Kyosho Scorpion Re Release at Shizuoka Hobby Show !
MAD RACER replied to Blitz Supra's topic in Re-Release Discussions
Reading through the manual and under Option parts there is a Le Mans motor 490. Never herd of the 490 but it's brushed . Motor recommended is no less then a 27T. The pinions spur gear combinations is included but you have swap both at the same time like the Frog but not a pain as the spur gear just slids off when the gear cover is removed by the body clip. I will start building next Friday as I have alot of other r/c to do this weekend but can't wait. -

Scorpion is a work of art. The alloy looks so shiny & bright. Seems ashame to open the blister packs BUT this is a runner. Bring on next Sat!!!! -
Arms will fit no problem. But the drive train have some differences ..

What are the most common/useful fasteners to keep in?
MAD RACER replied to SteveU30's topic in General discussions
I use Yeah Racing S/Steel hex screws . Come in 400pc in a neat little box. Counter sunk & button head . M3 thread All sort of sizes from motor screws to chassis screws . Cheap and good. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stainless-Screw-Set-400pcs-FREE-Mini-box-suit-1-10-RC-Tamiya-TRAXXAS-HPI-/400676234237?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Radio_Controlled_Vehicles&hash=item5d4a2a23fd -
Any buggy for the beach is fun. You will always get under-steer especially when you have paddles which gives more grip on the sand therefore will under-steer even more. For me I use the most basic design like the DT01 Mad Bull/Fighter buggy and Hornet based cars as there are less moving parts in the drive train. Gearbox and axles are all enclosed and not much too pull apart afterwards .( Gears are nice and corse and not so prone to a few grains of sand unlike fine pitch gears of today) Not to forget they are very tough buggies & cheap for parts. Beaches are for any ill handling cars . Why do you think most of the promo video's were done on the beach in the 80's by Tamiya

Kyosho Scorpion Re Release at Shizuoka Hobby Show !
MAD RACER replied to Blitz Supra's topic in Re-Release Discussions
Thanks guys. I owned & raced most of the most of the Le Mans in my racing days in the 80's and have slowly collected them over the past 5 years. I have most of the 360 ( 550) motors too but they aren't race legal even back then so they are in my other collection of all sorts. I wish I had a magnet Zapper as with all old motors they loose a lot of the magnet strength.. -

I like the shocks. Look like threaded Kyosho Golds but they don't exist. Have you run it at all? -
Fly Sky GT radio's are great for the money. Unfortunately the RX's are a little hit & Miss. Now & again you get a dud. Does it bind up ( red light turns solid after binding) Try another receiver from one of your other radios Is there power going in from the ESC. Once again try the other esc if not. Good chance it's your RX or ESC BEC. Rx's are cheap as chips from Hobbyking there rx's are the same. I buy 7 at a time and always carry a spare if not 2 but are rarely needed.

I'll check when I get home for you.

Well we all had a ball today. Track was in awesome shape with thanks to Luke. We had some visitors from the Sunshine Coast ( Paul & Conrad) as well as Yogi Bear from the Tamiya club with our usall hard core guys. The Tamiya Falcons are making a strong appearance with 3 of them on the track with the Wild one and the Nova Fox. The World's are still getting quicker as Fox Man & I are playing with set up's. Hopefully Yogi got them on his Go Pro. AP Mark & Others we hope to see you all soon Many thanks to everyone that made it today if I missed anyone. See ya all next fortnight. Now for some still pic's -
We have found that the Re re cars in general to be much stronger then the originals ( Except Dyna Storm). Our Hot Shots & Super Hot Shots to be very tough running 12 & 13t brushless combo's all day with no problems. Again with the Nova Fox & Avante. We do like the modern cars too like the DT02 & 03 cars. The Neo Scorcher is another great car for bang for your buck but has a few drive line problems which can be over come.

Alternative wheels for the Wild One in 2,2 ?
MAD RACER replied to MAD RACER's topic in Re-Release Discussions
Thanks for that. Nice W/O you have. Love the dampers on yours. What did you do for front springs as it looks like dampers only.?? -
I want to run 2.2 wheels on my W/O so I can run modern rubber. ( The rears are the problem) I thought that Frog alloy hex adapters would fit & indeed bolted up straight up but any of my modern hex drive wheels hit the rear shock so all the off set has to be all outboard . Has anyone else used 2.2 wheels on the W/O & if so what did you use? Cheers
-
That's really well done. Hope all goes well in your new business venture .
-
About 70% of my collection are Tamiya's . 20% will be Kyosho The reset will be made up with AE, PB, Marui, Schumacher & few others.
-
My rear plastic diff gear has a reinforcing plate around it to stop it flexing under load. ( with a 8.5T ) This was a little more work involved but stopped any teeth skipping. . The other alternative is the all alloy gear set up.
