  1. A brushless 12T is awesome in mine.

Insane fun . I have a Lexan shell on mine as well.

Yeah racing shocks all round with standard front springs and Losi yellow at the rear.

Yes you can swap the front steering knuckles over which require some dremeling to get more lock out of but does help with bump steer & with correct front shocks the front bottoms out unlike the standard shocks which run out of throw and still be half a inch of the deck.

  2. 21.5 I say or a 17.5.

The G/H has quite low gearing and all brushless motors rely to be geared pretty tall. Normally around 4 to 6 teeth higher then the same in brushed motors.

This hard in most retro Tamiya's with limited gearing options so I buy lower turn brushless motors to have the rpm's there for the limited gearing.

I have seen a Hornet with a 5.5 and just insane.

  3. We run the Scorpions/Tomahawks at Boondal every weekend.

They are quite tough buggies. The only up grade we have done is the Scorpions wing wire . They snap pretty easy. The optional wing mount kit for them are hard to find but you can make up your own with some 2mm piano wire if you are a little handy.

    That's all we have done.

  4. I love the Thunder Shot and is a very under rated buggy.

It was a totally new design for Tamiya with a first to use nylon components with the suspension arms. It also had way better shocks. The drive train had less moving parts to the Hot Shot and the steering used bell cranks of a unique design, It had some small short comings like the A5 front brace and the upper nylon camber links were too hard with no flex. So after a few good prangs the gearbox casings started to split at the link mounting point step screws as Saito2 referred to.

To solve this you had to buy the optional adj camber links which gave all the correct spacers & hardware. Standard on the Terror Scorcher.

I have a runner with a 13t Brushless combo and absolutely screams around Boondal. Really squats under power and turns nice.

Oh I almost forgot when first released Tamiya got some goods drivers to pilot the T/S at some big U.S meet and they came 1st,2nd & 3rd and TQ'd too. They had a add in RRCA about it.

  5. Too Funny.

I'm doing the opposite . I just made the decision to sell all my non runners & NB's shortly.

My pleasure comes from building and understanding the design, Tuning, Modifying if needed and of course running it hard but not abusing it.

We are all different that's what makes the world turn. lol

  6. MMmm

My wife wants a list of every car with every unique feature or mod and my estimated price to sell in case if anything happens to me. My two boys aren't remotely interested in r/c at all.

So with that in mind as well as a few other things I have decided to sell all my cars that I don't run soon. LOL

  7. Problem is I won't want to build it LOL.

I pride myself as to have nice runners so this won't be put away as hard as it is going to be to bust open the first bag or blister box.

My collection is 70% runners and have decided to sell all my new build's or too good to run cars and some projects builds soon.

  8. Wow these aren't cheap.. ;)

Bought mine yesterday from RC Mart and was $339 US + post . Almost $600 AU.

Has to be the most expensive Re re I bought ever and up there with any electric kit ...

What was the Avante when Re re'd ? I got mine 2nd hand half built so don't know how much they were new but I think they were up there too.

At least the Egress comes with all the goodies like Hi Caps, RD Steering, Ball diffs and so on. Unlike the Avante which I bought all the this stuff to get it to hook up.

    Can't wait.

  9. Well mine has to be my Avante Re re with out doubt.

Was the most woeful 4wd that I have ever driven out of the box.

Took a long time to sort out the handling with new Shocks ,Towers ,Wheels, Tyres, Diffs, Motors ,Gearing, Steering Set Up, Roll Centres ,Wing and still could be improved on but a pleasure to drive now and super smooth.

  10. My wife and I are going away in 2 months to the Gold Coast Casino for 3 nights.

So my wife likes the pokies and I'm bored stupid so when she is playing like could be hrs if she is winning I stay in the room and build a r/c car. Normally something cheap. My last build was a Grass Hopper Black. Problem was I finished it in no time and got a little bored.

So this time ( this is our once or twice a yr mini break together with no kids which is well overdue) I'm going to build a 4wd. So there is only one Tamiya 4wd I want that I don't have and that is the Egress . Hence a big purchase . So it will be a runner and look forward in comparing it to my well sorted Avante. The only real big difference to me is the Egress is LWB. :)

  11. We all run 12t EZ Run combos with our S/Shots at Boondal.

ESC just fits in the mechanism box with the esc cooling fan which is a must as it's enclosed box. Clears the center prop shaft by 2mm.

Motor wires just reach with the standard set up.

Depending how you gear them it's more then enough but not too much.

  12. Awesome Kit.

Mine is all built and ready to do battle at Boondal. Kyosho have addressed the small problems that the Scorpion had. I had no issues with the gearbox being tight at all or the rear suspension binding like I did with my Scorpion .

The quality is just awesome. Love the pre cut body and decal sheet. Was a snap to get a Box art finish.
