NO they DO NOT do 60kp/h. More like 25kp/h.... But, I STILL like mine!
-
hhmmm... What's a "VLB"? sorry, still catching up on all the lingo here.
As for me since I've been concentrating on fixing up my old Blackfoot.
I've just got a bunch of spare Blackfoot stuff. Now that I've got
the Thorp gearbox with the Thorp Slider arms.... I do have a spare
Thorp gearbox setup for Thorp dogbones if you're interested.
Other than that, I've gotta piece together a couple of Blackfoots,
maybe my Lunchbox, a few Airtronics controllers/receivers/servos, etc.
As for the showroom pics... I'll post some pics AND pay for the TC dues
once I actually get the Blackfoot or the Super Blackfoot/Beetle
done. Right now they're kind of pathetic looking with the old
banged up bodies...
-
No... No extra CVA's... Looking at the Twin Det pictures in your
showroom that thing looks killer! I'm actually trying to find one
or maybe even a Wild Dagger. I've already got this on order
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...roducts_id=8324
I'm hoping to find a decently priced WD or TD, then find some place to
get a custom chassis to hold two battery packs. I'd like to run the
motors in parallel and the batteries in parallel. similar to
what's described in the article listed below...
http://rcdaggerweb.com/clyde/wiki/index.php?page_id=29
I'm hoping to have a fun fast WD or TD AND still have decent run times.
I just got an email from someone that says he can make me a custom
aluminum chassis WITH shock towers to accomodate a 4" shocks and
alittle more suspension travel.
On a side note... I'd also like to do something similar to a TL01B
ripoff that I've got. And go with ONE brushless motor and just ONE
battery with it. But, I've got too many projects still in the
works. Heck I've STILL gotta finish the Blackfoot that I've got!
Oh as for the shocks. Are they 70mm shocks? I was looking around and found these...
Maybe those will work? I'm thinking about getting a set for my TL01B ripoff cause it uses 70mm shocks as well...
-
get an old blackfoot and see what you could do with it! That'll
eat up your spare cash any day! I know that I've spent WAY too
much money getting mine back up to running condition. Or you could get
some aluminum parts for your Twin Detonator! ;-)
-
Yeah, I saw their website. BUT, I also saw this message on their homepage...
-----------------
Below
is a release that we have sent out to as many people/forums/businesses that
we could think of.
Effective
May 24, 2005, R2C2 will be on a long term hiatus. We have experienced
so much during the last couple of years, and learned a whole lot. One
thing that we did learn is that the RC community is jam packed with a
whole lot of really cool guys (and girls) and we owe you all for our decent
run as a startup RC company.
Over
the course of the last two years, both Steve and myself have watched as
new products came out, and others fizzled. We have a sort of inside scoop
on why the ones fizzled out did so.
We
have both seen this hobby of ours change drastically, more so on a personal
level. Our hobby became one that turned in to more work than fun. We have
had some customer service issues, we know, and definitely no shortage
of shipping problems. We have, inadvertently made some people unhappy
with us, and we do apologize for it. We do want to stress that we were
never really in this to get rich, but more to serve the hobby in a way
that was not being served at the time. In the beginning, that is exactly
what was happening. But that seems to have changed.
Lack
of funding, problems with shipping, unpredictable manufacturing environments,
as well as questionable demand forecasts have forced us to rethink our
direction, and consider the (temporary?) end of R2C2.
We
have found out that we are a pretty well known name in the RC community,
and that fact alone has made us extremely proud. The first line of this
release is not “Going out of business†for a reason. We are
going to leave for a while, as the R2C2 entity, but we are hoping very
much to be back in the not so distant future. You can surely expect to
see Steve and Myself hanging around the forums and discussion boards,
and will likely see more of us, now that we will be more focused on our
Hobby, as opposed to the business.
To
all of the people that helped us on the way; customers, suppliers, and
those of you who have encouraged us as well as talked to us about our
product line, we thank you…VERY MUCH. We hope to see you around,
and will be looking forward to chatting from the level that got to be
more and more attractive as we went along…as hobbyists.
With
that, thank you all for a great run, it was a lot of fun, and don’t
surprised if in a little while you see the name R2C2 crop back up and
hopefully, be a much larger going concern.
To
anybody that currently has orders with R2C2, we will definitely still
be honoring them, as well as holding a liquidation sale from our website,
and with the permission from the forum administrators, in the buy/sell/trade
sections of the forum.
Regards,
Buck

thanks I'll send them an email. But, does anyone know of any aluminum versions?
-
YES! that's the one that I saw that caused me to post this question! too bad you don't know who made it.
I'll try looking online for suppliers of sheet aluminum. But,
what tools does everyone here use to cut and fabricate the chassises
with?
-
What's the best aftermarket chassis for the Wild Dagger/Twin Detonator
That Can Hold TWO batteries? I'm thinking about getting me either a
Wild Dagger/Twin Detonator. But, I want to be able to use TWO battery
packs on it. Anyone have any links or a good source to source
these from? Better yet, can anyone tell me how to make a custom
chassis myself? I've seen a few custom made chassis' in various
people's showrooms. But, where does one get the aluminum and how
do they cut it so cleanly?
-
yeah, I had that same problem as well. I "cooked" a Venom 21t
motor. So, far I don't see a way for the gearing to be lowered at all.
-
YES! That's IT!
Well... I'm hoping that's the problem and that when I get the new gears
and rebuild the gearbox with metal bearings that it will fix this
problem. BUT, it would have been nice to have a ball bearing
differential in there!
I'll probably just stick with regular all purpose lithium automotive
grease for now. It seems to have worked really well in my other
Blackfoots AND I can get a BIG can of it for cheap.
again thanks so much for the help!
-
actually that's the problem. it IS broken. I got this truck off
of ebay a few weeks ago and it looked okay. but, when I was taking it
apart to put ball bearings in it I noticed that the previous owner ran
the thing til it almost fell apart. Some of the plastic bushings were
almost worn through. never seen that before. then when I opened
up the differential to see if it was okay I noticed that two of the
bevel gears just popped out. then I noticed a couple of "extra"
metal pieces.
As for thicker grease, that's what my plan was all along. BUT, what
grease do you recommend? I've been using all-purpose lithium
grease that I got from a local automotive parts store. Seems to
work pretty good on some other gears...
-
Hello OCD, below is a picture of the bevel gears that I'm talking
about. it's the small support metal support that holds the bevel gear
that wore away on my Super Blackfoot. I know that eventually the gear
will wear away at the support. But, I'm hoping that if I add some
extra grease in the differential case and then screw the differential
cover back on (the cover that covers the differential gears that it'll
keep enough of the grease in the differential to help prevent the
metals parts from wearing away at each other...

