  1. I would of thought the Wild one would be able to handle a 17.5 brushless motor. Than again a brushless puts out a lot of torque and nedds to be geard higher to get the speed so that would place more strain on the gearbox. Really I would stick to a brushed motor as it was design to cope with.
  2. Hi all, Here are some pics of my restoration so far of the Supershot. Many new parts have been used. Front and rear transmission are completed. It has new suspension and diff internals. At this stage I am awaiting the arrival of a new decal sheet. It has been hard to remove the existing paint of the body shell. Will update with new pics shortly. I welcome your comments.

    Marui Galaxy!

Sorry dont have a manual. Really a pretty simple buggy. Post some pics and I will tell you what is missing. Im sure somone else will be able to help you more. Regards Mark.
  4. I have just finished my Super Shot and looks like new with the Technipower motor. Put back my Hot Shot from the left over bits. My next project is one of my Foxes out of my gave yard ( must have around 10 in bits and 2 built ) Than on my list is my Re realise Manta Ray with a few goodies left over from my Top Force Evo. I think my Kyosho Mids would be next . I really would like to get my PB Mini Mustang 2 speed into a runner. Enough work to last me for a couple yrs at my slow pace..
  5. Hi can anyone tell me what shocks will fit the Manta Ray that you can get?? Just bought a Re realise version and the shocks are junk as the pistons are molded on the shaft. I know that the Tamiya Hi Cap short shocks fit but are rare and dont want to spend a fortune. Thanks..

    Marui Galaxy!

