  1. Hi I just bought a Tamiya truck but needs work, especially for the cable and connectors. If I wanna replace the connectors, which is better to get ? the one with cable installed or just the connectors only which I have to install the cables to it ? (cheaper). I used to have a problem with installing/soldering the cable to the connector, but I think actually its not supposed to be soldered, we supposed to use some kind of clamp to clamp the cable to the connector. Does anyone know where can I get the clamp like that ? And if its easy that way ? (using the clamp), or still better getting the connector with cables installed ? Thanks hsw21
  2. Hi Guys I'm just getting a Twin Detonator. And Im also not really happy with the short shocks. By seeing some TD with long shocks, i would like to buy a pair of them too, can you give me some information about which one is that ? where to buy ? and how much ? And also what sets of shock would be best for them ? Thanks hsw21
  3. Dirt Trasher !!!!! Cheap on ebay, I got mine for $89 for almost new buggy plus radio plus charger and battery and..fully ball raced. It looks like the owner bought complete combo from Tower Hobbies then soon, got bored and sell it. When I got it, I just need to charge the battery and voila...its running. (it even has the AA battery for the controller). Looks good, good run in the dirt and pavement. Worst come to the worst, I can just throw away everything because its so cheap. (actually...not really...hehehe, I will not throw any Tamiyas). I run it hard, hit this and that, but never breaks. Hope thats help. Tamiya !!!
  4. Twin Detonator and Mighty Bull is based exactly from the same chasis, right ? While the TD has 2 motors and gearbox, how about the Mighty Bull ? Is it just have an empty gearbox in the front or does it have different thing ? Thx hsw21
  5. Hi Can you give me some info about what shocks is best for the KB ? Thanks hsw21
  6. Hi cardesigner I think youre right about make it a monthly meet instead of trying to get everybody on certain date. I'm looking forward to go to this meet because I love Tamiya, but to run it alone is kinda sucks and Tamiya doesnt play well with other brand I mean we ussualy run it realistically, not just bash it, jump it and abuse it. Hopefully we all can make it soon. hsw21
  7. Guys I wanna run my King Blackfoot on the parking lot (my office parking lot). I did it several time with all stock KB. After a while I wanna make it better. Here's what I want: -Fast (fast for the KB, not like nitro cars and stuff). -More stable. Can you Guys give me opinion about what parts should I replace/use or maybe you Guys have other ideas, I'm open to it. One more thing, What lexan body can I use on my KB ? I want a nice looking and how can I mount it since the KB have a fixed height body mount ? (When mounting, I want a neat instalation, its OK to modified something, but I dont like the "messed up/looks bad" way. Thanks Guys. hsw21
  8. I'm sorry but March 26-27 will not work for me. March 26 = my son 1 month old party. March 27 = Easter day (I might go with my wife to church or wherever she wants so I will get a permission later to go to the drive with you Guys) hehe.... Sorry.. How about other weekend ? But if you Guys really want that date, you Guys can just go without me, and I will try to catch the next drive. hsw21
  9. Guys I think TowerHobbies has one about a while ago, and now they dont have it anymore. Do any of you Guys know where can I still buy it ? Thx hsw21
  10. Cool... Finally we can do what the European do, The Tamiya meeting/drive. I always wanna do this and kinda jealous to them because their country is smaller so arranging a meeting/drive like this is kinda easy. But not anymore, yoohhoooo... Im looking forward to do this, and hoping i'm free at the date we gonna drive together. hsw21
  11. Hi Toykid OK, so still someone famous heh ? Good, I'll be honored to run my Tamiyas with all of you Guys. Just let me know when and where whenever you're ready. And you still havent answer my question about which cars should I run at that place. (I dont know the place, so since you know the place, you can tell me better). Thanks hsw21
  12. Hi Toykid SS= Sand Scorcher ? Jun= Tamiya's David Jun ? Yeah just let me know when we gonna do this. hsw21
  13. Hi Toykid. I always interested in something like this. Please let me know when and where in Malibu (or maybe somewhere else ?). So I can tell you if I can make it or not. Oh by the way, I live in L.A area, so Malibu is not that far. For that Malibu place, what car is suitable ? I have a: -Tamiya Hummer -Tamiya Blackfoot -Tamiya Dirt Trasher -Tamiya Terra Crusher (nitro), oh I forgot no nitro, right ? -Traxxas Emaxx. and soon: -Twin Detonator. (its on its way) Thanks a lot hsw21
