Somerset Beach Bash #2 (April 24th)
Bag Of Badgers replied to karooha MB's topic in Meetings & Events
Don’t want to put a damper on things but it will be high tide 12:04 on the 24th and those of us that were there early know that it came up to the road that led onto the beach. Info got from http://www.n-somerset.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/...deTimes2011.pdf (add 4 mins). The following Sunday 1st of May low tide is at 12.22. Any thoughts? ATB Matt -
As above, top day! Got home just to hear “Gentlemen, Start Your Engines”. Cars out of the boxes and bags, will start to sort them tomorrow. Thanks again all. ATB Matt

Just replaced the windscreen and body mounts on the VBL, just found holes in the body (not the ones for the body mounts!) and forgot how little there is to it. See you all tomorrow (I might have some Bacon for Mad Ax!) ATB Matt

Be good to see you Rich. Just charging up the Lipo's, so BE Maxxy will be coming out to play, just have to give it a smear of Vaseline .

Fair play to you. I am getting the cake sorted tomorrow. It’s only this year that I have got some shelf queens, but most of my stuff is for running, some harder than others. Looks like I will have with me:- E-Maxx (might, if I have the space bring its EVIL bother the “Brushless Edition” on 14.8V and 22.2V, be afraid, be very afraid ) E-Revo (Just had it delivered off the bay today and changed all the connectors back to Traxxas, sorted out the ESC and put on 2.4) Baja Champ, the thing of hate!!! Buggy Champ Re-Re Sand Scorcher Gold Lunch Box, 5th Shock mod and on 10.5 Brushless BFX on 10.5 Brushless Really looking forward to Sunday. Just got packs to charge and lunch to make. ATB Matt

All I am going to add, it is from the late 80's, and has something to do with classic models. No it's not a car, so don't get your hopes up! The Show'n'Shine needs to be done before anything starts running . Mine won't win anything but I am looking forward to see others models. We have tried getting a pic of all the models together at bashes before, so that’s worth a go. Looks like me and the little lady will be down early; we usually are for this sort of thing. Will put a post up on here when we are there. ATB Matt.

Dean. I and Lemming use a Y lead in our E-Maxx’s with the 2.4 setups we have, no problems with amperage or voltage. Unless Lemming is coming and brings his peg board, then no. They are not difficult to make, all the colours and splits on the back of a cereal box and some pegs with the corresponding colours/splits written onto them. “Simples”, as that annoying Russian Meerkat says ! Karooha MB said in his first post “My truck has cooking facilities, a kettle, power for chargers etc.” I usally have a couple of 12V chargers with me aswell, so you can clip one on onto your car battery if you want. Just been fettling the SRBs. Both now have Sport Tuned motors and Ball Diffs. Awaiting a twin ESC and that should be all the preparation done. ATB Matt

Car prep took a back seat today. Went off to my local hobby shop, the Swindon Model Centre today for a bit of inspiration and some grovelling. Bought a Stadium Blitzer for myself and grovelled 2 vintage pieces of Tamiya memorabilia one of which will be a prize for the “laugh out loud/best moment of the day” and another as a Birthday Present!!! The cake is now sorted and will have a Tamiya theme. Still looking at what cars to bring……just don’t know. Will have to start cycling my packs as I am not brining any Lipo cars. Looking forward to next Sunday. ATB Matt

I have some good news and some bad news. Good news:- The tide will be out; low water is at 14:09, The beach and car park will be open depending on the weather, i.e. no gales. The long range forecast is dry with gusts up to 13mph, with a temp of about 6C, so wrap up warm!! Will be quite. So no problems with Nitros Bad news The beach will be dirty, as it will not have been cleaned for the spring tourist invasion. So there will be a lot of debris around the high water mark. Dogs are on the beach and we know that not all dog owners clean up after their pets . The local shops and tourist traps may not be open. This information was gained from a friend with a static at Unity Farm. Please don’t take this as a negative; I am trying not to be, just been stung before on a blind bash site, the Cider Bashers know what I mean . If anyone for darkest zummerset could take a peek down that way it would be great, I would but it is a bit of a run from Swindon. Have some Birthday treats in hand for the special people, may be even a prize for best laugh out loud moment of the day, Mad Ax and my surreal conversations excluded!!! I’m still unsure for what to bring, it could be a case of Maxxy + 1 new friend!!! The SRB’s, Baja Champ (thing of hate), brushless LB, BFX and detuned Slash should be in attendance. Most on 2.4 so no worries about errant transmitters, don’t fancy chasing a RC in to the Bristol Channel even if I could do with a mud pack. Looking forward to the first run out of the year and meeting new faces and some old (some older than others, TOPCAT!). ATB Matt

