I am putting this up on eBay on August 11, but wanted to give you guys a shot at it first. I built this kit about 20 years ago and haven't used a whole lot for 10 years. It includes full bearings, hop-up driveshaft, Futaba Magnum Junior radio with two crystal sets, Novak 410-M5 ESC, and a Trinity Speedgems Ruby 16T motor. I will also throw in the Tamiya manual, a few extra parts trees, and the ESC and radio boxes and manuals. The body has a few scratches and cracks, and the chassis has significant scratches because it was run as a rally car for a while with another body. The car is not "restored" but it has just been kept clean and well preserved. I ran a battery pack through it today and it was just like old times. Make me an offer if you are interested. Complete running car with full bearings. Original wheels with Pro-Line Sedan Hawg tires. Manta Ray hardened prop shaft. Aftermarket foam bumper. Chassis in great shape except for scratches on underside. Body is painted and decalled per instructions, silver and black, Koenig Pilsner markings. I have two of these, complete. Full bearings on both cars. Bodies are beat up with scratches on the top and cracks on the front end. One body is painted and decalled per instructions (green & white). Other is painted blue only the decals for lights, window trim, etc. Chassis are in good shape except for some damage to the front lower (bumper) plate. Does anyone have a source for this paint in the US or Canada? I am looking for PS-16 for my Impreza WRC.

I concur that some of the supposed "190 mm" bodies are too wide even for a standard car. Some of the HPI 26 mm wheels can be purchased with 3 mm offset and 2 mm spacers, giving 5 mm offset per wheel for 10 mm total increase in width. Check their website to make sure which wheels have the correct offset and spacers. Not all wheels come with the spacers, only a few models, and they don't sell the spacers by themselves. If you want to use Tamiya wheels there is a nice list of wheels and offsets here: http://www.tamiya.nl/tamoptions/tam_53000_05.html Note that they (like HPI) do not use the SAE engineering convention for wheel offset. For the Tamiya and HPI wheels, positive (+) offset means wider.

Got the body mounts today, and they work perfectly. The Impreza and Focus bodies fit great now. I think any of the newer 257 mm wheelbase bodies should work! You can check here to see what chassis a body is designed for. http://www.tamiya.com/english/rc/rcitem/parts/rc11.htm If it is listed as fitting TA01, TA02, TA03, TA04, FF01, FF02, TL01, or TB01 then it should fit the FF01 chassis if you buy the TL01 body mounts. Just stay away from any of the short wheelbase bodies (ones that have an S is the chassis name, e.g. TA03RS), or any of the wide bodies like the TA02W or "TB01 Long Sus".

The HPI 190 mm body would work, but wouldn't look at as cool because the body is so much wider than the wheels of the car. I wanted mine to look cool so I decided to get Tamiya bodies. Tamiya's official site says that only bodies from FF01 cars will fit the FF01 chassis. But it's impossible to find new FF01 bodies because Tamiya stopped making them. So I decided to try TL01 / TB01 bodies. I got the 2001 Impreza WRC and 2001 Focus WRC bodies. They don't fit the stock body mounts but if you reverse the rear body mounts they fit perfectly and look cool. But the mounts aren't very stable when you reverse them. So I asked around and I found out that the TL01 body mount set can be used to make any of the newer Tamiya touring car bodies fit the FF01 perfectly, as long as they have the standard 257 mm wheelbase. I ordered a set of these and will be receiving them tomorrow. I'll try them out and tell you if they work as advertised. I bought some HPI 190mm bodies for my FF01 Civics and the bodies are too wide, to the point that they look stupid on the car. Supposedly you can get HPI wheels with 3mm offset and 2mm spacers that will widen the car, but I'm not buying new wheels. So I'm returning the HPI bodies.

Well I did some measurements, and I think even with the HPI wheels and spacers the HPI body is still a little too wide for the FF01 chassis. So I am going to return the HPI bodies, and I ordered Tamiya bodies, a 2001 Impreza WRC and a 2001 Focus WRC. If those fit I will let people know.

Thanks for the advice. It seems that HPI makes some wheels with 3mm offset and 2 mm spacers. So with two wheels I can therefore get 10 mm wider track, which might be enough to make the car look less ridiculous. Also I am seeing some indications that most of the Tamiya touring car bodies will fit on the FF01 chassis. I think some of the interior parts might interfere, but the body shell is not usually a problem. I don't intend to use any interior parts (I'm using window tint) so it's probably not an issue. If worse comes to worst I'll just take advantage of Tower Hobbies' 30 day return policy.

I have a TA01 and a pair of FF01's, and I am looking for aftermarket bodies so I can save the originals from further wear. I bought some HPI 190mm "Narrow" bodies (Impreza WRC and Lancer Evo WRC). They fit but they are too wide, overhanging the wheels by at least 10 mm on each side. Is there a way to widen the track of the car to resolve this? I think a set of longer hex adapters would work but I don't know of anybody making them. Alternatively, does anybody make bodies that will fit my cars but aren't excessively wide like the HPI stuff? I know Tamiya makes bodies, but according to the parts compatibility tables on their site, only a few bodies will fit my cars, and those bodies are nearly as rare as the ones I am trying to preserve. But I noticed that the wheelbase and track of my cars are the same as the latest Tamiya touring car chassis, so I wonder if the new bodies will fit?
