Oh, wow. Prices for the old ones are bound to drop :-( So what do we do, now? Go out and sell all of the classic metal-chassis cars and pick-up trucks that we have?? -
Weirdest Thing You've Found On A Car Or Truck
mongoose1983 replied to Henk4Focus's topic in General discussions
Well, I have seen one or two Tamiya Bruiser trucks with rollbars installed behind the white fiber cab. And worst than that, people cutting it off the body, to make them look like Mountaineers. That is hard to understand, cause, if I had a Mountaineer myself, I know I'd be trying to find the Bruiser rear cab. But well... there are other modifications done to Tamiya cars that are really awful. Take the Clod Buster model. All sort of chassis modifications, tubing, etc, etc. Myself, I am not into modifying the original models, but I must admit that trucks like the Toyota High-Lift deserve nothing but being "corrected" by the people out there. My two cents. Happy Thursday to Ya'll! EB -- -
No problem! I got a replacement today while downtown (best of all, it is NOT made in Germany). I got it installed and now it's working like new again. I'm a happy camper. :-)

Hi fellas! This one's for Bruiser owners out there. A picture of a 1:1 Toyota Bruiser, with tires that look a lot like Imex G-hawgs. Y'all have a great Thursday!! EB --

Thanks for your note, Terry. You're a good guy, and I'll always thank you for helping me get my Saint Dragon running again! I would say the quality has shown to be there if you have got 15 years of use out of it without problem. Well, I used it only for about five or four years. The rest of the time it was stored in the basement. When I got it back in 1993, it was the best charger someone could buy here in my country. Still, I will doubt the quality of German products from now on. Man, the wristwatch I have here with me it's a Swiss Longines from the mid 40's. It was used by my Grandfather, my father, and now me. And it has never been serviced! Now that's what I can call quality. My father always told me about German products, and the dang timer does not work anymore. Now that's beautiful! Wanting to keep the charger for nostalgia reasons is one thing, but they were out of date when you bought in 1993 and can be very dangerous charging modern battery packs. I wouldn't ever use a timer charger these days, they are the worst possible way to charge leading to under performing cells as it won't fully charge them, or even causing the batteries to literally explode if they are overcharged. Replace it with a proper modern peak detect charger and you will notice better performance from your current cells, your batteries will thank you for it. That is easy to say for someone in the Europe or the States, but I'm a humble person in a very poor, third-world country. Everything costs way more for us down here. And that is because of both, the prices themselves and our very low income levels. Will have to go downtown with the timer next week to see if I find a replacement. Hope you have a great Sunday!!! Hi there, I'm nowadays having problems with my 1993 Astro Flight battery charger. The problem is the timer. It gets stuck, and doesn't go back :-( I opened it last Sunday, so I could lubricate the timer, but I found out it's a sealed timer. I wonder if anybody has had the same complication? My father always told me German things were always the best in quality, well, the dang Made-in-Germany timer that I have on my Astro Flight charger does not show any of that quality :-( I wonder if I can get a replacement for the timer as I don't want to get rid of the charger! Thanks in advance for any info. EB --

As title says, last Saturday I spent two hours trying to get these two working together. I absolutely HATE electronic speed controllers. Anyway, I need to match these two, but the programming just does not get through on the Tamiya bit. Any tips before I toss the dang ESC?? Please help me with some info about what can I do to make my car work! Best regards, EB --

Any residues of decals glue will come off with some WD-40. I never used it over a painted surface, but still, after removing the decal residues, maybe you will want to strip the paint and paint the Brat body whatever color you decide. Have a great Sunday! EB --

Congrats, mate! I truly believe the Egress is Tamiya's best modern buggy! A terrific performer! Y'all have a great Sunday! EB --

I agree with you, James! I truly believe Tamiya Club should have a section where such changes were mentioned (along informative pictures). I'm sure this is of interest to hardcore Tamiya collectors. Y'all have a great weekend!!

I also have heard about Tamiya manuals and boxes in Japanese, but never seen any.

Hey Y'all, I was browsing through my Frog manual the other day and could not help to notice adverts on page 12 for cars like The Falcon, Big Wig, Black Foot, Porsche 959, and Monster beetle. The manual is dated 1983, but these cars were produced by Tamiya as late as 1987. How can this be possible? Same with my 1987 Midnight Pumpkin manual. I bought this kit new in 1992 (and sold it just last week). Anyway, the Pumpkin manual had adverts for cars like the Saint Dragon, and the inner cardboard divider had pictures of various QD models. None of this was available in 1987, so it was obviously a reissue. The question is, how can you recognize the date release of popular trucks like The Midnight Pumpkin or the Black Foot, or even the old Frog? Also, I just got a boxed Black Foot, and while browsing through eBay this evening I come up with this other box, that had more writing and a profile of the truck in the front of the box. Which one's the oldest? I have also seen differences in the Subaru Brat boxes, ones with a RIKO logo and other without that. And what about the Monster beetle? There are white, red, and black bodies. Which one is the oldest? Anybody in the know? Y'all have a great weekend!!!
