  1. Thinking of going Lipo at some point but dont know much . Am considering these products: Black Magic 2S 4000mah 35C hard case batteries, maybe a Core RC charger. Any of you guys use said products and whats your experience with them? Also whats the real facts amongst all this scaremongering about fires and explosions? Is there a fire extinguisher that will put out a Lipo battery fire? (I ask this beacuse after watching burning Lipos (still in car/buggy) on youtube they dont seem to be able to extinguish it once its started, no matter how much they spray it with fire extinguisher. Cheers James
  2. Oh almost forgot, 2 other things; 1 it has no bearings in at all, also the original spots are missing as I used them for another vintage resto-project a while back. Its almost impossible to remember every detail of every car I own More reason to maybe sell some off...
  3. To be honest it may look pretty good on the pics but it is not a minter or shelfer really, theres lots of imperfections like the wheels are a bit tatty, the paints good on them but the plastic rims have chips or little dinks. The body is intact but yet again it has lots of scratches and signs of wear and tear as mentioned in my original listing. It also comes with a new D part sprue with all the bits that are prone to breaking on the Hornet, those on the Hornet aren't fully broke yet but they do have a few stress cracks showing but otherwise are intact and good to run. Chrome spot bar is mint as its never seen action so that's good and theres no cracked lenses in them either. The chassis tub is scratched underneath from running so is the bumber and bottom of the gear case axle. The electrics are good though, virtually all brand new, inc 101esc, sport tuned motor(except where I accidently some how nicked the red cable and pierced the insulation, I just put a bit of insulation tape over it, though to be fair I could of just left and you'd never know it'd happened.) Everything is vintage too, even the servo saver is original as its gone yellow over the years. Anyways I don't know, its up to you. I wonder what parts you have already?
  4. I think we spoke about my Hornet before, think my price was a little high? Maybe I'll have a little re-think if your interested at all?
  5. I started with a standard can, then changed for a sport tuned but now I want Lunchy to go faster... VLB is all about fun, go 15 or even lower. I'm thinking of an 11 right now
  6. King Blackfoot is off the road until I get dogbone/s or drive shaft/s after a crash roll lost one. They're refered to as numbers 'MA22' or '50625' in the manual. Paypal awaits Cheers
  7. Original Grasshopper Just like my Hornet trade this is already to go, has onboard 101ESC and Sport Tuned Motor and Acoms receiver and servo. All waterproofed with zipties and bags. Comes with transmitter crystal too so put in a battery and the crystal in your old 27mhz transmitter and run. Only negative is that I never got around to putting bearings in it, purely because I never ran it. For some reason I cant upload pics on this trade too so please check links for more detailed pictures. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=96723&sid=23103 Questions and offers welcome
  8. UPDATE: £70 as is or £50 without esc, motor and reciever. Original Hornet runner All ready to go, has onboard 101ESC and Sport Tuned Motor and Acoms receiver and servo. All waterproofed with zipties and bags. Comes with transmitter crystal too so put in a battery and the crystal in your old 27mhz transmitter and run. Independent LED kit still works as just tested it, 4 spot bar at front and 4 red housed LEDs at the back too. Theres just a bit if of dirt/dust in the nooks and crannies as I ran one battery pack after I originally restored it. Hasn’t been ran since LEDs and new rear tyres fitted though, just collects dust. Body and chassis does have signs of wear and tare as previous owner did run it. Only negative is that I never got around to putting bearings in it, purely because I never ran it. Will come with a complete new D parts tree that has all the chassis parts that are prone to breaking; like the rear lower shock mounts D2 and D6, the rear upper shock mounts D4 and D5 plus the rigid axle mounts D11 and D12. I bought these new as I knew they’re the first parts to fail on any Hornet. Sorry, but for some reason I keep getting an 'Error: This upload failed' every time i try to add a pic to this trade, it worked earlier for my other trades. Please check links for more detailed picstures. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=96462&sid=23103 http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=107100 Questions and offers welcome
  9. Falcon in excellent condition, shelf-queen standard just needs a dusting off. Comes with box, manual and full period electrics (Acoms Techniplus MkIII; including throttle and steering servos, receiver, transmitter, MSC, battery holder, Rx and Tx crystals.) The only negative is that the plastic piece that hold the battery down is missing. Okay of you’re going to keep it as a shelfer but you can zip-tie and elastic band it if you plan to run. Currently unre-released and rare in this condition, even tyres are unglued and still have the mould excess. There are a few scratches under the chassis; I can only assume that previous owner ran it once to test it. Will need painting, I have the correct tamiya paints but found out its not a good idea to post paints apparently, so I’m stuck with those unless you want to pick up in person. All in all 9.5 out of 10 Questions and offers welcome
  10. I have an original Hornet in very good runner condition if interested? Its in my showroom here... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=96462 It now has a full indipendent LED light system fitted (including a cool spot-bar) that runs on a standard household 9V plug battery... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=107100 PM if interested P.S. I know you said Frog or Hornet but I have an original Grasshopper too that maybe worth a look. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=96723
  11. Am after a Tamiya Lancia Delta Integrali body shell. What you got? Paypal awaits
  12. Thanks guys. I seem to have resolved the issue... simply resetting the ESC (after about 7 attempts ) has made it ridiculously fast now... just how I want it My only issue now is some crystals/bands that are better as the ones in there get twitchy as the car gets further away from the transmitter. Cheers Jmz
  13. @ matman: Yes I am inclined to agree, Ive worked in manufacturing and you work within tolerancies, even machines creating cuircuit boards have quality tolerances. So it makes sense to assume any product will differ slightly in one way or another even though theyre stamped out by the million and supposed to be exactly the same.
