Which monster truck and buggy should I get ?
TamiyaRC replied to Ultima Ratio's topic in General discussions
Hi For fun, good looking and quality, they are all eligible. But if you can only buy one from each category, get the Blackfoot extreme/Twin Detonator/Mighty Bull and the hornet. Blackfoot Extreme/TD/MB, you can get a custom shock towers so you can put longer shock, then it become a kinda high performance truck, then you can use any truck body for that size. King Blackfoot, dont drive so good, kinda wobble (spelling right ?) a lot. For the buggy I'll buy the hornet, because, for bashing, its kinda indestructible, very good looking, high build quality and FUN FUN FUN... Good luck with your choice. -
Guys I heard to remove a tire from a wheel (glued) is to boil them, right ? (anyone correct me if I'm wrong). I have those sets and would like to remove the tires from the gold wheels but afraid the gold coat would be damaged. What you Guys say ? Thx

why discontinue a good selling item....
TamiyaRC replied to jocktheglide's topic in General discussions
quote:tamiya bruiser, tamiya wild one, pajero XB, and a host others hence thats why the value of these kits go up and not down due to high command. Its like an emaxx a very popular vehicle, but traxxas aint discontinuing that hot item one bit. id="quote">id="quote"> Because there's not enough people /demand for that. When you say "hot" is actually only "some people" who really wants that so bad, I think its only enough to drive the price up of the product which are already bought, but not enough for Tamiya to cover the cost producing them. And when I say "some people", its a lot of people in Tamiya comunnity but not so many if you put the number into the whole RC people. While in Traxxas case, they have enough people keep buying their product so they can cover the cost of producing them. Example: (maybe) a thousands first time buyer, teenager, etc would buy a $150-$200 Traxxas Stampede, but will not buy a $1000 or more bruiser. While in the case of Wild one and Pajero XB, again, the same thing, if people wanna race their buggy, they will referred to something else like other big brand name in racing scene, and Pajero XB also only bought by people who like a highly detailed/realistic looks of it. So, again, not enough for Tamiya to cover their cost. Of course all what I'm saying could be wrong, but I'm sure that a product is driven by a demand and profit, so if there's not enough demand or profit, the company just simply wouldnt make it. And believe me, Tamiya is a big company and they must have some people there (expert) in business that main job is to decide about which product to make and not to make, so they are just not make decision without thinking. -
Guys How can I post pics from my hard drives ? (I'm not a computer savvy tho). Thanks

Guys I have a TL-01 Opel V8 DTM, with XTM Bullet ESC and Traxxas Stinger motor. Today is the first day I play with that set up. After several long straight run, it stops, no forward (steering and reverse still works). Then if I lift it up on the air, it works fine (fwd and rev). And when I put it back down, fwd is not working again. Once, I turn it off, then take off the body, looking whats could be wrong inside, but didnt find any, put everything back, and voila, it works again like normal, then after several long straight run, the problems arise again. Any opinion ? Thx hsw21

do you guys only buy because of value goes up?
TamiyaRC replied to jocktheglide's topic in General discussions
I dont know whats in Tamiya stuff that makes me addicted to it. I like the looks, I like almost everything in Tamiya stuff (the looks, the box, the manual, the catalogs, everything, including the smell when I first opened the kit box). And when I do that nowadays, it brings me all of the memories about my early RC careers. Then, Maybe because it is meticulously nice in all aspect as they were made by Japanese whose great in detail. But when I was a kid, I only can afford maybe one or two ("afford" means using my savings money plus some help from my Mom, and the ratio is something like 20% my money, 80% my Mom's heheh...). Now I can afford more by myself, and thats why Im buying Tamiya stuff. Added value later is a bonus (if it happens). I try to explain it all as best I can, but since my English is not so great, maybe I'm using a wrong word, but I hope all of you Guys understand what I'm saying. It is so nice and interesting to know the reason why people buy their Tamiya stuff. hsw21 -
Hi All. Can someone give me the info about the place ? Whats the name of the place, what the address, how to get there (since the place is kinda tricky to get ?), what time its gonna be, etc ? I already get the permit from soomeone else in the house (a.k.a mrs. wife) so I better go there and find the place. Thx hsw21

