    Nice Buy!

    Didn't see that one listed.. Did you get it BIN?

    Gotta love the hidden bonuses! I bought a Mountaineer a while back and the owner said he had some extras 'lying around' that he would throw in. To my suprise it was a complete set of unused decals and glass!!!

    nope sheer luck... regular ebay auction... AND they seller was good with communication and quick with delivery. I got it cause I needed some parts off of it to complete my old Blackfoot that I'm trying to repair. then when I got it I noticed all of the other hop ups... woohoo!

  2. Woohoo!!! I think I made a good purchase with this ebay auction!

    I got the truck pictured below and it came with the following:

    * thorp dirt burner transmission

    * thorp slider axles

    * thorp clamping hubs

    * crp rear skid plate

    * crp rear bumper

    * ball bearings all around

    * aluminum shocks

    * novak esc (forward only, need to change this)

    * parma body

    Once I get the parts I want off of this truck I'll eventually have a rolling chassis up for sale...

    Now all I'll need is a new motor and a new esc! woohoo!

    I've been wanting a new car, and was going to get a Twin Detonator, because of it's size and the fact that it's 4WD. But I'm turned off to the idea of twin motors/gearcases.

    I've never handled a TL chassis, but it looked perfect. Except it's either a buggy or a tourer. I could've bought a Baja Champ and added the other stuff to it, but I found the HBX in a search. We'll see what happens.

    However, if I happen to come to my senses and buy a BC/BK, is it possible to still get the Wild Dagger body? I'm not fond of the Twin.

    I should add that if anyone has any other suggestions about a 4WD, single motor monster truck about the same size, let me know.

    I've got one and like you the price was just too good to pass up. I'm really happy with it. Mine's been pretty reliable. except for when I crashed it into a concrete wall. but, then again... that was my fault... I too am in need of another truck body. but, then again I'm in need of a new bodies for ALL of my other tamiya's as well.

  4. just getting back into this r/c stuff to restore my old Blackfoot.came across this old post and thought I'd add my little tidbits of observations. I can't compare my old Blackfoot or Super Blackfoot to the new Blackfoot Extreme. But, Jim's right. the differences between the Blackfoot and the Super Blackfoot were like night and day. I can only imagine the difference between the the two old Blackfoots and the newest version.

    BTW, I just got both of them running this past weekend. The old Blackfoot I had from when I was younger (which was about 20yrs ago). the Super Blackfoot I just got off of ebay. On both trucks I've replaced or added, tamiya CVA shocks, venom 21t motor, esc, and just rebuilt each of the gear boxes.

    What strikes me is the difference in the steering between these two old trucks. the SBF seems to oversteer all the time. and the front wheels on the SBF seem to always lift off the ground when I first accelerate hard.

    The BF is the complete opposite. understeers all the time and I think it's just alittle bit faster than the SBF? I dunno. I haven't had a chance to run the two against each other yet.

    how would the rear swingarms of a frog/monster beetle etc mount onto that without adding extra metal? it looks like it can only be used with a super blackfoot/bush devel/king blackfoot truck.

    id="quote">id="quote">

    maybe a few extra screw holes in similar locations to the old chassis? and then just reuse the old swing arms and mounting points.

  6. okay, I saw that one of the member albums that had a billet chassis for their blackfoot. Supposedly this was made by www.esphobby.com so I sent them an email. Here's their response and of course my reply. Just in case anyone was interested...

    Dear Eric,

    you really know how to depress an old guy like me! I'm really bummed. That was one beautiful idea you had. Now that all of us ole'30+yr olds are starting to regress I'm sure that this news will really depress the rest of the old guys who have rediscovered their old blackfeet (... wait.. what's the plural of blackfoot?). It's a shame that us old guys don't have the option of getting a superior "NEW" replacement chassis. I spending way too much money on eBay trying to repair my old stuff only to break it when I'm bashing the little guy around. And just off the top of my head I'm pretty sure that the same chassis would fit the following Tamiya cars/trucks;

    - Subaru brat

    - Frog

    - Blackfoot

    - Monster Beetle

    - Mud Blaster

    - Super Blackfoot

    - King Blackfoot

    as well as others... hint-hint... Anyhow, if you DO change your mind. I really wouldn't mind a similar chassis with the ability to hold say two 7.2V NiMh battery packs... hint-hint...

    thanks,

    jim...

    Subject: Re: do you make a billet chassis for the Tamiya Blackfoot?

    We did design and build that one prototype chassis many years ago. The target price at the time would have been about $150.00 for the kit and we felt that there probably weren't enough people who would spend that kind of money on a truck that only cost about $125.00 to begin with. As such, the project was scrapped. Incidently, we had to use the old shorter Blackfoot suspension arms on the front as our chassis was so much wider and would have been way out of sync with the rear width if we had used the Super Blackfoot arms. We also never made any provisions to mount the battery either, so it really was never quite finished. Indeed, this particular one was sold on EBay a couple of years ago and is now an interesting collectable, for sure. And I'm sorry to say to you Blackfoot fans that we have no plans to ever attempt it again. Eric.

    Hi everyone, just been playing with my stadium blitzer and i've broke another wheel axle [8)] (glad i got a spare) and and bent a drive shaft [8)] does anyone know where i can get better ones which are stronger?

    Thanks

    Chris

    id="quote">id="quote">

    how long are the drive shafts? 70mm? if so, can you use the drive shafts off of a twin detonator/wild dagger?

  8. oh and what is everyone using for a "car stand" so that the tires don't get the usual "flat spot" on them? Just to be cost effective I was thinking about getting some PVC drainage tubing maybe 3-4" in diameter so that I can cut them to varying heights to keep the tires from developing the flat spots.

    Here's something silly... How about using automotive products? Like tire protectant for the tires and maybe actually waxing the paint on the older plastic bodied tamiya models (i.e. the original Blackfoot?).
