1) A source for replacement parts. Oh, and replacement decals. Most the times you just get deceived by the names of the cars, though. 2) We are kids from the 70's and we love models cars, you know. Almost every one I know from my generation like toy cars. And when time came for the "buggy fever" back in the mid 80's the hottest and most expensive, and most of all the most beautiful cars (and boxes) were made by Tamiya. Prices were (and still are) so unreasonably steep, I believe that kind of pushed some sort of idea or notion inside most kids, as if they were made in heaven or something. And most Tamiya cars were things to fantasize about, they were pretty much like I don't know, Susan Lynn Kiger in some old Playboy magazine or something. An impossible dream. I believe most nowadays RC guys started dreaming about them back then and with lots of luck (and or work) got to use these cars. I know I had to save money for two LONG years before I could finally buy the first one. I truly believe Tamiya was successful in making us think of their products as if they were heaven-made. See, all the cars you mention, they're lousy runners. But I know I still love them with passion. And probably will always do. There's some type of fantasy about these cars. Plastic models that worth a fortune, and for some reason make you happy. It's totally crazy.

Oh, and that incredible Grasshopper on the back... just WOW. haha.

For some reason I'm becoming a fan of the red/orange combination. Nice buggy there.

Well, in my country it was a success. Must have been sometime in the 2nd half of the 90's decade. I remember liking it a lot. It was even copied by a local comedian, too, in a segment of another show. Right now, when I have had the time to watch it, I don't seem to get it as much as back in the day. And that's the reason why I haven't got the DVD set. If you ask me about English humor, I'd have to point my favorite, Benny Hill. And that not only for the obvious hooks, the man was a genius, and his sense of humor was incredible. I've spent my first five years of schooling in a local private English school, and as kids we were pushed to learn the language, we were like five years old, and they educated us with English books, and made us watch super 8mm movies all in English, so we could feel the need to understand whatever they talked about. Those ladybird books and the illustrations in them are tattoed somewhere inside of me for good. And so we grew up familiar with the basics of the British culture. I have vivid memories of us kids singing our national anthem, and then God Save the Queen. Now that I think of it, it's seems so strange strange. But anyway, that experience kind of spark some interest in your culture. Later somehow I developed interest in American culture, and I lectured on the subject for some years in a local university. I feel now a bit disconnected from whatever British. But again on the humor, yes, the show was great. But Benny Hill will always be my favorite English comedian.

Is that a custom 'printer' driver?

Well, if you don't like the Hornet type, then the only options you have are vintage op parts. Look on eBay for CRP and the like. For hefty money, of course. If you change adapters for 12mm hexes then you'll have plenty of possibilities for both, wheels and tires.

TLT-1, actually. That's a kit Tamiya released, I don't know, like twenty years ago? If you want to go that route, well, that's a lot of work to do. When I try to copy something on the back of my mind there's always the though of such thing not really being the one I wanted first. But of course that's just me. Anyway, you can always get the CC-01 and make something out of it, like @toykid did a few years ago. Perhaps you remember the wonderful custom FALL GUY truck a friend of TCer @Germanfanatik made years ago? Bruiser chassis, TLT-1 axles, Clod Buster bodyshell... the thing was gorgeous! ...Must really be one of the NICEST custom combo RC Tamiya I've ever seen here in TC.

And a catalog with more vintage Futaba to die-for FUTABA... for beginners to record-holders. Can you dig it!

Since the thread was resurrected (a good thing, that is) I am showing you guys here a couple of images of some of my favorite Futaba radios. (Not mine, sadly) What's a original Bruiser without one of these? Oh these alu ones I love 'em with all my heart! Plastic ones are also way too good! Anybody remembers the Parma grip to fit the wonderful 2F wheel model? Here's the instructions leaf. I also like old school ESCs. What about this one? OOoooh I love it!

Thanks for letting us see the pictures! What do you mean the tires perished? And how did they got ruined? I was curious on the TLT-1 tires in the previous picture.

And what's the story behind the Hummer. How did you get it first?

It's for a single wheel cover trade, Kev. For five LONG years I have had three rears and only one front chrome wheel cover for my boxart Sand Scorcher. It's crazy, I don't even remember what's the reason for this. And it happened that a bloke in California it's in the exact opposite situation and sent a message telling me he's willing to do the trade. I had the thing packed, and while in the postoffice I got to know about this. Prior to that he said the USPS would not ship here. At least I thought they'd be able to receive my package but it wasn't the case, and now I doubt the trading will be possible. Sending it to another country would rocket the costs, and the timing involved in the process. This is completely negative for my intentions because when you're anywhere in a rich country you just click a couple of times your cellphone and you can have stuff like even a forty year-old piece of junk right on its way to you for almost nothing. Would you wait for a part from someone on the other side of the world to be shipped whenever the authorities want. I don't think so. And so I'm gutted. And I see how long it is going to take me, perhaps a decade before getting to complete the chrome wheels for the d*mn car. I feel it is totally unacceptable these Tamiya a.h.s would paint the car sporting chrome wheels on the box cover while including white ones in the kit. I mean the kit comes with chrome parts alright, doesn't it. You see door handles, VW emblem, indicators, and even a nice set of mirrors. I'm sure it wouldn't have been complex for them to include the correct wheels as well. Now I understand there's much bigger problems than this in the world today, but this thing sucks.

I remember that sound on my Pumpkin a couple of decades ago. One of the gears lost one tooth.

That picture is 100% cool! And it reminds me to paint my Subaru tires sometime before this week ends...

If you chose to go through with that, then you're modifying a classic model, not just any chassis that's laying around or that you can just go out and find at any LHS. I would not have the hart to mod it myself, but that's just me. Yes, most TA-01 parts will work on this one. The XV-01 is one great Rally chassis.

Oh, had I have something to give in exchange for that one I know I'd have one BIG smile on this here face
