The bummer was it was a single colour Anyway its not as bad as i feared this morning, taken all the bits off and windows out and hopefully just sanding the top coat off will do seeing as it wasnt laquered. It`ll teach me to read build manuals first because if i had i would have noticed i could glued the body and the wheelarches together first then sprayed it as a job lot!!! Never mind though its all good in the end
-
Dont you just hate it when paint jobs go wrong!!!!! Never mind the plus side is on a cold weekend i have a full strip down to do and respray
-
cheers. I have just been looking in Halfords when i went for more primer and it seems they do a chrome enamel spray so i`ll give either that or the plasticote a try.I`ve done the steps and mirrors and such in tamiya X-11 silver but it looks flat dull and lifeless, so was looking at the "chrome" effect instead
-
Is there anyone (uk based) that does custom parts in chrome? OR is there a decent chrome/silver paint out there that really looks the part for the plastic pieces such as mirrors, handles wipers etc?
-
Is it the same mardave that had the maurauder nitro car out back in the eighties? and i have fancied getting one of their caterham kits

With the trailer at 45 degrees(the corner of the headboard at its nearest to the cab back) you have roughly 50mm to play with on the R470 so presumably roughly the same on the merc and globeliner. And the other thing is how would it fit in behind the fairings on the cab? That said if it was mounted at the nose of the trailer behind the headboard it wouldnt look out of place, especially if it was done as a logger trailer or builders merchants trailer Sorry if it seems like im pulling the project to bits but it just as the thoughts occur id thought id ask, seeing as id be interested in one if it came to fruition just had a look and there are trailers with them mounted at the back if its of interest to anyone look at 10th one down could be the way to go for us with smaller tractor units. other option might be to move the fifth wheel assembly backwards an inch

got the lights ordered from vic at rc modellighting, got the rear wheel arches and side skirts primered up ready for a rub down tomorrow and work permitting a couple of colour coats. Off to watch some disney character skating round sheffield arena tonight!!! could be fun

cheers. I dont know if sprayed it abit too lightly on the lexan because it was lexan if see what i mean but on the blackfoot i kind of went to town on it.That might be the secret to it,a dark backing and a very liberal spraying of the flip flop stuffIn fact i am just starting to spray my truck, I wonder.......
-
Never used them meself. But i did use this;chameleon jade. Funnily enough i used on a polycarb (lexan) shell with a dark backing and i didnt think it was that good,But i used it on my blackfoot sprayed over the top of a tin of halfords Ford purple velvet ( which i was told i should never use it for!!!)and the result is fantastic!!! One way it looks like a purple with green dust and the other way it looks like a very very shimmering green with a hint of puple. One of the best finishes i have got from a car. There were some pictures of it on here but they dont really do it justice.Try having a search for my posts/threads and see what you think found the thread with piccies

Excuse the ignorance but looking at the second design is there enough room to fit it and have the trailer still have full articulation round the fifth wheel??
-
suppose at the end of the day theres only a limited amount of trailer types. IE flatbed, taughtliner, tanker. but some variation would be nice, like a drag for the merc box wagon, and a new version of carsons low loader
-
Cheers twisty. it seems to be ok now. ive had a fiddle with the servo monuting bits and they seem a bit stiffer. the gearbox seems to move ok like
-
Like the trailer. is that just the carson curtainsider?
-
Hi all. Has anyone had a wobbly servo problem? got as far as building the chassis on my merc and when ive put the gearbox in and linked everything up the servo seems to be flexing on its mounts so much so that shift rod wont move enough to change gear> anybody got any ideas other than jamming something between the servo and end rail?
-
If i wanted to fit the servo`d fifth wheel that comes with them do you need to have the mfu on the truck, or is it just a case of plugging the servo into a spare channel on the reciever and away you go? cheers Phil

mine would have to be the MAN and reefer trailer with full options kit. However will have to settle for the mercedes1835 (just like me daddy used to drive... ) And thanks to the man at Modelsport should be here tomorrow!!! Must admit its a novel experience waiting for a delivery from Otley rather than just a steady drive over however seeing as my 1:1 landrover has had a disagreement with its cylinder head the posty will have to do. And as for the man it my birthday in january so providing WW3 doesn`t break out when my delivery comes i may be able to swing the man for then -
So far my clod,my pumpkin, my lunchbox, my landrovers. escaped having to sell my pajero and my scania though And thanks for the re welcome!!
-
Has anyone got one of these beasties built and running yet then? Are they as big and imposing as they look( that reminds me a renault magnum would be good because of its sheer size!!) and are they a bit more roomy than the scania to fit the electrics in?
-
Hi all, After a rather turbulent year involving screaming ,shouting, nights in the local travelodge(had my Alan Partridge moments....dont ask!!) and the whittleing down of my collection things seem to have settled down again. So i`m armed with her blessing to rebuild my collection(and some early christmas money as well ) Looking foreward to seeing whats new out there, and getting myself back into it!!! Whats everyone else been up to then? Phil

Hand on heart if i had to choose it would be the evo v.I know the delta is a classic from the pre wrc days BUT nothing screams rally more than an evo or an imprezza and the road version of the evo just doesnt cut it. Mind having said that e re-re of the essie cossie would be even better
