  1. I just checked with my brother's glider remote and I'm afraid you're right about the ratchet movement on up and down. This is too uncomfortable to use as a throtle on rc car (and I don't want to modify the remote as it might still be used occasionally for glider duties) so I guess surface radios are the only way to go. The 3pj/3pk are not really an option as I want to be able to use the mfu in the future (and I dont have any 3 channel radio at the moment anyway). The problem is that it seems like only Futaba makes this kind of remote, but I know KO used to make one as well (I think it was the stick remote Massami was using?). Does anybody knows of other stick type 4 channel options?
  2. seeing as this forum is 'educational' thread, I was wondering if someone could direct me on how to place links. The create link option doesn't seem to work for me (I'm using firefox browser, could that be the problem?!). After clicking on the create link botton, a window appears into which I copy the link and press ok, but no link is being created! Obviously I'm doing something wrong as people post links here all the time, but what is the right way?? Futaba 4 channel Edit: OK it now works for me. Thanks, Acto-Tuned.
  3. As the release date of the F350 is nearing I'm starting to think about a 4 channel radio for it. I've never given any thoughts to these radios as the 3 speeds were always too costly for me, and I was never into the semi trucks anyways, but now as I started looking for options I only managed to find this Futaba remote unit: Futaba 4 Channel Is that the only 4 channel surface remote available? I was thinking of using my brother's 4 channel glider radio but am concerned of using an Air remote for suface duties (mainly because of possible interference to other glider users)
  4. I don't think there were any tooling expanses with those bodies (obvious by looking at the low retail price) as they probably used their old 80's molds and it was just a matter of opening a production run for the bodies. Parma really needs to release the Subaru Brat replica lexan body they used to make is the 80's, it was a very good replica of the abs version and if the price is similar to the pumpkin/lunchbox lexan bodies it could be a hit among the rerelease Frog owners.
  5. Sorry do disappoint you guys, I have no affiliation with the mossad (But if I did do you think I would come forward?... ). The thing is I went on a trip abroad a couple of hours after my last post and been travelling since without being able to access the internet until now (again, my trip has nothing to do do with the mossad, honest...), so thats why I won't be around for a while... Snake PS Stefan, you can expect a visit tonight from some very mean looking guys...
  6. As you can see I had to remove the pic. I know most of you already have it saved on your hard drives and I would like to ask you not to post it again until the official annoncement. I know it seem suspicious but I can assure you all that this is the real thing and no hoax is in play here. I think we should all relax a bit with the comments, and wait patiently to June.
  7. I guess me waving my spotless record won't do any good here after last year's Netsmith-Scorcher incident... BUT: To my best knowledge I can assure you this is the real thing!
  8. Finally managed to get a pic of the new bruiser which will probably be introduced in the Shizauka show. This pic was given to me by a trustworthy source, and I can assure you that its not a mock up or a hoax. It is supposed to be released in June. Sorry, but I've been asked to remove the pic. I apologize to my source for posting it publicly without permission.
  9. I am not sure whether it concerns the Paris show but I've been told by a good source yesterday that he just found out from Tamiya that by june they will release a modern bruiser (I kid you not!) with leaf springs, plastic chassis & axles, a full time 4wd and 3 speed transsmission (probably similar to the trucks) with F350 shell. This is a very good source and I wouldn't be writing this unless I was sure about this. I guess we should just wait and see...
  10. Can anyone confirm the pitch is 0.5 module? I can sure use some pinion size selection in my super astute gearbox.
  11. Funny that you say that as I did just the thing two days ago -I located an old friend I used to race with about 10 years ago (using some impressive semi-detective methods if I may say so...) and 'freed' his used Avante he kept all these years. I think the outcome pays for the slight embarrassment I felt when first talking with him.
  12. its funny no one mentioned Mad Max 2 yet, it has one of the greatest chase scenes ever seen, plus it gives inspiration for us old tamiya lovers with the buggies and weird vehicles running around and crushing each other... Aliens (sequel to Alien) is certainly one of the greatest action movies made, James Cameron is the king of this genre (too bad he stopped making movies). Finally, as my name suggests, I just love John Carpenter's Escape From NY, a great movie with an original script and interesting characters, when I first saw it I was hooked!
  13. Shermanator, Below is a list of bearing size and number for the Ninja: 10mm OD, 6mm ID, 3mm Width (8 Total) 8mm OD, 4mm ID, 3mm Width (14 Total) Please note that when using bearings in some parts of the gearbox you need to use special plastic spacers (I think they are located on the servo saver tree) instead of the metal spacers (the manual mentions it on step one, left side). Below is a pic of Marui genuine bearing set
  14. I believe tamiya supplies suggested pinion-spur combination for some kits, including the TT01, on the back of the RZ box. Using this combination should be a good start, and you can work your way from there depending on your track.
  15. My sources say that a new m03 chassis based kit will be released with the new (and in my opinion- beautiful) suzuki swift body (chassis will have a new extender which will make it "m03m")
  16. This CPR was installed in a Pajero (58044) that I won recently on ebay. Until I saw this unit I was sure that CPR models started from P-100. Is it the first CPR model to be produced? this thing is huge! "Tamiya 1991" is molded on the back of the case -I thought they released the CPR earlier.. Does anyone know what motors it can handle? (my guess would be up to sport tuned). I connected it to a 540 motor and it appears to work fine, although I only get proportional throtle in low revs, and in about third throtle (in the remote) it goes to full speed. I guess thats because it was designed to be used with the adspec remote and there is no way to adjust it to other remotes?
  17. Hi Guy, Check out the link below, according to my brother this hobby shop/market is well worth the visit. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...729&id=1147
  18. nice pics! they gave me inspiration to scratch build a sand buggy.. Thanks for posting it!
  19. Thats me, a few months ago during army reserve service. Please disregard the hairdo, it was a windy day...
  20. Hi Backlash, I never run the rc10 before, I'm currently restoring it and wanted to replace the original 32 pitch with a 48 pitch spur for smoother running and better pinion choices. That is why I wanted a recommendation for pinion/spur set up to start with (sorry for not mentioning that before). Anyways, thanks for your suggestions, I'll start with this set up and fine tune it from there. Happy new year (and happy hanukkah) everybody..
  21. I believe the diff gear is the same but the spur gear is different and fits the FAV/Wild One only.
  22. thanks Terry, that was very helpful. I'm still looking for recommendations on gear ratio for stock motor for the six gear tranny
  23. Hi, sorry to resurrect this old topic but I have a question in the same subject and saw no point in openning a new one. I recently won an ebay auction that contained a lowered midnight pumpkin chassis and a pajero (58044) body (haven't received it yet) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 I'm interested in this poorman's pajero concept so I was wondering whether the original pajero and the midnight pumpkin chassis have the same wheelbase (without the midnight pumpkin's extended gear box mount). The two chassis look so similar that I suspect tamiya took the pajero chassis mold and modified it to create the midnight pumpkin chassis. Obviously the front body mount does not exist but so doesn't the front bumper of the body, so I'll have to drill holes in the body anyway. My main concern is that the wheelbase would fit, otherwise the whole project would look funny. I intend to drill the chassis to mount the battery pack lower like Wild-o-boa did http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...id=8795&id=1163 So I'll have a nice stable runner with the beautiful pajero body
  24. 23 turn motor seems fine for the wild one. The main problem with the wild one is its diff and not the hex drive shafts (which should last long if properly maintained, and can now be replaced with the re-release frog dogbone setup). If the diff is properly shimed you should have no problems.
