  1. I remember when I was about 9 or 10 I got a Kyosho Big Brute kit for Christmas. I was delighted when I opened it up. Needless to say, I wasn't really capable of building it so my Dad set about building it. About a week later it finally worked in a fashion, although it wouldn't reverse properly and I soon lost interest unfortunately.

This Christmas I quite fancy getting myself a Monster Truck/Buggy (too soon to use the excuse its for my son as he's only 2 at the moment) and I'm trying to decide what. Think I'll go for a Lunchbox for some Monster Truck fun!

  2. Hi, I was just wondering why you are involved in the 'RC' hobby? I myself am just starting in it so I guess I'd better give my reasons first. I always wanted an electric RC car 1/10 in scale when I was younger but never got one (mainly as my parents couldn't afford it) and so I guess it's a bit of nostalgia now at the age of 29. I must admit I'm intrigued at the competitive aspect of racing and also just the sheer fun of having a monster truck bouncing around in the mud (can't make up what I want first; buggy or monster truck).

Why Tamiya? For me I guess it has to be because of the way they look (characterful) and that they are the models I loved to look at in catalogues as a kid. A big plus for me is that I've heard their instructions seem to be easier to follow compared to others when building which is a big plus to me as a beginner.

  3. Cheers guys, the Dark Impact looks good although I'd prefer 2wd. Associated B4 is more than I want to pay for a starter buggy (also it's not as if I'm going to be able to get the best out of it or be competing at that high a level initially), and I really want a Tamiya, simply because I really really wanted one as a kid but I (well, parents) could afford one.

Think I will keep my eyes open for the Dark Impact/Desert Gator/Sand viper. I assume these are all 'tuneable' to an extent? Also, any tips for radios, batteries, chargers etc?

    Thanks

  4. Hi, I'm thinking about buying my first 1/10 electric kit buggy and am unsure what to buy. Initially it would be for fun (to learn) and then maybe for club racing so I guess I would like it to be modifiable.

I'd prefer 2wd and I've been thinking about the hornet, the frog, desert gator, sand viper or mad bull.

Any advice much appreciated. Also, apart from the car what else will I need to buy? I'm guessing battery, controller & batteries and charger (preferably a fast charger?)

    I'm based in the UK
