You got to share a picture of that one too. The "wide" mod is certainly one of the strangest things I've ever seen in RC.

What's the heart for on the main page?

Thank you guys for the replies. Now does this mean that you can not 'favorite' a full set of pictures anymore? -
Got a 1986 Blackfoot Ford Ranger body fixed. See the front attaching point broken? The hood part down is the donor. So it went from this: To this: Build thread here: https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/91225-rc-project-for-2019-non-boxart-orig-blackfoot/#comment-789204 You all have a good week!

RC project for 2019: Non-boxart Orig. Blackfoot
mongoose1983 replied to mongoose1983's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
SUCCESS! Here's some more pictures of how it looks now after getting the parts properly fixed. I used cyanoacrilate with a tiny bit of baking soda. Worked like a charm! A lil sanding, primerm and some putty will make it look perfect. With the grill on. I just haven't got the screw in place as I am waiting for the glue to cure completely. And a final look at the body and donor part. Now they look like this: Unfortunately today rained here. I'll be working on the body and later I'll get it painted, when the weather gets better. I need to work on the hood now, as I'll need to come up with something interesting. Some custom thing will be done with this as this is my 2nd Blackfoot truck Hope y'all have a fantastic week! -
RC project for 2019: Non-boxart Orig. Blackfoot

Well, it took me some time to resume this project. You could say I was sort of building up with nerve so I could face the challenge of the tiny front bit that needed to be replaced. Takes brass balls to go through with this. But fortunately it worked. All I needed was some inspiration! Here's both, the body and the donor. Both 'em were given to me by my good friend @beefmuffin. Apparently he thought I'd be up for the task. I'm super happy I was up to the challenge, buddy! That broken bit is always a problem with used/abused Blackfoots. And I remember seeing this done by some TCers in the past. Now that doesn't make it easier at all Cutting done: Now the donor's bit. Here's How I got it done. I had to screw it to the bench then filed until gettin 'er done alright The orange file you see here is part of the Tamiya box tools. It was given to me by my good friend @Crash Cramer Works great! Now testing how the bit works with the rest of the body. Step one properly done! Now how to fix the bits wasn't a bit less nervewracking... -
I was wondering if anybody used the RC Channel chassis for the XR-311 here in TamiyaClub? I have here a vintage Cheetah that has a super nice body but the chassis was heavily modified. Anyway, here's a link: http://www.rcchannel.com.tw/index.php?cPath=58 You all have a Happy Easter!

You can easily remove the smoke from the chrome bits (rollbar, lights, and wheels) with nail polish remover. That'll make the truck look much better!
-
I love your work!!! I'd wish more TCers were making things that way.

Gorgeous wheels you got there!

Repro Marui Big Bear rollbar lights?
mongoose1983 replied to mongoose1983's topic in General discussions
Thanks mate. 3D parts for the chassis might work, but those plastics are complicated to work on and paint. I presume they take knocks better than the originals and repros, but 3D doesn't look good for a part that is so noticeable. I am in hopes someone here in TC will remember who made those repros. Or I might try to do something myself. Thanks again for the reply and have a fantastic Friday! -
I'm nowadays working on a Marui Big Bear, and I'm in need of both rollbar's lights. Seemingly they're pretty hard to find! I was wondering if anybody in here remembers somebody who was into casting reproductions of these, years ago? You all have a good Friday!

Thank you! I've used caustic soda many times, but never on chrome bits. Now I'm curious on the alclad chrome
-
How did you get the chrome off of it? A couple of years ago I got my Kyosho Corvette's blower stripped and painted it afterwards. I wasn't and will never be happy with it, but the AH who owned it before thought it was cool to get it painted in red. And then while removing the red I happened to get the chrome off, too. I'd be interested in seeing how does the alclad thing looks over that Clod blower.
-
That's such a great idea!! I think you can find the decal sheet in Canada. Here's one but it's a lexan body. The hardbody ABS while harder to work on will look much better.

Oooooh, that minute that you feel like dying. Been there mate.

Finished up the fixing process of the 1984 Tokyo-Marui Datsun BIG BEAR body and it is now all in primer and ready to be painted.
-
Inspiration took LONG to catch up with me but anyway here it is, the Datsun BIG BEAR body all fixed and in primer waiting for me to go grab the airbrush! Here's the body with the Tamiya putty applied in the not-so-nice areas before sanding. The putty helped to cover all of the scrapes properly -everything you see in the left picture you just don't see it anymore once the primer was sprayed over the body. A quick look at the rear end never hurts. I'm excited I'm concerned warm days are about to go now so I better grab the airbrush soon and finish this one. Still not sure about color... No way to buy anything these days I've to check what I have around. Hopefully it is going to look good. You all stay safe and have a good Tuesday!

I remember the Ranger radio by Hitec. I think it looks pretty good!

Anybody painted a Hornet with PS-22 or PS-9?
mongoose1983 replied to Peter_B's topic in General discussions
Not sure about PS22, but here's a lot of different optional colors to check: https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/69118-best-optional-color-for-a-hornet/&page=3 -
Vintage Clod Buster
mongoose1983 replied to RobyD's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
For heaven's sake please don't destroy or modify the original CHEVROLET Clod Buster! I am with @berman on this one, just replace what is broken. If you want to destroy one of these, you can always get the Super Clod Buster.