-
OCD thank you for trying. I really appreciate it. The King
Blackfoot and the Super Blackfoot have identical gearboxes from what I
can tell. So, I'm sure that it still won't fit in my gearbox
either. So, I guess I'll be rebuilding my differential with some stock
bevel gears. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be out of them at the
moment. Any suggestions on how to best protect the bevel
gears? I'm thinking that I put a buttload of grease all over the
metal pieces and then screw the differential closed...
-
gravedigger, well when I put some loctite on the plastic it sort of melted it. kinda hard to describe. but, basically it was bad for the plastic part. after a few minutes the plastic part just kind of fell apart. oh as for "GPM"... I'm not sure what it stands for. but, it's the name of a company that makes aftermarket parts for various Tamiya vehicles. I found some of their stuff on
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/default.php?...595_424_744_707
they also make a 70mm universal swing drive shaft that I got on order as well.
-
Hmmm... that's good question!
I have a Manta/TA ball diff here, so I might tear down my KBF to see if
it's a fit. Unless someone else has already tried and
failed? I know that it uses the standard cups, but the diff gear
might be a different size or 'offset'. Would love to know if it
works: A Blackfoot with a ball diff is a good thing!
(If I don't see a definative answer here soon, I'll get that KBF on my bench and let you know!)
OCD... thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I've already ordered a set of bevel gears from Tamiya. But, looking at
the design with the metal bevel gears spinning on the stationary tiny
metal shaft. To me it's just a matter of time before it grinds through
the new replacements as well...
-
hello all! I'm hoping someone can help point me in the right
direction. I just got ANOTHER Super Blackfoot off of ebay.
At first it looked like it was RTR. But, then when I took apart
the gearbox to add ball bearings to it (instead of the plastic
bushings) I found that the bevel gears in it had grinded away their
supports that hold them in place. So, does anyone know of a better
solution to the stock differential gear? will the ball bearing
gear for the M03 work?
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXGE35&P=M
thank you for your help in advance!
-
gravediggernz, thanks for the offer of help. unfortunately, I'm in the
US. But, the prices on that website seem to be really good! Yeah, I
love my little TL01B basher. It's been really rugged for me. And
from the looks of it, for the previous owner as well.
As for buying a vehicle that's not a Tamiya... In a funny way, I've
been actually supporting Tamiya as well with this purchase. I've had to
buy some replacement parts (due to my own stupidity, loctite + plastic
= more orders to www.tamiyausa.com). The amazing thing is that
some of the parts on this cheap version are actually pretty good. The
receiver and esc all in one is pretty nice. I know that I've run a
Venom 21t and a 7 cell 8.4Volt battery off of it. I've also
gotten the GPM motor mount, the GPM universal 70mm drive shafts.
I've done things with this cheapo version that I wouldn't do with a
"real" tamiya just because... this thing is so cheap. But, most
importantly it's made me want to restore my old Blackfoot and it's got
my interest revived into Tamiya products. Anyways, I'm happy with
my generic/ripoff Bronzer.
-
yeah, I have one of those that I bought used off of ebay. great deal if you ask me. but, I do need to get a new body. the truck body that I got was completely thrashed. I also want to get a different set of rims and tires cause the orange rim is just too fugly for me. my only gripe with the one that I have is that the springs are too small. And I'm having a badword of a time finding shocks that are 70mm in length. that website www.morfars.com shows them as being 90mm? which is strange to me cause that's just way too long. unless they have a different aftermarketshock mount for these things?
-
oh my... oh my... I guess I'll order a new Parma body... nice wheels too!

I know the King Blackfoot had wider suspension arms, so the dogbones for that were probably longer, but the Super Blackfoot pieces should fit, right? I can a find all the parts on the web -- unfortunately with shipping it would cost something like $50 or $60 to get them all. But IF Tower or someone starts carrying the new Frog pieces, then I think I'd be able to get all the parts from ONE source and get it all (including shipping) for closer to $25-$35...
see this previous post...

I've got these parts on order. So, I'll know for sure in a few days. BTW, the Super Blackfoot and the King Blackfoot have 70mm dog bone shafts.
-
nice... very nice.... I gotta get me one or two of those bodies!
-
quote:Originally posted by minijoshYou can still buy these bodies from Parma if you don't want to strip it.
id="quote">id="quote">
yeah, I might just do that.
-
me too... no worries though... it's already been fixed...[
] -
I saw these posts before. I hope this helps. I just ordered the cups that go into the gearbox and the axles that hold the wheels on. So, I'm pretty sure that this will work.

Body - Painting
in General discussions
Posted
So, what does everyone use to paint the details on a lexan body?
I asked the owner at our LHS and he said nail polish or a good quality
enamel? What do you all do? I'm planning on painting just some of
the details of my Parma PSE Beetle body.
