Cider Bashers - Spooky Halloween Meet

Morning all, Finally got time to catch up with things. Lemming glad to hear that all the clan was OK in the end, must admit that I was a bit off, had the manic bit over the weekend now having the low, it probably did not help that I only had about 4hours sleep the night before and the one before that. It was a bit of a shame that that Maxxy could not train the youngun!!! Suzy, as an Asthmatic, the best advice I can give for colds are, Paracetamol in the day and Vicks Vaporub at night, plus Chicken Soup (Chicken Noodle soup work best for me ). It works just as well as all the over the counter stuff! Good to hear that the road sweeper only suffered a slight injury. Looking forward to the Vids. Take care everyone. Matt -

Just looked at the weather forecasts for the weekend and its good. Looking to bring;- Off Road VLB Blackfoot Extreme Baja Champ Falcon (if I can fix the hubs) Mini off Road TT Hotshot (now 4WD and geared correctly) Rage (now rebuilt and keeping clear of Big Bully Hummer!!!) Bonkers Stuff Traxxas Bandit (See what other innocent things it can pick on) 8.4V mystery thing!?!?! 16.8V mystery thing!?!?! Nitro (if we have the space) HPI MT2 Lots of batteries, chargers and a big black plastic sack for when things let go, which they will. Still thinking about a terrifying car costume (my driving should be enough to frighten most), had some thoughts but by skills are not up to it, I will let Karan see what she can come up with. Catch you all soon Matt -

I had a similar thought for one of my bashed up Falcon bodies but I did not think you would all appreciate a rotting road-kill Badger draped over my car! -

Cider Bashers - Spooky Halloween Meet

Hi all. Went for the 19th but either is good. Just got my Hilux Racer to fix, the diff keeps slipping, think its more than a simple strip down, more parts to buy . Lemming, I am dreading to ask this, what up with Maxxy? -
Thought Fluff had a smile on her face ! Dont worry about the Rat; it will not cost much (the Hummer is just a big BULLY ). The Bandit is tough, I just dont want to be around when it lets go, I think plastic will fly everywhere. Think I will have to just nip the slipper a bit more to get the front up more but that will mean even less control . I was really pleased with the speed of the Winger, just need to gear it down a bit. It was good to see the speed back on your vintage RCs. Looks like Maxy will be getting a playmate in the future. Suzy did you mange to go on your flight? Take care all. MattunKaz

We were going to give it up as a bad job on the way down, the weather was fowl to start but as soon as we entered the Cider country, it perked up; glad it did, even if my wallet does not ! The attrition to my cars is as follows: XTM Rage, Broken front bumper and steering linkage Gravel Hound, New tires (will go for on-road) Hi-Lux Racer, Slipping Diff, AGAIN! Not to bad really. Managed to fix the Bandit when it stripped its gears and should have an answer to the stuttering TT Hotshot, many thanks to Lemming for both. No damage to Karans vehicles. I also managed to injure the E-Maxx (sorry Steve) but he got his revenge, I never had to do a push up that you could drive a car under; there is a trend here, whenever Steve drives the Bandit I end up having to jump at some point . Must get together again soon, where and when, I dont know what to suggest? Enough rambling from me, take care everyone. ATB Matt & Karan. PS Pms inbound

Steve, the weather forecast on the BBC was a lot better, showers V early in the morning, then a lot clearer. Just finished sorting out what we are packing; now just charging the last packs. See you all tomorrow Matt

Buggymuncher, the centre shaft would be much appreciated by Kaz; perhaps you can suggest other mods when we are there? The shaft failed around the centre support, it melted the bush and shaft! She will have a replacement bearing for when we go, the LHS is trying to order a shaft for us but Tamiya seem to place them low down the pecking order, which is a shame as they are really good couple. At the moment she has the standard plastic pinion and it just does not pick up well with the 19T motor she has fitted to the TT Hotshot. Just looking for a smaller one, I guess? Rich, enjoy your holiday catch you at the next one. Many thanks in advance, Matt and Karan.

