    m05 gearing

cool, that sounds about right. i dont intend to track race mine though, ive got a nice dead straight flat long road to play on so i was going for out right speed. thanks joe

OK, thanks for the help, i will probably build the kit with standard motor at first and think about brushless later, would any one recommend a size of brushless that the chassis could handle and possibly a sensored one to as that's what my ESC is, and possibly even a trade if someone wants a low turn motor. thanks again joe

really? what happened? i bet the back end didnt spinn out though.
  4. hi, im currently building a brushless m05 chassis, i would like to know is there any way of changing the gearing other than just changing the pinion? i have a very low turn brushless ready for it, so does anyone know what sort of gear ratio i should be aiming for? i amuse i want as low ratio as possible? also i will be buying the hardened gear set for extra strength. thanks for the help joe
  5. well 4.5 is pretty close to 8.5, maby it will work, still trying to think of a way to rais the gear ratio though. thanks
  6. so if heat is the issue that will kill the motor it can be eliminated and the motor wont die? ---> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/540-550-Water-Coolin...=item3363296e24
  7. ok, is there any way to raise the final gear ratio, or buy a gearbox which has a high FGR? or dose anyone want to swap whith a higher turn motor, novak sugest a 25.5t motor, how boring does that sound!
  8. i tried leaving it for a minute but it did not set, it has two buttons mode and set but the set button changes the value so when you press it it dose not lock the mode. thanks joe
  9. ok so in terms of power needed to run the motor is higher mah quite iportiant? or is being a lipo more importiant? there is a mode which disengages the lipo protection when using 4-6cell ni-mh, i asume you dont need lipo protection when not using lipo. [another question relevant to the matrix evolution esc is when you change modes there isnt a way to keep it on the chosen mode, eg. there are 4 modes and if mode 4 is chosen you press "mode again" and it stays on mode 4, but if you want it to stay on mode 1,2,or3 you cant press "mode" again because it changes to the next mode. the only thing i can think of is turning it of when the chosen setting is reached but im not sure if this is right, the manual isnt very clear on this subject] thanks joe
  10. im using a 5500mAh ni-mh at the moment i dont know the c rating though, the motor draws 413 watts. what is the importance of it being a lipo though because i know the esc can handle both. do lipos have more power? if it is just the connector that is the problem than what conector is recomended to handle most current? thanks joe
  11. are there any recomended size and brand of lipo i should be using
  12. gave the battery a full charge and took it out for its first test run, just in partial throttle, went like stink though.
  13. thanks for the replies, i apreciate the intrest. well the reason ive chosen such a fast motor is that i think a good/interesting project is best based around being over the top and making something a bit different, the first part is making it work and then making it work well. so would the same size lipo battery be apropriate? thanks joe
  14. it cuts out instantly so heat isnt an issue, but i am using a tamiya connector so this might be an issue. also i assume running it with the standard driveshaft and diff wont be a problem?, (just for a short while anyway)
