Afternoon all. We are up for another bash, just sorting out some bits, car and otherwise. Any date is good for us always willing to try new areas. We have not given the cars a good run out lately, means I may even get to build my Buggy Champ. ATB Matt & Karan

It was a pleseant way to spend a Sunday. just a bit worried about the grass eating Wild Dagger. Not to many problems for us to fix. Rage broke a lower arm again, that's all 4 now. VBL spent more time off it's wheels than on, need to put a better bar on the back. Bandit poped a shock collar, Slash and Maxwel as nutty as normal!!!. On to Wales this month. ATB Matt

The 10.5T setup has a Kv rating of 4100rpm. We are using the smallest gear at the mo with no heat issues so are going to step up to a 20 tooth pinion. if you look at the last these Vids you can see it in action, the only mods made are full brearings, oil shocks and it's on 2.4Ghz. Here they are http://www.tamiyaclub.com/moviecomment.asp?id=3742 & http://www.tamiyaclub.com/moviecomment.asp?id=3735. ATB Matt

I was thinking this Bankholiday, Mon 4th? City are away on the Sunday 3rd, so no problems there if we want to do the Sunday (not much help, I know) I probably will not have Maxwell on the day, but will have a hopped up Topforce, A Team Kyosho TF-4 Spider Type-R and (hopefully) a Gravel Hound on some sort of monster tyre plus the normal mob! I know it's a late shout, but the Monday looks like the best of the weather at the mo. ATB Matt

Has Anyone Put A Vxl Brushless System In A Traxxas Slash
Bag Of Badgers replied to arh21's topic in Other makes
Did someone mention my name? OK, what I have got is a Bandit VXL and a Slash with a Losi 1/10 Xcelorin S 6.5T Brushless Combo. Both are run on 8.4V and this is my thoughts on them. The VXL System is just plug and play, comes with the Traxxas connectors, very easy to set up but, and this is a big one in my eyes, you can only switch the power down to 50% and the brakes are poor! I can testify for this as I always seem to be jumping in the air when others have a go (Lemming!!!) as they misjudge there breaking point or do I just pick poor places to stand! The only problems I have had are a sticking button, known problem and easy to fix and you must disconnect the battery to turn it off, don’t use the button, Traxxas recommend this themselves. The Bandit is stock mechanically. The Slash has the Xcelorin system. It’s not as easy to set up and needed a bit of jiggery pokery to fit as the ESC and motor are hard wired, I just removed the body mounts and replace them once installed, that’s not to say it’s hard, I also needed to put Traxxas connectors on as that is what all my 8.4V packs have. It has 3 standard programs from a hard and punchy race setup, only really useful on road in a Slash, through to a much softer programme, that I will use off-road. All the programs are very tweak-able using a plug in pin-card system, very easy to do, it has a dedicated on/off switch with a setup button attached to the switch. At the mo I am running 19 tooth pinion on a 90 spur but I probably need to lose another 1-2 teeth off the pinion as the temp were a little high, nothing major, just something to watch out for. It’s mental, lot more low down power that the Velineon system but that’s probably due the gearing. The only change that I would recommend for both of the is to go 2.4 GHZ on the radio gear, both of mine are, it gives me a lot of confidence that I am not going to have any interference problems and when you are bashing it can happen and you don’t want that heart in mouth moment! If I was to suggest a system, it would be the Xcelorin, just because it’s so tuneable. I know others have used Ez-Run systems as well with much success, so that might be something else to look at? The Xcelorin is about £135 and the Velineon system was about £170 but I see that Modelsport are now offering them for £119. The £16 difference is worth it in my opinion. Hope this is of some help, if you need any more info please just ask, I will try my best. ATB Matt -

