  1. quote:Originally posted by minijoshI'm not going to modify my tranny. I should have stated that in the first place. id="quote">id="quote">A plain old Sport Tuned is okay. Plenty of speed etc.
  2. quote:Originally posted by kingeddieso can i use my gear box with a full set of super astute internals or do i need the case as well? id="quote">id="quote">The gear case is identical to the King Cab. Knock yourself out []
  3. quote:Originally posted by pleiku68Do you know if the super Astute and the Vanquish have the same tranny? You added the Super Astute Tranny to the King Cab/Astute was there any mounting problem...Thanks Jerry id="quote">id="quote">Nope, and the Vanquish is basically a plastic Avante all 'round.
  4. quote:Originally posted by ideal2kIf I remember correctly, the balldiff in the ASTUTE (NOT SUPER) is the same as the balldiff in the rear of the Egress, and as such I would imagine that the GEAR DIFF from the VANQUISH/Avante/2001 would fit right into the gearbox of the ASTUTE (NOT SUPER).. id="quote">id="quote">An Avante one will fit, but it'll need some work as one part where the drive cups go in is longer than the other. If you fix that up by cutting it (it's plastic) it'll work perfectly.
  5. Great topic guys [8D] I'd have to agree with DJTheo, just run the cars without worrying about whether you'll break something, or if you're lucky grab a couple of the same chassis so you've got spares. I have a busted up Super Champ which I've badly converted in a Sand Scorcher with a bunch of home made parts and mods. If you remove all the silly expensive parts from SRBs you end up with a tough runner which is a great deal of fun to run. I used to worry about breaking things but then it started to take the fun out of driving old R/Cs. Why make an old expensive car a "runner" if you're not gonna run it? I only have two models that I'll never use because of their weaknesses & lack of spare parts. Check out some of the old Tamiya promo vids, they drive a Super Champ off a huge cliff and it when it hits the ground & carries on as if nothing happened! Talk about being built to last [}]
  6. quote:Originally posted by pro-4x4Thanks Renco I may have to start my showroom then![] We have to beat the Aussies!! (at something?)[] id="quote">id="quote">No problemo [] We did, we successfully defended the America's Cup...then lost it again.
  7. quote:Originally posted by pro-4x4Another Kiwi here- South Waikato, Moo-loo land[8D] New to here-How do I post a photo in the forums? Do you have to be a subscriber? or just a member? id="quote">id="quote">Excellent, another Kiwi [] You need to have a webpage or site you can link to I think. I've never tried it myself. You can't upload a pic here from your computer's hard-drive unfortunately.
  8. quote:Originally posted by kingeddiehelp needed quickly pls, will a geared diff from a super astute fit my king cab? thanks[] id="quote">id="quote">No it won't, the Super Asute's gear diff is a different pitch. Open & take the diff out on both cars, you'll see what I mean [V]
  9. What's the matter with the gears, or is it the drive shafts? The Fox gearbox is pretty tough. There's no alternative sorry [V]
  10. Ya know where I'm from [] It's radical, lol.
  11. Yah, it was a great match. Didn't have a few brews to celebrate though since I was just plain knackered by the end of the day and I didn't get home 'til about 2 am. Seems as though there was no winner as it was a draw. Oh well, next time eh[?] [] Hey Alex, did you get my email about the Hornet guff? I'm back in Kiwi land in case you're wondering.
  12. Seriously, don't worry about it too much - I'm used to it. Hey, we won the cricket and my g/f & I had some kick *** seats [] Funny what you said about trying to get stuff organised a couple of weeks beforehand, sounds like a broken record! You should read back a bit in this thread (it's been around since 2002) cos it's all "yeah we'll do this & that" but nothing happens. I'll most likely be over here again in March or thereabouts []
  13. quote:Originally posted by JamesmccStupid question but either I don't know or can't remember what SRB stands for? id="quote">id="quote">SRB = Still Really Broke [:0]
  14. quote:Originally posted by DrewboyausMate, I actually live in West Brunswick (Inner North West). I obviously have transport. Is there anything down your side of town? Cheers, Drew. id="quote">id="quote">There's a BMX track down here. That's about the best thing.
  15. Oh, I could do something Thurs evening but I'm not too up to scratch on this big place, I know place names, just not how to get there. If you live out in the south eastern 'burbs we could do something tomorrow.
  16. Us Australasian folk aren't very good at organising are we? Drew I am going to see my team get whupped on Sunday so that day is out of the question. Alex, we may as well run some cars at Templestowe - if you're allowed [] Can bring along the bug and the mini since I haven't even taken that out of the box it came over in yet... How about lending us a couple of cars for Saturday Drew? We'll take photos and say you were there []
  17. quote:Originally posted by DrewboyausSorry guys, the barbie ran till after six!! Saturday is no good what about Sunday? I finally have a completely clear day. No Fox though, I've already pulled it apart. But the HS2 will probably run! id="quote">id="quote">Sunday's no good for me as I'm at the cricket at the Telstra Dome. I can only do something on the Saturday again. It's also my last w/e in Melbourne. Where do you coach cricket? I guess the game goes all day, yeah? I didn't bring 11 kilos of r/c junk for one weekend ya know! [:0] [V] Well I have driven a few cars around elsewhere by my lonesome, lol.
  18. I have one of those still in nice cosmetic condition, but it doesn't work too well anymore...
  19. Sat. Dec. 4th anyone? I gotta get those Hornet arms off ya somehow Alex. Kinda interested in one of those Shueys too [:I] BTW, I put up some photos. They're not great but they're better than nothing [] Mike.
  20. Thanks, got the email too []
  21. Alex, I haven't heard from Willy yet (and it's 1.30 am at the mo') so if you read this by tomorrow morn please email me your cell number or something. You may have to pick me up. Hope that's not a hassle [8)] Mike.
  22. quote:Originally posted by DrewboyausIndeed it might, Got the missus' family birthday doo probably from about midday on Sunday, but either before that or even after (I don't think it will go all afternoon) would be good. id="quote">id="quote">Sounds good [] I can't do anything until after 1 pm on Sunday so if anyone else is keen Sunday may also be okay for a bit of a blat. Hope you get the Fox going before then, trying to fiddle about with the radio box on one of those things is a right pain in the a$$ if you're impatient [:0]
  23. quote:Originally posted by Incredible_SeriousI'm there Saturday. Don't know how many cars just yet.... but I'll be there... Where? lol... shall we start at Templestowe and watch some racing? Alex id="quote">id="quote">Sounds as though it's just us three again, lol. I guess watching some racing at Templestowe will be a good place to start. I'm only bringing the Beetle & Astute...and maybe the mini - I haven't decided. I thought racing was usually on Sundays? Is anyone keen for doing something on Sunday also? Could be your ticket, Drew []
  24. So who's coming on Sat. then [?]
  25. quote:Originally posted by WillyChangBought that new mobile yet, Mick? Still got me #? Won't be able to make it 4th/5th though. [] id="quote">id="quote">Picking one up a phone tomorrow. I've lost the piece of paper I had it on from way back in May [|)] Don't worry about the LHS stuff, I picked up a few batts the other day [] Bummer you can't make it the next weekend.