Ahh The Galaxy.. My first R/C car. Well I can tell you the Ninja and Samuarua are far better than the Galaxy which was a up dated Hunter. Ok the gearbox is a BIG problem or more to the point the Idler gear strips out so quick. I can remember only getting a couple runs before it started to click (slip). After a lot of striped gears a managed to buy a brass gear which solved the problem. It was light and handled pretty well for buggies of that era. The speed controller was a big problem too. I ended up putting a ESC which was a huge expense back than. Good Luck the 4WD buggies were a lot better as they lerned from there mistakes.
  7. Just wondering what year was the Manta ray realised. Vintage in my country is pre 1990.. Thanks..
  8. I have owned a 05R stock Turbo and a 05H Turbo. From what I can renember the 05R was better than a stock Mabuchi and is a 27 turn. The 05H turbo was servicable and had bearings and I looked at one that I have today for a vintage project. From what I can recall it was only slightly faster than a stock 05R. I think you would be better buying a Tamiya Sport tuned motor which is similar in specs to a Technipower. From age the magnets would have got really week as its around 20yrs old now.. The 05H turbo was a servicable
  9. I remember when it came out the Avanti was standard with the Technigold so I would say Technigold to keep it authentic...
  10. I see what its like and try to help you with the Avanti decals..
  11. I bought that conversion for my Optima. It was for the Stingner MK2 but the belt didnt reach so i think I threw it in the bin. Doh.
  12. Im in the process of restoring my Super Shot. I have a Re reakise Hot Shot and a HP Suspension kit for it. I managed to pick up a Super Shot in ok condition from a racer at the track. My plans are to build a near new Super Shot out of the two. I had set of new decals for the Super Shot but sold them on E bay only last year after having them for over 7 yrs thinking I would never get one as they are so rare. Don't ask how I feel now. The Super Shot shell is ok but am finding it hard to get the paint off. I might have to spray the outside as the lexan is going cloudy after removal. Back to the subject I managed to buy a DVD of E bay about all Tamiya cars produced to yr 2000 I think. In it it has all the manuals and scans of the decal sheets of all the models too. He says that the stickers have all the correct measurements to be reproduced on photo shop. My partner works with photo shop at work and seems pretty sure she can reproduce all of them . It will be on clear vinyal that we bought at K mart but may have to backed to protect them. Will take photos when finished. That may take till the end of the year. Than I have a Fox and 2 Optima Mids to do.. Oh I race too.
  13. Well my favourite buggy by far is the Fox and Super Shot. I remember when I first saw a Fox at a local track and how smooth, fast and great handling it had and still does. I wanted one but was way too expensive for me so I had to stick with my Galaxy. The best I got was a converted Brat to Frog second hand. A couple years later i got into R/c again but in the racing seen with a Optima Turbo than the Mid. Thats when I saw a very fast well sorted out Super Shot. That was my second love for a Tamiya. About a decade later i came across a Fox near new so I managed to buy it. WellI I now have a shelf Queen and 2 runners and heaps of spares from my grave yard as i call it. I have a new Re realise Hot Shot and Frog with hop ups. But my burning desire to get a Super Shot was still there but couldnt justify the money that the good examples go for. I was talking to a guy at my track ony a couple months ago and on the subject of vintage he told me he still has a Super Shot from his years of racing in the 80's. So after a while of talking I now have a Ok condition Super Shot with instructions and the Technipower motor. For some reason I dont have any motovation to start restoring but to know I have most of my buggies from my early days seems to sastify me. I even have the buggy that was my arch enemy in my days when i raced the Optima Mid. That is restored by me which is a PB Mini Mustang 2 speed. LOL.. Maybe because I still race and the little spare time I have goes into that. I have brought out my Fox from time to time and raced in stock with it and still goes really well with todays tyres on it. It really shows how good that buggy is and i wonder why it is not as common with the collectors. To me it was a huge step in advancement at the time. I wish Tamiya kept devolping it as it was so competive. I guess the 4wd class was what everyone was racing then. Mmmm a Super Fox. Tasty...
  14. Are the Tamiya F1 vintage. I have a one with every hop up you can get and a saddle pack chassis for it. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  15. I have both and the Frog is better by a long way. Yes the falcon has oil shocks all round but arent well matched to the chassis. The Frog was the top of the range 2wd in its day and the Falcon was a entry level buggy. The best 2wd at that stage was the Fox. There is a lot more after market companys for better performance for the Frog too.
  16. I have a Re reliase Hot Shot and Top Force EVO. I cant see a Hot shot ever keeping up with my evo. It has way to much bump steer. poor suspension even with the Hp suspension kit. The drive train is very inefficient and no ball diffs or one way compared to the Top Force. In its day though it was very good and was one of the best off roader around. This is what makes the Hot Shot a experiance not to foget.
  17. I raced my re realise Frog and was very competive was around the bottom group of the B4's and xxx's. This was its first meet and with more track time would be made even better. My Frog is not standard as it has, ball raced , cvd drive shafts, CAT rear shocks and You-G front dampers, cut down losi x 2000 on the rear with fox rims, Losi rib tyres on fox rims. Apart from that i used the esc that came in the kit. It was very quick down the huge back straight as its so light. Jumping was really good and had plenty of steering , It was so good to run a old buggy and everyone was amazed at how well it went. To me nothing beats the thrill of being competive with a vintage design. I wish i had more time to race it but my racing is in nitro. You can see pics under the thread of Frog front shocks. Mark
  18. I built mine with the optional cvd set and had no problem when i raced it at a local meet. I never liked the dog bone arrangement in the first place. I got them from Tower Hobbies.
  19. I have a brand new set of ORIGANAL Boomerang stickers that im willing to part with. Make a offer .. Cheers Mark.
  20. Thanks Crash Cramer and Show Dog for your input. Hope to get it soon 3 to 4 weeks time. I will inspect it and will post pics . Hope it is all right as he stated.
  21. Hi , I have a chance to get a Running Rough rider SRB. Im paying aprox 80 pounds for it but may sell it on E Bay. What are the going prices I know the condition has a lot to do with it. Thanks.
  22. On the good side you dont get the huge amount of bump steer due to lack of travell. Do you knowhere I can get some super shot stickers from?? Mine has no stickers at all.
  23. I have just aquired a Super Shot and have built a re realise Hot Shot . I notice that too and a rear roll bar gives more steering. I would of thought that with the low grip tyers in the day you would be better off without it. I was shocked on how little travell the front shocks have though.
  24. I wanted a Super shot Too. I ended up buying a re realise Hot shot and than got a HP suspension kit of e bay. Its the Super Shot suspension in a kit. I had the Super Shot under tray NIP and than bought a Technigold from e bay too. I have it all built with the orignal suspension and plan on putting the Hp suspension on soon. The Hot Shot 2 has better suspension the original I think.
  25. Thanks for that. I think i have a very good example of the EVO. It must be remembered that the evo was the 100th model tamiya realised. I will hang on to mine as long as i can but may sell all the Rw racing gears and some other stuff.
