. Love the 959 & Celica .
  2. Looks great to me. The decals will hide a lot of little blemishes so it will be fine. Whats a nice project and maybe one day I will get one since ***** have so many parts for them now. @ pizzachaude are these MSC rare as I have a few with that colour board or is it a little different to the non 959 MSC with the same board??? From memory it was the 959 to feature that new board .
  3. Personal preference. Around 80% of drive is to the rear. So the rear is the first to go. Ever driven a 4wd car with the rear tranny discounted & see how it goes?
  4. Was done by Team Pit Stop here in OZ. Cost more to buy then a rc10 or a Yokomo too!!!!
  5. Yep File some away of the back of the bevel gear as you pointed and test it. A little at a time to it's free.. Won't take too long.
  6. XV you are on it..... With the metal gears I have only used the metal drive pinion that runs from spur gear shaft to the main diff gear. I had to file the gear down a tiny bit as it was binding once screwed downed . It's not much but it does need to be filed a little and your binding should be gone.
  7. I used yeah Racing Alloy shocks. 100mm for the rear and 70mm for the front. Used original shock stays & just dremeled off the original shock boss to use the Yeah alloy shock boss. A lot more travel with the longer shocks. For now I used the standard rear springs and Losi orange springs for the front. I will have to sort it out a little more but seems way better so far.
  8. Ok since it's on my Avatar I better put it up. My 2011 Re re Avante in action at Boondal. I just love the way this runs now. It was very woeful out of the box but handles the 10T brushless with ease now and gets a work out now and again. What a machine !!!!!!
  9. Yep the TT02B is a awesome platform for the price. Need to add bearings and alloy gears. You can get away with just the alloy bevel drive gear which is cheaper.. As Talieson said parts are cheap & plentiful.. Better longer throw alloy shocks transformed mine & with a 8.5T it's like a Cat with a bucket of water thrown on it.
  10. I use cheap DIY shelving systems and add them together for runners and display cars.
  11. Me too like it. Mmmmmm might have to buy one for spares me think.
  12. Haven't seen any other bodies for it either Andy.. The TT02B hasn't been out for that long. Haven't seen the pink metallic edition. Is this for sure as Stella hasn't got it listed.
  13. Yep stock gears will be a issue with anything else then a silver can. We at Boondal have a combination of metal and reinforced plastic gears at the back only as XV Pilot suggested. We are running a 8.5T combos . Alloy center shaft and a alloy Yeah racing motor mount. Most of us run modified shock locations for more droop . I personally retained stock mounting points and used longer alloy shocks for more suspension travel. All very simple mods but really transform the DT02B into a rip snorter fun racing buggy for your $$$$$ There are a lot of after market parts too.
  14. We all use a 12 or 13T Ez run combo or Inix ( Knock off version) in our Re re S/S at Boondal With a 14 or 15t pinion they are very spirited to drive while in the limits of the chassis but only just..
  15. The Super Hot Shot is in fact a stronger buggy then the Original I feel. Newer plastics and a re designed centre shaft helps.. In all honesty you have to have a big fast crash to kill it. The weakest part will be the front bumper tree. They still break quit easy Next would be arms and chassis. They break were the rear gearbox mounts too on the upper chassis box. . Maybe a full set of arms but that will be enough I say. There are a lot of common parts across the whole shot series. The most common would be the gearboxes and internals. I would be interested on what others say.
  16. My restored Super Shot in action at Boondal.
  17. Yep I remember paying $10 a bearing for my first r/c car too. R/C is so much cheaper now days with way better cars and technology . BUT it comes at a price though I feel. The quality of life is so different in today's world with a lot of families needing 2 incomes these days to make ends meet. Weekends were enjoyed with family times which now days a lot of people work through them. I use to buy every r/c magazine that was on the market pouring through the pages of new products. More so in the 80's & 90's now I just hop on the net. Great stuff but the buzz is not there. Progress always comes at a price.
  18. Hi. It looks to be pretty good but the seller did not state the most important thing. BEARINGS & being run for a hour also it may need new gears. May not either so bearings will be a must straight away if he hasn't installed them. Apart from that it's really nice. Don't think nippy is the correct word with the stock silver can 540 but that's good as the car hasn't had a hard time. Expect this to spike at the auction end as Boomerangs are now sought after and rear arms are stupidly priced now. As for price I would negotiate a price for car only & run Li Po batteries which are far superior . Good luck & enjoy r/c M/R
  19. Don't understand why the Big Wig is not Re re as they have alot in common with the Shots. I guess because it was a anniversary model . But what a awesome machine to drive. Anyone that has driven one will understand it's ;like no shot based buggies in its handling . Oh well lets hope. Never say never
  20. very nice indeed...
  21. Thanks guys. Yogi you and your crew & anyone else are most welcome to come anytime. We all would love to catch up with you guys if not soon come to our X mass BBQ meeting. Only 6 months away. Mat you have good times in Perth too. Really Australia has lots if vintage nuts all over just a shame it's such huge country to travel .. Cheers Mark
  22. As the title says its all in a day at Boondall. We had a good photographer & vintage enthusiast come along with his awesome camera. I will let the pic's do the talking. http://www.rctech.net/forum/australian-racing/548133-off-road-vintage-boondal-202.html Paul's own awesome site of vintage and modern buggies in action. http://www.brisbanemodelbuilder.com/...:wip&Itemid=58
  23. 8.5 brushless. Still sorting it out for Boondal were there are 4 others with the TT02B . Drive train is now sorted out next is better shocks with more travel .
  24. I have one that came with my TT02B and bolted it in my Frog. It's a little faster than a standard 540 but not as quick as the S/T.
