  1. Can someone explain the difference between the SRB decal sheets.   I noticed that there is 4 different sheets for the SRB's. I just got the rough rider today and the kid (Saying this on the fact that it was painted red with a brush) messed up some of the decals.  I try to save some of the ones that are on bare plastic, but the rest (especially the numbers) are on the red paint.

     Here are my questions:

SRB sheets (Where did they come in, the kits or are they something that tamiya came out as a hop up?)

What sheets came with the rough rider or sand scorcher?

I am just trying to figure out what is happening with this rough rider to make it look really.

  2. I got in touch with Bimmerman over some items I had for sale on Ebay.  Great Guy!!! Anyways he showed me some pictures of his Sand Scorcher he had posted on here a while back.  It was enough that I grabbed some old Blitzer shells and went nuts to make one.  I changed this one up a bit, but it's close to finished now.  Repo nose from Martin, Super Champ Chassis that I won from a guy in the states.  And some other ods and ends.  This is my vintage runner.  I have painted some grasshopper tires and rims to match the ones that Bimmer had, but I am missing the rears tires for now. So these are from my Sand Rover.

    Enjoy!!!

Just finished this bad boy this morning! Pretty much stock, nice looking and running buggy!  Will be using it next season at Sid's Raceway in Milton Ontario Canada.  Can't wait! Might pick up some stuff from the bay to hop it up!  What do you think!

The paint is old tamiya cooper. Didn't spray very well, paint was at least 20 years old. :(   The base is the hood of my truck!!! hahahah!

  4. Ok, so picture this.... Got 2 High-lift kits, went to see TA04 yesterday and we had a 2 man build off to see who could get done and how long... I still have not gone to bed yet.  I think I have been up for 27 hrs now. So total time so far to build the chassis was 9 hrs.

Anyways, kit #1 (TA04's) went together fine... my kit's gear set was all wrong... It had 2 of the same gears and was missing the 27 tooth one that attaches to the hex on the upper part of the tranny.   This was the first case that I have seen this happen? Anyone else have something funny happen to their kit? I think someone was sleeping on the job!

  5. Thanks for the great advice everyone! [:)]

Ok, So if I use a plastic primer, is that going to melt the plastic also?   I find that the plastic used in the blitzer is softer than the plastic in a highlift.  I think that I am going to paint one coat of tamiya primer and give it a 1200 wet sand on the hood and the primary shine area's. After than a light to medium coat of base colour and a heavy coat of clear (Maybe 3 coats).  My opinon on tamiya clear is that is not 100% shinney as we would expect with a clear coat. A nice polish after the fact should brighten it up. For the Highlift I might do a light gun metal with a silver lower part.

  6. Please help me!!!!!!

     Experience is the key here!!!

Blitzer Beetle shell: Paint appears to melt the plastic when it dries.  I am using Duplicolour that you get at Walmart or Canadian tire (Autoparts stores).   I tried everything! Primers, tamiya primer w/ wet sanding etc... this is driving me crazy!!!!  They all melt enough that the sold lines show..

I am scared to paint the f350 now with all the problems that I am running into.   I want a custom look on my projects but am getting really angry at the results.  I find tamiya w/clear dulls out evern with heavy coats. ?????

  7. I am questioning if it is actually a SS with a RR body?  I can't tell by the pictures, if the radio box is dark (and not dirty) that is a good indication.  I know that the tires are wrong and the pipes, but he / she had more of them around. I will attempt to get the other chassis she has, but there is still a bit of time on it. Plus do I really need more? I have a nice suprise for you guys on Sunday. I will use this posing to show you guys! Secret Scorcher / Super champ... Let's say I was getting bored...

  8. Yes, I guess that is true!

Just like the time I offered a guy in the states $280 for a lot of cars (Wrangler, SS and some other thing that looked beat).  He said "God Bless America" at every email I sent him and I never got an answer on my offers. So long story short.  The auction ended at $45 dollars for 4 cars and a bunch of parts.  Yes god bless the amercian that needs no money?  No offence to anyone.. I just found this very rude.. Regardless of the fact the person was from the states or another country.  I lived there for a long time and have a bunch of great friends from all over the place...This was a real first!

  9. Not sure if this was done, but lets list off all the items that commonly break on Vintage and New Cars..

Here are some that I remember:

    Grasshopper: Front Bumper

Hornet: Front Bumper and the Body Posts

Frog: Rear Gears and tranmission plates

SuperChamp: Rear Bumper Breaking the corners

    Well let's hear the rest!!!

  10. Ok, not sure if this was covered before?

But, I finally had a weekend that I could sit down and build a Superchamp runner. I will be honest, I have put many SRB's together and maybe on a few occassions actually ran the thing (Not very often!). I just enjoy painting them and putting them together.

So I put this (Will be a copy of Bimmermans SS) together and got a modern ESC, and wired the thing together and made a holder for a normal batt pack. Lined up the front suspension and tie rods.   Put some older tires on and took it outside.

It cranked the throttle and took a nice blast down the ashfault driveway and guess what... It turns but keeps going straight. The motor must be still rather good, because I can do wheeles down the drive way?  Anyways, it will not turn on full throttle.  Is this a case where they are all like this?  Or have I messed up the front suspension some how.  It looks like the parts are straight in the front. The only thing that I can find strange is that the one wheel is not turning all the way.  Should there be more toe in or out?

Hope someone can help me make it turn!

  11. Hi all Canadian Members and Non-Members.

The Kitchner Waterloo VW Club is holding their annual VW show in 2 weeks.  I met one of the organisers at June Jitter Bug in Niagra Falls this weekend and they are having an RC race on the day of the show.  They asked if I could give them some help.  I told them that they should have a vintage RC bash.

If anyone is interested, here is the link with some details.

I know that he was thinking of having an oval track, but I was like, no way! I am going to suggest the following classes:

Stock (any kit), Vintage RC (Buggies etc), Nitro, Rally (TCS rules).

    Any suggestions, please post!

Hope to see and meet some members there!  I will be sending some emails once I confirm some details.

  12. OK I will try to conform to the rules about live auctions. I found a scorcher starting at $150, I contacted the person and I simply asked what the reserve was, expecting around $200. They told me $500. Not to be mad, but the car was not complete and was missing many items. It looked to be in a very poor state and would have required about $200 just to make it worth putting on the floor. My green one sold for $500 and I think that was more than I expected, but I did spend allot of time and patience on that one. She was my first [:I] This one looks to have been found in a pile. [xx(] Maybe it is just me... for people to even expect $100 from a car like that would be grand. [;)]
