i havent got the lunchbox but i have got a pumpkin and its the most fun i`ve had r/c wise, dark impacts and brats and all the rest go like the privvy door when the plauges in town(yes i have been watching blackadder dvds)but the pumpkin/vlb in box standard form is one of the best bashing tamiyas around.imo of course

serious question guys, how many of you have been influenced by kyosho when you have designed/built fitted bits onto your tamiyas and vice versa?could this realistically happen withouth other brands being posted about on here?oh and markbt73 les pauls definately arent all there cracked up to be,save your saliva and stick with the fenders

cheers i hadnt even thought about rpm building up friction and heat

Hi guys.i`ve been reading the truck threads for a while now and really do fancy one of these.mainly cos me dad was a wagon driver and i spent half me saturdays in the cab of one of them.the 1838 powerliner if i remember rightly!!anyhoo, what i was wondering was what are they like to build and are they any good.the one i have seen says it can be run on a 2 channel but a four would be better for later options.so what are the add ons and what should i realistically be looking at for the kit,a four chanel radio full set and any other optins that go with them?(i take it the add ons are a light kit and its control unit)any help would be greatly appreciated cheers knotty

got my fighter buggy masked up ready to spray.i`d put the radio gear and wheels back on yesterday and has a razz round the front street.i`d forgotten for a basic buggy, how much fun these things are/were.so now its going to be snot green(tamiya flourenscent yellow) over black.piccys will follow....

Got home from work to find the lighting kit for me pumpkin,so fitted it and photo`d it (have a look here)and thats about it for tonight.tomorrow will the be the next one, servos and recievers should be here to restore my fighter buggy to its former glory.it was the only tamiya i had left so i thought i`d ressurect it cos it was looking lonely in the cupboard

i`ve just put the headligts in for now with the standard tamiya kit.i`ll leave the full rig out until i have some time off work and can plan it and fit it out properly

best value? do the cheaper buggies and trucks not count?things such as the mad bull, grasshopper and lunchbox/pumpkin?the fun that you can have with them and from my (limited) experience for around 80 they are virtually bulletproof for jumps and general bashing i think makes them very good value

brilliant site the headlights and tails i pretty much had an idea of how to fit them but thats just given me a load of help on how to do the roll bar spots
-
its the esc i have. the teu 101bk that comes with it so that should be ok. ive just had a look at the guy you recommended on ebay and i should be able to rig something up with what he`s got.i`m running 2000mah batteries though so any ideas as to what i should use if i install the lights?or will the battery still be ok,with enough kick for the car and plenty of runtime?
-
cheers colin, what do the tlu`s need to run?do they have a separate battery feed or do they run off the main battery? and do they just run themselves or would i need to change controller/receiver to three channel or anything

i`ve been sitting looking at my pumpkin and wondered if there was any way of fitting a lighting kit to it? as far as i can see where the headlight lenses fit in there are two holes directly behind them which would take some sort of led bulb but on the rear there is no where just a flate plate with a lense feature moulded in. is there any kind of brake light/rear red light kit that would fit?and finally the three spotlights on the roll bar are screwed together in the middle.is it worthwhile taking the screw out and glueing them together with a view to drilling a hole through them, and installing lights,or is this not possible? what sort of lighting kit would i need, batteries etc and wheres the best place to get them? cheers phil

take it your on about physical sizes rather than mah`s when you say the nimh are bigger?and does the condom idea work?i`ve heard mates mention it(mates you geddit? ..sorry)but never seen it done

this morning i took my pumpkin to the local park for its maiden outing.first run and noticed it was steering to the left again.had a quick check to make sure everything was connected and noticed the balljoint on the servo horn was loose.tightened it up ran two batteries flat then back in the car with it while my daughter fed the ducks.just checked it when i got home and the ball is loose again. car went brilliantly though and lots of fun was had so in one session i have learned two things.i can see why folks change the shocks to oil dampers and why threadlock was invented

new pair of crystals just gone in and its working fine now.just one more quick question,is it worth unplugging the battery connection from the esc into the receiver, and fitting the four cell battery holder from acoms?i was wondering if it would let the esc and motor be powered from the car battery while the receiver is independently powered, giving a longer run time per battery pack?or does it not work like that
-
yeah both are green band 5 27.195mhz 1 has r27.197 the other one only has the frequency on,no t or r so i`ll get some new ones and try them.cheers

the radio is new and the reciever is new,the only unknown is the crystals.i thought they were a pair but i am a bit baffled, should there be a tx and an rx in a pair?presumably tx for transmitter and rx for reciever.i know it seems like it but i am not taking the mick,i genuinly dont know.the radio and reciever were bought as seperate items and didnt come with crystals.so i used what i thought were a pair i had left of my last adventures in tamiya land.

wouldnt the steering servo still work?
