  1. I could use a new dressing gown ....

    anyway:

The Mad Rat isn't a difficult build, it's just way tedious ... the only variation comes from the different lengths of the huge number of countersunk screws you have to drive in - the only thing that kept me awake was incredulity at how Ansmann hadn't got sued by Associated :)

only had the dubious pleasure of the magnum kit. Wasnt fond of it tbh.

Put the rest of the stickers on today and wipers and stuff and now its complete(well as complete as its going to be) its not as bad as i thought.

I`ll try and get some better photos of it tonight

  4. Got my mercedes built and mostly finished but its not the best Tamiya i`ve had. For some reason it`s gone together nowhere near as smoothly as i expected, certainly not as neatly as the scania did fresh from the box.Dont get me wrong ive enjoyed doing it and the bits of doctoration ive had to do but just doesnt "feel" right if you know what i mean.

Nightmare paint job aside, the whole cab just doesnt want to sit right and the block at the back to clip the cab closed will not line up.The cab has to be pulled slightly to make sure it sits in. the wheel arches rub on the tyres slightly and the isides were catching on the plate above the motor so ive had to clip the corner off to make sure the cab tilts properly. And against the scania the ABS feels thin and flexible .Other than that though it runs a treat and will be ok with a trailer on it.

I`ll get some picture put up later and let you see it anyway

  5. Right.Ive managed to get away with some "carplan" thinners.Dab it on neat with a cotton bud or a sponge and wipe straight off. just leaves a thin smear of old paint colour to be sanded off.I wouldnt recommend leaving it on for more than a couple of seconds though

  6. Seeing as its -5 ish here with inches of snow are you two being funny? :)

There was a set of photos on here with how to do a paint job, i seem to remember you warm your cans(oo-er),warm the body give it several coats buit the last coat should be a "wet one", a very light coat done from very close range to get a real shine to it then lacquer. Only works if its a hard body obviously

  7. clodbuster, get one before they are gone.

clods aren't the kind of slow you are talking about, infact can go pretty well with some minor mods.

A couple of sport tuneds and it can be nippy

If you want something a bit more involved and grey hair causing you could try a 1/14th truck