  14. Guys, I'm planning to get Tamiya Mighty Bull for bashing around my office parking lot. I have several cars/trucks, electric and nitro, so this is just for fun (but could be a little serious too). I choose this truck because it looks so good and its 2 WD (simple maintenance, longer run time, and donuts !!). I feel like, most of us (American), driving a big nasty beast truck with lift and big tires on the freeway (thats my concept for this plan). First, I'm gonna drive it all stock ( just fully ball-raced ) just to familiar myself and maybe enjoying the truck in the beginning. Second, when I got bored, I will put BL motor in it (or do something else) to make it exciting again. What you Guys think about this ? Sounds good or you Guys have different/better idea ? Any other opinion will gladly accepted. Thanks Guys HSW21
  15. Touareg and Hornet are very different in characteristic. I love to have both (but I cant right now). Touareg is based on XC chasis which is good for trialing/trailing (someone help me spelling here please), you know those cross country kind of thing, which ussually in lower speed but more realistic driving looks. While the Hornet is a pure basher/racer (was), which is ussually faster in run. Dont get me wrong, of course you can put fast/slow motor in Touareg and Hornet and make them the same speed, but Touareg will not runs good fast while the Hornet will bored you to death if it is slow. Hope thats helps. hsw21
  16. What is a good brushless system to buy if I want to use it in either Tamiya TL-01 and or my E-Maxx ? Do I need different kind, one for truck type and one for sedan ? Thanks HW
  17. I think its still a good packs. Maybe (just from my understanding) as long as your car is not a high drain type (like Traxxas E-Maxx), I think any packs would do just fine. Hope thats helps, and anybody who can add or correct me if I'm wrong, go ahead. HW quote:Originally posted by jedzukiHi all. [] I want two more batts for my cars. 2000-2400mAh NICd types. Are the Modelsport or Team Orion ones any good? Or should I get genuine Sanyo ones? My charger won't do hydrides, so sticking with cadmium for now- until I sell off some SRB bits at least. [] Many Thanks. id="quote">id="quote">
  18. Hi How about the Wild Dagger ? Same exact thing like the Twin Detonator ? Should I consider the Wild Dagger since I'm sure I can get one for cheaper price from eBay. Oh one more thing, Is the Mighty Bull comes with ball bearings ? I think it comes with ball bearings but only in the drive trains, right ? I think for now, I'm kinda lean towards the Mighty Bull for its simplicity (2WD), good looking, its ready to run and its RED. While for this type of chasis, the off-road capability would be sucks anyway, right ? (suspension travel is too short). Thanks HW
  19. Hi Mike Thanks for the reply But what I want to know is which one better for baching ? 2WD or 4Wd ? and why ? Thank you HW
  20. Guys. I have some TL-01 type of car (NSX and Opel) and would like to make it fast. And when I say it fast, I mean FAST... Is using a brushless motor would give me what I want ? If yes, what change/adjustment should I do if I want to put a brushless motor in my car. Thank you
  21. Hi I just thinking to get a new truck for bashing in my office parking lot. I was thinking of Twin Detonator for 4 WD and Mighty Bull for 2 WD. I was and still Tamiya freak, but with a busy work and newborn baby, I'm kinda left out of whats new about Tamiya. Is the Mighty Bull only come in XB version ? OK guys, so please give me your opinion about which one to get. FYI I was using Blackfoot kind of family so far. Like the looks so far but not really like the performance. (flips easily and when thats happens, also damage the "realistic looking" body). Thas why I'm looking the one with lexan body. Again, thx a lot Guys. HW
  22. Hey ToyKid... Very god idea you have there. Im in LA too.
  23. Hi... Congrats for the 1st Tamiya meeting. I'm planning to go there, but need some help. I live in L.A and I'm new in the U.S. so far all I know is Los Angeles. OK here is what I need. If I'm going from LAX, what airport should I go to in CT ? Is accomodation easy ? [?] Thx hsw
  24. Hi Guys... Just an idea...how about people in their area meet somehow, just to know who's who as a start, for example: people in LA area, meet somewhere, just to introduce themself, and same thing with people in area A, area B, and so on. Possibly they will be a bashing friend (for a start) since they live close to each other. I think this would help because to organize such a big event maybe we can start from something small like this. Again...just an idea for now.
  25. Hi I live in Los Angeles area. Having one meeting for the west coast and another one for the eastcoast sounds good. Do we need another one in the middle? YES...I am very interested in this meeting/event. I'm a Tamiya freak, and for this, if I can, I would be willing to volunteer myself to help out.
