So here is my pumpkin, been running it for a couple of years and it shows!, I started out with a cheap radio set(thing it was a zebra/hi-tec?) any way that was no good and I lost control with a 19T peak racing motor and smashed it into a metal skip at work!(I should have been working, not bashing!) Of course I broke all the body mounts!, have been running it topless ever since!, recently I fitted an 18T ansmann clash motor, still with the standard tamiya speed control(ESC), during a run, I flipped it over and broke the chassis, where the steering servo mounts I did try to fix it, but it won't hold so I had to order a new chassis, As you can see I have fitting the 3rd shock using a short shock from a falcon! I had also broken my front bottom shock mount, so decided to fit the falcon shocks to the rear but they turned out to be too long, so I changed the damper rod for a shorter Blitzer beetle one(not ideal, but it did shorten it) I was then left with the problem that when the 3rd shock is in full compression, the motor fouls the rear shock, I have fixed that problem by mounting the rear shocks further back,. And the new clearance. with the rear shock and motor As I said, I have ordered a new chassis, "D"parts and "E" parts so should be re-building very soon, Questions I have 1, Should I use a spreader plate on rear shocks or would a large washer be o.k? 2, I want to fit a Kamtec VW BUS shell on this chassis, Where can I buy suitable mounts? I did try the search function but with no luck so far!, although I have seen it done! I did have a classic VW beetle shell on for a while but no pics to show you, Many thanks for looking, I may do a re-build thread when I get my parts!

Hi people, Last night I fitted the rear shocks from the Falcon to the rear of my pumpkin, i did try one on the front first but it was too long and threw the camber right out!, as has been said in this thread they are also a touch too long for the rear. I have not run it yet, so can't comment on that but I still have the pogo sticks on the front so it should be interesting anyway!!
-
I recenty have fitted my pumpkin with the 3rd shock, using the front short shock from a falcon, after a quick search, I found this thread! This makes the rear suspension much stiffer even with the pogo sticks. I have no idea about the above quote, not had a proper run yet and a hope it will wheelie better, but with the 18T clash motor, I don't think it has enough torque!

Thanks for showing some interest micheal19990, However I would like to sell this as a complete running car although I may sell the new Tamiya Body, with the lights, "q parts", decals and driver seperately as they can reach a fair price on their own!! If anyone would like to make an offer, please PM me with your offer and I will let you know if it is acceptable!! Again thanks to all who have taken the time to look!

Hi, I recently bought a Blitzer Beetle chassis with the idea of restoring it!, and then I bought another for spares, long story short, now I have two! So I may be interested in selling one of them, It has been used and has scratches on the bottom, is partly ballraced, currently has a Kamtec beetle body but I also have a complete body set with decals(minus the glass). It also has all period radio gear, MSC and steering servo. I will post some pics later on, I am in no hurry to sell, but will be willing to listen to offers!! Thanks for reading, just uploading pics now! It's a bit dusty, sorry, should have dusted it before I took the pics!!

Them springs don't last long, and are quite expensive to buy for what they are!, Perhaps greaseing them would prolong their life, Here's a link that may help you http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=56816 Good luck!! And here's the how- to by Jonny-Retro http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...17&id=26162 And another by Hellbelly http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...9382&id=278 E2A: Thanks TA-Mark, very informative!, The reason I suggested grease is because of the location of the springs and the water that can get in there, but yours is a much better solution, Thanks

Thanks WillyChang for the super quick reply!! My LHS is pretty poor to be honest but I will look around on the net!!

Has anyone tried this? http://www.jevries.com/images/foilbig.jpg Chrome foiling using regular allu kitchen foil and 3M adhesive spray. Simply spray the back of the foil, cut a piece and cover the whole front windshield, rub and cut away the excess material. I hope this link is ok?, if not I do apologise, but I think I originally found that site from a link given here! I have a Blitzer beetle shell which may suit a chrome window surround!!
-
Thats teasing!! , a hard shell, with a roof and wing chop??, extended front axle? Can't wait!!
-
Thanks for that extra info and pic, I have a 1/1 beetle and a couple of tamiya blitzers, Got stand-offs on my big car and the roof rack! and various other hop-ups!, Those are both very nice examples and shows what you can do with the standard kit! Really looking forward to seeing your next one!! Good job!!
-
Very nice!, another top quality work of art, Can you show us the roof rack a bit closer? What's it made of? And also how you did the stand off kit on the engine lid? Looking forward to seeing some more of your work!! Was the drag bug inspired by Jon Rathbones racer?, looks similar!!
-
No probs dude, just wondered on the size, thats all, don't have any metal parts on my R/C cars, but plenty on my big car that you could polish!! Shiny carbs anyone?
-
Nice job! How big is the cab? 1/1 scale alloy wheel?
-
Is the ESC plugged in the receiver the right way round?
-
Just found this! 321.5 Almost hit the reindeer!
-
Maybe have a look round the site!, there must be some how-tos?, sorry I can't help more! But Good Luck with it,
-
You can buy special flexy masking tape at your local motorfactor store (halfords?), it is expensive but should be worth it!! I know what you mean about the tape, I recently ruined a shell and had to sand it all back, I don't know what scheme you have in mind, but can't you paint the main colour on the inside?, and then detail the outside!
-
Where did the scale engine come from? Nice job by the way! E2A: What shell is it? And can we see some pics of the chassis?
-
And you got a deck lid stand off kit!!!! VERY nice, top job! E2A; did you cut the decklid out? I guess you must have!, good work!! And disk brakes as well, very nice!
-
i think the book says to use the card from the screw bag! And as Jonny Retro says it must line up inside,
-
I think the paper is just to stop the pinion gear from touching the side of the motor!, Should be fine!, good luck with the build!!

Ansmann Clash Motors - Any Good?
wolfdogstinkus replied to Leethal Driver's topic in General discussions
I just put a 18T in my pumpkin!, and my mate has a 21T in his! So far, no complaints and the 18T is working with the standard Tamiya ESC (the 101BK?) only had a couple of runs with the 18T motor, but this EZRUN Brushless seems a better buy at the moment! I was running a stock tamiya 27T in mine and he had the 21T ansmann clash and his was much faster!!!(also with standard tamiya ESC) -
Hi spencem875, did you get this set-up and working yet? That must be mental!! 5.5T, What sort of M.P.H will that bring you?
-
Lexan? Did the original have a hard shell?
-
Really enjoyed this thread, Thanks for sharing! What was the problem with the rear tyres?
