Tamiya 47381 - Super Astute (2018)
SteppenwolfAUT replied to Grastens's topic in Re-Release Discussions
I now finished mine with PS-57 Pearl White and PS-31 Smoke (for the undertray and the gear cover). I am currently thinking of swapping the shocks for the DF-03 Hop-Ups out of aluminium. I have them on my DF-03MS. The motor installed is my 25 year old Kyosho Mega 12x2. -

Did you use the primer before the PS paint? I might spray springs on my old TA-01 as well and also have the Tamiya Primer spray here. -

The shocks seem to be too soft (even though I filled the rears with hard and the front with medium damper oil). Any suggestions for other dampers or at least harder springs? -

I am not sure about the o-rings in BOTH of the rear wheel axle and joint cup. It makes the drive shafts stuck a bit, meaning if I adjust the upper rods to the 26mm distance as stated in the manual, the rear wheels need more force to be turned as if I set the rods to 28+mm or remove one of the o-rings. Anyone else experienced that? By the way, I shimmed both the rear axles in the uppers and the differential gear in the gearbox, which I both found to have a lot of play by factory settings. -

In case somebody also wants to build the 2018 kit with better screws, here's the list. I just ordered a set of hex screws for the TRF201 (covers most of the list above) plus some extra screws and bearings at modellbau-werkstatt.at. I did that also for my DF-03MS before and everything was fine. -

Unfortunately the 2018 manual isn't online anymore. Could somebody please send it to me or upload it again? I'll have my SA for Christmas and would like to buy some ball bearings and proper hex screws for the assembly before, so I need to make a list.... thanks! -

Oh dear, I just made a horrible experience with this dealer. I'll never buy from that guy again. He receives the "Most Unfriendly Dealer Of The Decade" medal from me