Hi. Happy birthday (for today and the future)!!! The date is in the diary, so work can take a running jump!!! We will have a Re-re SS and Buggy Champ as they seem to keep drawing us to W-S-M, will not have too much with us as I have an aversion to running stuff in the sand, due to a lack of time these days to give many models a strip down & clean, but should have least an E-Maxx & Wild Dagger as well, might sneak another Beetle body car, if i am allowed?!? Just out of interest, where about in W-S-M are you thinking of doing this? ATB Matt

Hiya. The Cider Bashers still lurk around on TC; we just are not as active as we used to be, LOL. I can only speak from a personal point, but since Sep 2009 I have usually worked 6 days in 7 days over all 3 shifts, only leaving one day to do normal things, or sleep ! This weekend was the first for a long time when I have had it all off. So I made the most of it and had a good play with our Buggy Champ and SS at Weston-S-Mare today, followed up by “Tea for Two” on the pier, cracking! Hamhill is great location; not the best for on road but that is not a problem. The Bunnies seem to keep grass short. We have had great fun there trying to climb the mud banks and general bashing. I am always up for some Tamiya larks, so if I know I can make it me and the little lady will pop on over, it’s a fairly good run down and we like getting out and about. I know this is going to sound like a copout but I get late shouts about working, so can’t say when but will say soon (will give the other Cider Bashers a heads up about this, Sundays seem to best for most when we all get together)! We have many RC’s, Tamiya, Traxxas and others (about 50 in various states of running or repair), so always have a boot full! I have a camera, so can take some shots aswell. Hope to see you soon. Matt

Anyone Up For A New Bristol Or South West Bash?
Bag Of Badgers replied to Deanej10's topic in Meetings & Events
I’m always up for a bash, just name where and when, it is always good to get the toys out, might mean I get off my backside and build some things ! I have been working 7 days a week for most of the year so far, hence the reason for not being around much lately . ATB Matt -

South Wales Meet (cider Bashers) - Everyone Welcome
Bag Of Badgers replied to Lemming's topic in Meetings & Events
Just got to check with the BOSS!!! We are on opposite shifts this week, hope to have and answer tomorrow. ATB Matt -
Good to see everyone again and welcome some new bashers, think we will have to change our names to the "Sunday Lunch Bashers!!!", just wish Suzy would stop talking about Willys all the time !!!!! Good to blow the cobwebs off some of our clan. No major damage. The video jus sums me up, too much power and a lack of traction!!! ATB Matt
-
It has a team Losi 6.5 turn Brushless on 8.4v, probably more power than it should have but thats all the fun!!!! ATB Matt,
-
Don't take mine as normal . ATB Matt
-
We will be bringing:- Onroad TT01D Supra TT01D RX-7 TF-4 Spider (Kyosho) 1/10 & 1/18 Sliders (Team Losi) Offroad VLB BFX Baja Champ VXL Bandit (Traxxas), with new tyres and fixed suspension Slash (Traxxas) also with new tyres E-Maxx. 1/10 & 1/18 Sliders (again). Chargers and Packs. The slash is probably the best candidate for mass jumps!!!!!! ATB Matt
-
There will be a bit of a Traxxas thing going on, Fluff has the E-Maxx and I have a A Bandit VXL and a Slash with a 6.5 turn Brushless setup. As I have said before, they are really strong but have looks only their mother could love. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of Tamiya's models, Traxxas are in a different league when it comes to running. ATB Matt.
-
E-Maxx!!!!!! That will survive, just wait and see the punishment that my Traxxas rc's take!!!! ATB Matt
-
Hopefully we will have:- Traxxas hooligans Lunch Box (may be even dafter!) BFX Sliders & Drifters. Baja Champ (it just loves abuse) Gravel Hound with monster wheels (if I can sort the gearing) Suzy, you mean to tell me that the Clod is still in shock, poor thing !!!
-
We will have spare packs and chargers, we never seem to use all of them!! Ref the GF, why not get her a RC? My better half loves the ones she has got, takes pride in them where as I just go for SPEED, like my next project will be, a bit left field, a move tie in and if you listen to the director a little bit of of the dark prince !!! We will be there about 10:30-11:00, the satnav sugests about 1 3/4 run for us. ATB Matt