Your a top man Steve, thanks in advance. ATB Matt

Just looked at the long range forecast (for what its worth), the forecast for sunday is “Partly Cloudyâ€. If some one could post a report from that neck of the woods in the morning, it would be very much appreciated, as it will be an early start for us as well and its not a good route what with the holiday traffic. Lemming, I am now expecting to see the E-Maxx being back to its Bashing Best ! Found out the problem with the VLB, the motor wire had worn through and was shorting on the shock, which will teach me. Hoping to bring, On-road. M-04L Beetle Gravel Hound (4300Kv Brushless) Off-road Falcon (Rear wheel hub issues, should be able to fix!?!?) Baja Champ Blackfoot Extreme (now with glued tires) Toyota Hi-Lux Monster Racer Boomerang with Winger Body Gold VBL. Bonkers Thing Bandit VXL and many tires (need to adjust the slipper) Others Tam Tech Gear Hotshot (only RWD as centre shaft failed) XTM Rage (AKA the RAT) Quick question for buggymuncher if I may? Have you any idea where I can get a smaller metal pinion for the Hotshot as the good lasses one is a bit over geared with the stock pinion? Looking forward to see everyone again. ATB Matt
-
Yep!!
-
Either date is good, would prefer the 10th but we will go with the flow. Sundays are the best for us, work and all that (also time to get things fixed if we have a run on Saturday ). Shame we wont be able to fly the Nitros but that leaves more space for the other cars!!!! Got a complete set of 27 MHz crystals now, so no conflicts of bands. Mad Ax, did you used to work in the Dixons in Bath 4-5 years ago?
-
What that man said above. It all depends on what you want to do. Have fun deciding on what you want . ATB Matt

I can give my opinion on 2 of them if that helps? I have a VLB. It has full bearings, 4 oil shocks and a BZ motor. It always puts a big smile on my face as it bounces about its business. Its about as stable as a child after 2 litres of fizzy drink and a bag of sweets! The little lady has a Blackfoot Extreme also with full bearings, oil shocks and 19x2 motor. It seems to be good at most things and not disappoint at much. If you want to see it in action just look at the Ogmore part1 video http://www.tamiyaclubmovies.com/movies/9788/m0X5493WB0V.wmv. With the mods it taken it from humdrum to a good basher that just keeps on going. I sure others will be along with their help but to add, if I was to buy an all round truck now it would have to be a Traxxas E-Maxx (4WD) or a Stamped VXL (RWD) they are BEASTS! I have a Traxxas Bandit VXL running 8.4V and can say that you would be very pleased by the Stamped VXL or Rustler VXL. Mental speed, very strong, it killed a TT01 in a crash, no damage to mine, but dont worry I am repairing it for the lad, as it was my fault! The front comes up on demand and you can limit the power to 50%. Im another who loves Tamiya but just wishes that they would see what others are doing and take notes.

The more people that want to enjoy my special style of driving the better . I thick the technical term you are looking for your pack is MULLERED (said with the special twang for around these parts)
-
Lets not start a cider debate but for what it's worth, Mendip Magic or any Thatchers is good for me (not to much in my advanced years ). That's a sort of result, only costing you 10; still feel guilty about encouraging you bash that soon after a charge. Good luck with the soldering, it's and old skill that I am re-learning, dam this hobby (addiction?)!!!! Now I got everything sorted when is the next one and where. ATB Matt

Any idea what casued the pack to fail? ATB Matt

Top work. You even managed to make my driving look half decent ! Can't wait for the next bash, got lots of tyres for the Bandit, just hope they can last! Finaly got everything fixed and cleaned. Take care all and see you all soon. ATB Matt'un'Kaz

What an excellent way to spend my birthday !!! Good to meet some new faces. Just got back in after going to Thorpe Park for the day. Stealth does 0-80mph in 2 secs, could I fit that motor in my Bandit and what tyres could I use ? Still have not had the chance to take proper look at mine and Karans cars but the list of damage for ours on the day is as follows:- Mammoth, bent alloy shock tower (should just bend back) and found the air filter! Bandit, bold Tyres after 1 and a bit packs! Baja Champ, just full of sand. Lunchbox ,mystery motor/Esc problem (probably more wet sand somewhere) Beetle, lost a wing mirror. Not too bad. Really, really sorry to hear about all the breakages (explosions in some cases) that everyone suffered. Just got to start the cleaning process now, well tomorrow! Take care and we must have another bash at Ogmore, its got every surface you could want. Looking forward to the next bash, wherever it may be. ATB Matt Ps. forgot to add, Lemming and Lady Lemming, your Son is FANTASTIC!