  14. @ Butler: Even the Sport Tuned is the same turn as the standard can... 27t, just a shorter distance wind, and it ran as bad as the hpi 20t? I get what your saying though; its like real 1/1 cars, its not just bhp but torque aswell. Cheers. @waterbok: None of the motors got hot, barely warm to be honest. I think I'll re-set the mtroniks esc first, if stil no luck then i'll swap the mtroniks esc for a tamiya 101, if that fails then i'll change the reciever, failing that i'll change the motor. Failing that... I'll cry
  15. Today I thought I'd test run my 2 falcons in the garden. Lets refer to them as F1(standard 27turn silver can motor, Tamiya receiver, Tamiya 101 esc) and F2(20turn hpi motor, acoms receiver, 20turn limit Mtroniks esc). To my surprise the F1 was a lot faster, I mean you could clearly see the difference and it was a handful in my small garden. However, technically the F2 should have been a lot faster?????? Both cars are the exactly the same bar the paint jobs. Both have recently been fully stripped, cleaned and greased through out. I inspected both cars to check the tyres were glued properly, pinion (same 18t pinion in both)and spur gear were snug, gear boxes tight, and yes they were fine. Swapped batteries around, F1 was still the fastest. So put Tamiya Sports Tuned in the slower F2 and guess what, the F1 was still faster and not by a small measure. I am completely perplexed as why the F1 goes like stink and F2 which is technically the superior one just doesn't cut it. Anybody had a similar experience? or better yet got the answer as to why? Is the Mtroniks esc pants compared to a Tamiya 101 esc? I know the HPI motor is cheap but the F2 is still slower even with a Tamiya Sport Tuned in it. Just to add to the record, I did suffer a little radio interferience with the F2 car. Cheers Jmz
  16. A virtually complete and near mint Falcon with vintage electrics, spray paint, manual, box. Will make a near perfect shelf queen just needs a little clean as is very dustty and the body painting (new paints included). Comes with: 2 brand new sealed Tamiya spray cans of PS (PS-5/black and PS-2/red) and the box with manual too. Has full vintage electrics fitted; 2 servos, receiver with 27 MHz crystal fitted (transmitter crystal included so you can plug and play), MSC with poly cover and onboard battery holder. Manual is near mint and the box a little creased in places but otherwise structurally sound and no rips. Car is in really good condition apart from a few chassis scrapes from where previous owner possible did run it maybe once. Other than that its in really good condition, tyres are like new, no wear at all and they don’t seem to have even perished, something very rare on an original vintage nearing 30 years old. The only bad points are: The 2 nuts and bolts that fasten the front of the bumper are missing, the motor is not original it’s a brand new one, the battery fastener is missing, though if its for a shelfer you’ll never need it but you can use zip ties and elastic bands like I did with my runner falcon. £100 + paypal fees (usually @ 3.5%) and shipping (approx £15 with insurance and tracking 24/48hour). Link to my showroom trade for pics. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/trades_model.asp?cid=116144 Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask, cheers all.
  17. Original Front and rear tyres for Wild One / The Fox, with re-re gold plated wheels fronts and backs. Please see link to tamiyaclub for pics. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/trades_model.asp?cid=116088 Cheers James
  18. Need Falcon parts: R2, R3, D1, D4 also a bumper, or an aftermarket bumper. Cheers
  19. Want Falcon rolling chassis, abused and battered prefered. Don't want a minter, nor any electrics apart from maybe a steering servo. Don't need body either. Paypal awaits
  20. Thanks guys. I think I need to buy item 53443 then as I have no oils at all. Will try new oils with the existing 2 hole set up first, then change if I feel it still aint good enough with the new #200 or #300 silicone oil. @kontemax: Thanks for the info, it makes perfect sense. Cheers all
  21. Serviced both front and rear shocks on what is to be my Falcon runner today. However I hit a bit of a snag. I cleaned them up and dried them, now for the oil. I had just enough Tamiya oil for 2 shocks and some cheap Bycmo silicone oil for the other 2. I put the Bycmo in the front shocks and the Tamiya in the rears. Now the fronts are perfect, nice and plush and soft. But the rears are like hard and stiff, basically the back end will be like its on ice. There wasn't any info on the Tamiya oil bottle, I just know its a few years old as I got it with an ebay win 2 years ago, the bottle is a blue colour. Im guessing the viscosity is no good. So what oil should I be putting in the rears? and should I use silicone rather than traditional oil? Do I buy Tamiya oil 53443? Cheers Jamz
  22. Looking for Falcon decals; the bits that go on either side of the car. Theyre numbered on the sheet as 1, 2, 27 and 28. Must be in very good condition. Will possibly buy whole sheet to get them . Cheers
