Saturday 12th April ! Birkenshaw Meet Again ! On And Off Road !
knotty replied to WILD WILLY's topic in Meetings & Events
sorry willy matey its the mrs` birthday so i couldnt make it.give me a couple of weeks to get a few more runners organised and we`ll organise a weekend meet or at safeways one night now its getting a bit lightercheers phil -
is it just running and the wear and tear that sharpens the pinions?and is it worth replacing the spur with a metal spur gear as well or would that just make more problems metal on metal and the heat build up etc
-
its something that i`ve never thought about, the jumping killing gears.but plastic shredding metal?usually the other way round i`d have thought.so id check to see if there wasnt something else destroying the pinion and if its the pinion thats then destroyed the spur
-
nice looking bit of kit.it kinda makes my "just got back from a bit of a bash in me local park look at bit tame though
-
thats a nice buggy and a very nice looking landy do they do a freelander body by any chance?
-
I have been looking at a kamtech bodies recently and was wondering if anyone had any experience of them good or bad.the ones i have been looking at are abs so what are they like for painting and to standing up to abuse etc and how easy are they to fit? cheers phil
-
cheers ryck,by re buildable you mean the brushes can be changed? might be better.something else to consider anyway
-
cheers gents i`ll get one of those ordered then.at the most i`ll only be putting the sport tuned 540 in so it should handle it.according to the bumpf on the website

Been Given A Grasshopper 2 - Need Help (total Noob)
knotty replied to smevans's topic in General discussions
you get the better sizes the further up the membership ladder you are.if your a subscriber yu get the top grade ones.but to set the steering you take the the screw out of the top of the srevo and lift the plastic disc off.then connect your batteries and turn on your car and radio.the servo will center itself.leave the car turned on and put the disc that is connected to the steering back on so that the wheels are pointing straight ahead then screw it up.and that should sort your steering.but have a check and make sure none of the steering linkages or suspension mounts are broken, cos that would make it steer to one side as well. -
missed mine that much i got another.first theing i did when i got it built was put the batteries in and jumped it straight of the kitchen table, about a meter up straight onto a hardwood floor.the buggy is fine, but i must change the block on the floor before the mrs notices
-
thanks, its mainly the chassis and gears i was wondering about.i have found the middle section on ebaypart and modelsport have the spare gear sets. and i havent decided about a body yet.i had the pug 306 maxi before and that was nice but i like the look of the alfa.like i said before it wasnt a planeed project or owt just a bonus in another car i bought
-
is it exactly the same chassis or is the middle bit taken out?and is the rear part of the chassis the same?
-
following on from my post in the postie brought me,i have built up whats there from the ffo2 chassis and all that is missing is the spur gear and the shaft/tubing? that it rotates on,the middle chassis section (parts d3 and d4 according to the manual) and part a4 from the rear chassis (left hand rear quarter when you look from the front of the car.are these bits still available in shops /online or is it a case of ebay and hope?still considering its more or less there with the motor and radio gear for less than twenty quid its still a bargain
-
today the postie brought me a little box of goodies including three motors (two stock 540`s and a sport tuned 540) acoms radio 4 batterries and a fighter buggythat is hopped up and in decent nick.all in a nice little bundle from ebay a bargain for 16.even more so when i`ve opend it and it also seems to have the majority of a ff-02 in there as well.i`m going to download the manual from t.c and see whats there and whats not but it would be nice to have another chassis to mess with.
-
tried all ways to break mine before, jumps, smacking it into kerbs and it got turned over more times than enough both at the local park and in the back lane.all that happened was a seriously scuffed body only just realising now i should`ve kept it i paid 79 for mine at the time although i think they`re about 60 ish now.for the money they`re brilliant