Hi everyone. This is the suggestion I will make is as follows for a Cider Bashers Summer Tour, anyone is welcome, please only vote if you wish to attend, just thought is would be great idea to get dates and locations sorted early. A Bristol bash in the next few weekends, so that makes it early May. A bash then at Ham Hill, Yeovil, late May/early June and finally a bash at Ogmoor (South Wales) and its local area in late June. Dates for Bristol Bash, Sun 3rd/Mon 4th or Sunday 10th. In and around Hengrove Leisure Park. Dates for Ham Hill Bash, Yeovil, Sun24th/Mon 25th, Sun 31st & Sun 7th June. Dates for Ogmoor Bash (and area) Sun 21st/28th June. As ever this is just a suggestion and my thoughts. Please comment. ATB Matt (sorry should have put the Ogmore bash as june!)

Hi all, What follows is my take and feelings on things at the mo (some not to be taken too seriously! ). Bristol Bash. The KFC is now open, it would be quite when we start but it would get more busy as the day drew on, don’t think it would be wise to run on an operational car park. There is the industrial/trading estate the other side of Hengrove Way that was empty when we last had a look on a Sunday, there is also the possibility of a site a bit further towards Bedminster for some offloading. A lot of new people have/had shown an interest in joining for some fun and as a location Bristol is very central for everyone and easy to find. Somerset Bash (Ham Hill, PooBeGone or another location) Ham Hill, various surfaces to run on but more of a biased towards off-road, no problems with parking or running but as it is a public park IC cars may not be the best idea. Fantastic views of Somerset!! PooBeGone, Leaf Litter and dirt to run on (and caring K9 owner’s presents! DOG OWNERS KEEN IT UP ! Rant over). Very small car park if a lot of people turned up. South Wales Bash. Ogmoor, every surface you could want, not the best for on road as there is a lot of stones and gravel on the car park, rocks, sand, dirt (no POO) and lots of short grass to run everything else on. You will have to pay to get into Wales but you get to flee for free and have to pay for car parking. The distance of travel could be a problem but it is worth it. Swindon Bash . My Back Garden, only grass and crazy paving to run on, some strange bloke constantly talking out of his backdoor and his enduring wife to put up with, plus their furry friends (2 Rabbits and a Fluff ball of a cat). Constant access to a fridge, stocked with beer , dairy products, fresh veg and meat. The loo has soft toilet paper!!!! On a serious note, there are some places to bash a round here in Swindon (we even have Radio 1’s One Big Weekend here this year), depends what you want too do and if anyone wanted to come this Far East? So my thoughts would be to have the bash in Bristol, as there is new people that want to come, it is central for everyone, we can go across to the park if you want some off road action. The weather is getting better so if we get this one in the next couple of weeks we can then go to a dedicated off-road one next soon. As ever, only my thoughts. ATB Matt

Top work as ever! The cars that were mine and the good ladies were as follows:- Slash (now 6.5T Brushless 8.4v) Bandit VXL 8.4v E-Maxx (White) Supra TT-01D RX-7 TT01D with full LEDs (Karan's) Lunchbox (10.5T Brushless) Hotshot 17X2 (karan's) Steve, I'm sorry I did not tell you the VBL had that much speed, poor thing, that's the VBL not you!!!! I must take the blame for the Slash and Bandit being a low flying upside down objects for most of the day and I know that you have more footage of my special style of driving plus me getting some exercise!!!!! ATB Matt

Morning all, First of all, thanks to everyone that turned up, it was great to see some new vehicles, the bikes were ace, it was fantastic to see an F1 car running, I would love to have a NASCAR but I think they would have even less control, more power than a F1 car, less down force and the most basic of chassis !!! Not too many breakages for us, a lose pinion on the RX-7, now fixed and a broken lower arm on the Rage. Learnt that I need to gear the Slash down more and reduce the punch on the ESC, that I need to make a better wheelie bar for the VLB and control my throttle finger better. It looks like that we may have another venue across the road for on road, I forgot to check it out once we left, sorry. Any thoughts on the next one, when (soon!) and where. Take care all Matt.
