My new project arrived today, wife's birthday present to me. I can't wait to get on with this one...
-
So is this what they call a mid life crisis then guys haha Loving this thread, the fox looks great, I must try to detail a driver like that. Thanks for posting sideswipe of course I need one of those now. He was never that popular compared to some of the others but I loved him as he was my first. My brother got a decepticon at the same time, I cannot remember his name or body colour but it had brownish wings with no tail fins and as a robot his head was supposed to be upright rather than back like starscreams. Off to hunt google

84365 CVA Yellow Short Shock Damper Unit Set II
Boothy replied to Boothy's topic in General discussions
Cheers guys I am thinking I might order a set from banzai along with a couple of sport tuned -
So do these guys still work out for buying something small like a couple of sport tuned and a shock set? would customs be interested in small packs? Sport tuned are only £6 each so even with post the saving is huge.
-
Can I just check with those in the know these are correct for VLB? They are very cheap on the bay or from Banzai for a set of four CVA's and I just wanted to check before buying I am not missing something? Also what is the best shock to use for the 3rd shock mod and how can I get a single unit? Andy

So how come when tamiya are still selling this buggy are half the parts no longer available?
-
I don't know if I should feel good or bad I just cost you £127. Congratulations, I look forward to your build thread

Thats a good price, my blitzer was £119 delivered off the bay via modelsport, I had to buy bearings tho, so very similar.
-
Edit, it's a blitzer beetle, only 22 mins left at £81 and a tender post... Be quick
-
I am sure there is a stadium blitzer on the bay at the moment

That is great, I have always fancied collecting G1 trasformers as I was mad about them in the day and was hooked on the cartoon. I must keep my eyes open for sideswipe as that was the first one I ever got. Ahh the memories. Its a funny thing, I am 36 on Sunday and I have a huge hankering for things from my youth
-
I have not run it yet as its been wet here but general reading suggests it should be ok, time will tell I guess.
-
That looks great, I really like the fox and I am loving the driver detail. Forgetting that tho is that a G1 jazz I spy? And who's in the box hiding underneath?

Yep, I sold my monster beetle to my friend back when I was about 15. I had built it with my dad a few years earlier (I am guessing I would of been about ten at the time). Over the years I had often asked him what he had done with it then two years ago he presented me with this:- After quite a few penny's and a little time here she is There is still some stuff to do, I would really like gold wheels and I need to fit the driver. She's using mostly vintage parts but the shell is a blitzer. I would really like to drive it again but I can't quite bring myself to run her yet...

Thanks guys, I will take a look at swapping those over next week, will I need to extend the steering arms if I swap them round? It looks like I will need to looking at the distances.

Hello guys, I thought I would share my latest Tamiya, built after a couple of years off This will not be a built thread like some of the fantastic ones on here as I am far too novice to try anything of that detail, but will hopefully show a little of the order things went together and perhaps convert a few more people into stadium blitzer lovers As a complete Monster beetle nut I have never really got on with the looks of the Blitzer beetle for some reason but after falling in love with the monster racer hi lux back in the day I had to have a stadium blitzer as I see it as the hi lux's natural successor. Anyway firstly the unboxing... sadly I must of been so exited I totally forgot to take a picture (I did say I was novice) so we better move on to the gearbox Then it was time to fit the motor, firstly it was going to be powered by a GT tuned motor But then I spotted this on ebay A couple of clicks later and it was mine... But firstly it was time to attach the rear wishbones, New motor fitted Time to fit the gearbox to the chassis and install the servo, After that you have to build up the front end and wishbones, Esc and RX installed Then its time to build up the oil filled dampers, sadly I did not take detail photos of this but I am sure most of you have built more CVA's than I have had hot dinners, this is where I had my first little nightmare... I could not get the lower mounts on the rear dampers to tap on far enough and there was too much exposed thread on the shaft. So I thought if I found the correct screw size with the same thread length it would be easier to pre tap the lower mounts... And it was, sadly the result is this A nice stress mark on both sides They do feel quite sturdy but I have already ordered two replacements in case these let go. Here is a picture of the complete tub and dampers With wheels So then it was time to paint, I was all ready to go box art white until I spotted a TC members showroom then the decision to go PS23 gunmetal was an easy one I think it gives a really great finish and looks much less toy like than the white, I also decided to use fewer stickers on the theory that less is more. I hope you like it, here is a picture with my other tamiya. My wife has just ordered a lunchbox black edition for my birthday so I am looking forward to building that next! Thanks for looking! Andy

No problem, the rear tyres are exactly the same outer diameter just with a much flatter profile while the front are quite a bit larger. I am hoping this might help when running as the standard fronts tend to find the pot holes so these may help smooth that out.
-
Well my hex adapters arrived today so I fitted my new wheels tonight, I kinda like it. It looses a little of the retro look but reminds me of the tam tec hornet.
-
Thanks Greg You have saved my Bacon there, I have just ordered a set
-
Can anyone help with this before I get the drill out
-
Ok so my new wheels arrived today and I have tired to fit them, however it seems the hornet shafts are to wide to go through the hole in the hex and super fighter wheel... Is that normal? I am guessing its a case of drilling out the holes? Does anyone know the correct size I need to drill too? Thanks Andy

I have picked up some super fighter white wheels and tires, hopefully these should be ok and give a few more tyre options. Will post a pic of them fitted, hopefully they will look good.