Hi My coworker will go to Japan very soon, and he said that I can ask him to buy something as long as I give him the money first. I was thinking to get some car (Tamiya) that dont exist here in the uS. What car are they ? Thank you hsw21

Guys That place in Malibu, Is the "playground" kinda close to where we gonna park our car at ? I was thinking since we gonna run all electric stuff, either we bring along a lot of fully charge battery packs, or it is close enough to our car to recharge the packs. Thx

Great, Yes, I'm looking forward to it. Just let me know when and where. Thx Guys to make this happen (soon hehe). hsw21

Guys Is this motor worth buying ? I want to get one for my Emaxx, but also wanna try it on my King Blackfoot and Mighty Bull ( just wanna know whats the result ) and maybe also on my Twin Detonator (still dont know how Im gonna install it in my Twin). If any of you has some experience with this motor, please give me some information. Oh one more thing. For my King Blackfoot, with 7 cells, Im using stock motor now, I wanna upgrade (just the affordable one first), which motor would give me the best result between the Traxxas Stinger motor or the P2K2 ? or else ? Thanks hsw21

Since I will basically just run my MB on the parking lot, is the oil filled hsocks of the same size will be enough ? (I mean I dont need to replace it with the longer one). If I install brushless, which one is better, Novak HV or SS ? I was thinking, since I have Traxxas Emaxx too, i would buy the Novak HV so I can put it in my Emaxx and also on my Mighty Bull. No problem with the Emaxx since everything will be direct fit. But how about the MB ? is the motor gonna be direct fit too ? And do I need to use 2 battery packs ? If yes how can I put 2 battery packs in my MB ? (I mean neatly). Hmmm, I'm getting so excited here. :0 Thx Guys hsw21

"A Traxxas titan is a 550 sized motor, be sure it fits in your mighty bull." Im sure it will fits too, but whats about the voltage ? I thought the Titans are for 14,4 volts ? Or the max is 14,4 volts and I still can use it with 8,4 volts (7 cells) ? Thanks

What turn is the stock mabuchi 540 motor ? Is the Traxxas Stinger motor a great improvement for mabuchi motor ? I would like to replace me mabuchi with stinger motor, so far I was using 7 cell packs for my truck. Got faster result but wanna try Stinger which I expect will give me even better result. Any opinions ? or maybe Traxxas Titan motor is better ? Application would be on the Tamiya Mighty Bull, Super Rooster ESC, full bearings, 7 cells pack. Thanks hsw21

I think the chasis is a TL-01 kinda thing. But the body and tires yes, they looks similar to the dagger. Crazy heh ??

Check this out : sorry, no live links allowed. Also this brand has been discussed before.

Guys What shock tower can I use if I want to change the shocks to the longer one (from Tmaxx). I saw the one from Xtreme RC Racing, but too expensive (about $30). Thx hsw21

Are they EXACTLY the same truck (except body obviously) ? Thanks hsw21

Hi It looks like the Dyna Storm looks like the "pro" buggy (Losi, Asso, etc), but why Tamiya cant compete with them ? Is it because the Storm cant compete with the rest or just because no one use it ? What would happen if someone use Tamiya buggy in the race with other "more popular" brand ? Thx hsw21

Guys, thanks for replies... For another style of connector, I think I dont need it right now, I never have one melted, or any other problem. And if I wanna change it to Deans for example, I have to invest the whole thing to replace all of my runner's connectors. So I'll stick with Tamiyas for now. My questions is which one is better, just buy the connector with cable installed (ready-to-use)or just the connectors and install cable by myself ? Where can I get the crimper ? how much is it ? I know we can use the crimper to get that done, but if its kinda hassle and the succes rate is kinda low, I would rather buy the ready-to-use one. Pliers ? out of question for me, I tried this way and throw away more connectors than I originally needed to buy. (no patience hehe...) Here's where I need answer/opinion since I have no experience with the crimper. My idea is to get the crimper and then I can buy and set-up as much connectors as I want, right ? maybe, maybe not. You Guys please tell me.... Thx hsw21
