Depends how much you want to turn I suppose?. This would destroy small shrubs at 30mph so you don't really need to turn. Lol. You could have 6ws as well if needed, but I found a bit more power to the back end would help it lose traction at the rear. Who needs turning anyway?? 😂 You can do interesting donuts on loose gravel but it'll flip over when it finds some grip unless you have the reaction time of a 6 year old boy!!!

I ran 3 brushless motors and 3 batteries just to complicate things and then a spaghetti mess of various "Y" leads joining it all up to one receiver. So I could be using 9s lipo but still only running at 11.1volts. or 6s but only 7.4 volts. I used to run 2x2s on the front and a 3s on the back just to make the handling a bit more interesting. Lol

I know, right? And he's using sticks!!!!. He was 6 years old then but he'd already been piloting a 50mph DT-02 before he could *walk so his skills were way ahead of his years. *I think we can add talk to that. (Before he could walk or talk) I couldn't get it on 3 wheels without flipping it. " Here Dad, hold my sippy cup, I'll show you how to do it!!". Lol

Way ahead of you here. Although mine wasn't ever finished properly.

Lipo Batteries - please help a newbie

Or you could fit something like this and then any battery you like. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115640050189?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=cNG2HvIKQqq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=AmMhQ-pWTKq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Not sure if this is an exact copy of the original but there are some that will let you fit a square battery in there. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354923455403?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_qv-enajtjw&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=AmMhQ-pWTKq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY 2nd link shows a square hardcase fitted to a lunchbox (oops, brain fart) which isn't the same chassis is it?, Only the gearbox is the same as the lunchbox? Ignore this post, it's early in the morning, carry on as you were. -
Slot Car 1/24 racing, anyone was into that?

I don't know where you are, but I did take the kids to a toy museum?/ scalextric / train track/ RC track / flight SIM place in Daventry, Northamptonshire. Was a really great day out but when I looked at going again after coronavirus and all that, the ticket prices has increased beyond an acceptable level for a family day out!!. Great little place though, stuffed with Lego, cars, trains and toys. -
Tamiyaclub Official Top 10 Fastest RC'ers (Part 2)

We definitely need a 1/14th scale category 😃 so I can be 1st,errrr, I mean because the thread has gathered a lot of interest and quick drive cars are still popular and plentiful but offer very little competition to the true hobby grade 1/10 cars. I see I've lost a few places on the board so I'll be setting up another run with the quick(est) drive, soon....... But I demand a new category, and start line girls to wave a flag, cold drinks served by the start line girls, and a trophy for the winner. Me,...presented by the start line/ beer waitresses/ trophy presentation (you're getting your money's worth here) girls. Perhaps we should have a bloke as well for equality purposes and to lift heavy stuff like beer and trophies? Shall I put it to a vote?. -
*I'd say add more holes!. Ferrous oxide performance pack, rust lightening theory. Less weight more great. *Advice not to be taken seriously and certainly not for a lunchbox chassis but this aluminium one in the link demonstrates that you don't need a solid chassis. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374255861321?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vf6vjp9xr--&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=AmMhQ-pWTKq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Restoring/Upgrading a Tamiya Clod Buster QD
wolfdogstinkus replied to Davidqd's topic in Build Tips and Techniques
Some guys re-use the AA packs but with a better quality rechargeable cell. Me, I like to rip it all out and start again. A 2s lipo of between 1500- 2200mah will give good runtime. But you'll have to decide how much chassis modification you want to do to the battery tray as to what will fit in there. The bigger the better for runtime and punch as the bigger batteries will have a higher discharge rate. Here's mine from years ago, same chassis, different body. This was an 18T hobbywing ezrun system for 1/18th scale cars and an old 7.2volt nicad, I hadn't moved onto lipo back then, was over 10 years ago. Didn't even have a 2.4Ghzradio!!!!, That was a while ago.- 4 replies

Restoring/Upgrading a Tamiya Clod Buster QD
wolfdogstinkus replied to Davidqd's topic in Build Tips and Techniques
You'll need to drill a couple of holes in the motor mount to fit a brushless motor, easy job, don't be scared. I would suggest leaving the locating pins in place and drilling a new hole to bolt to the motor, might only need one bolt if you leave the pins in place. You'll see what I mean when you strip it down. If you are changing the motor, you'll probably need to do the steering servo and receiver and upgrade it to 2.4Ghz. The servo will need the tabs snipping off to fit in the box but it does work- 4 replies

Dead LiPo's - recommend replacements?
wolfdogstinkus replied to Gruntfuggly's topic in General discussions
Hopefully you'll get your lipo working again but if not, I believe the battery tray in the blitzer beetle can be modified in height fairly easily, I used to use a massive 5000mah 11.1v brick in my blitzer. I think you just add longer screws and a spacer or do away with the original battery holder and cut slots for velcro straps. No matter how secure you think your battery is, it always seems to find a way out and go sliding down the tarmac at 40mph!!. -
Careful with that theory, apparently shoes are essential items even 500 pairs but paint cans are a luxury item so your wife owns half your paint cans but you don't own half her shoes???? I learned this from the great Shodog.

More power to the back end will get you round the corners but not so great on the straights when the rear is trying to overtake the front. I sold my 6wd wild dagger and the new owner turned it into this. I wonder if that body survived the 3 brushless motors and the crazy handling??
-
Fibrelyte UK have all the parts listed by model so just go there and look for wild dagger, they do the shock towers, not sure what else they do now, mine was 5 years ago. I'd recommend lights, night driving is fun!
-
The best upgrade I did to a beat up eBay wild dagger, buy another one!!! 6wd 3 brushless motors 3x 2s lipo 6 year old pilot!, (Pilot is the correct term for this vehicle) This did have rear steer but I took it off because when you pushed left, it actually turned the world right!!!

Some say that the stig doesn't use indicators, and that if he did, they would only flash on the left side, all we know is that digital steering trims are more sensitive than analogue ones and he's called the stig.
-
Sorry, it's a phrase borrowed from Top gear used to introduce the stig, that I often adapt to suit the Clodbuster as a joke, but I still think steering trim or EPA is the most likely cause.
-
Steering trim often affects the indicator function, turn trim to the left and see if that fixes the problem, I think I had similar issues with my Clodbuster. Some say that my Clodbuster has more wires than a 1980's telephone exchange in India and that if it had a phone number, it would begin with 666, all we know is that it's called the Clodbuster.

Most of us use Imgur to host pictures, then post a hotlink which displays them here, just set your pictures to private when you upload them to Imgur or the Imgur community will complain as it's mostly a site for memes. Then you can upload unlimited images here. Would be nice to see it finished.

As above steel pinion, bearings. Front wheel hubs can be swapped left for right to effectively turn them upside down which reduces bump steer. 9T brushless motor and a 3s lipo might be too fast but it's loads of fun.

I predicted this event in my Bible, err, I mean the most epic build manual ever. I have written about this event more than once. I believe many more events will come to light in the future, you will see I also predicted these events and you will know my name is the Lord when Tamiya is once again known as the one and only big T. Good work my disciples.
