  1. I'm now weighing up the final look, it's been painted rover pagent blue, i'm thinking about adding some silver bruiser repro decals

Bruiser decals don't look good on the Hilux because it lacks the rear cab. You might better like to try the Mountaineer ones?

Anyway, please post some pictures of your truck when you can!

    All the best!

  2. Personally i think 2.2 wheels look too big. On mine I used the srandard wheels with larger tyres (rc4wd rock crushers).

    Howdy blaketron,

Well, the size of wheels depends on what do you have in mind when building your 1979 SR-5 Toyota Pick-up model. I used 2.2 Kyosho wheels with Bruiser tires and they are not "too big". As a matter of fact, they are the perfect scale representation of a Firestone All Traction Utility 48 incher. Of course, what I had in mind when building my truck was a mid-80's Californian Mudbog racer -that's the reason why 48 inchers do look scale in my truck.

    You have a nice day!

  3. Hey Suzy, how are you.

I have the old red ones. I am not really interested in buying new ones. Basically, I want to bring life back to the oil filled dampers just because I remember they used to be a must back in the day. :-)

Oh, and by the way, I don't think the Clod Junkyard have the replacement for these metal parts, but even if they had, they overcharge shipping too much for sending things here. Even if it's a tiny metal part, which is pretty sad.

    Have a great week!

  4. Hey everyone,

I am now restoring a 1987 Tamiya Clod Buster 4x4x4 monster truck and I recently got for peanuts a battered Bullhead chassis. Axles and gears are alright, but when I dismantled the 8 non-working yellow shocks I found that there was something more than just rust there. Seven of the metal parts had the tip broken, therefore I can not use these anymore. All of the other parts, o'rings and plastics, are in very good condition. Now all I want to know if there is any chance to find these metal parts used or new somewhere?

Thanks in advance and y'all have a great Sunday!

  5. Hey Y'All,

I'm in the middle of a restoration of a Tamiya 1987 Clod Buster 4x4x4 truck and I'm still in need of some parts:

    - TWO original 13T pinions

    - ONE front light (just one) part # K1

    - TWO differential dust covers part # B7

I don't need them to be brand new. Used will be alright, as long as they are NOT broken.

If someone, has them, please reply with prices. I'm in Santiago de Chile and I'm paypal-ready.

Thanks in advance and y'all have a GREAT 2009!

  6. Oh, yeah... now I found it! How I wish I'd have that sticker!

And yes, the Hilux 4WD plates are the extra ones included with the High-Lift kit. You have to look twice to notice they are similar but not really the same as the original used in the 1981 tamiya pick-up or the 1:1 Toyota display truck.

This is it. But never as cheap as paper and scotch tape! :

By the way who drives your Bruiser, a doctor?

    Have a good one!!

  7. Other than the chrome TOYOTA lettering, all other stickers would be off the original Bruiser &/or Hilux sheets i'd say.

That's the most interesting thing in your Bruiser truck. Because that "4 wheel drive" sticker is not made by Tamiya. I doublechecked the scans I have of all three Toyota pick-up models that were done by tamiya (Toyota 4x4, Bruiser, and Mountaineer) and it's not there. It's a great thing because it's exactly like the one that's in the tailgate of the 1:1 Toyota pick-up. I want to have one of those!

  8. in preparation for our recent Vintage Enduro, i pimped my tailgate

Obviously, I like your Bruiser truck a LOT. It's still the impossible dream to me. Anyway, I was interested in the way you finished the tailgate of your pick-up. At first I had the door handles painted silver on my Toyota, but then, comparing it to the actual truck, I learnt that it was not correct. I would like to have the 4 wheel drive sticker that you have there. Where did you find it?
Anyway, I'm attaching a picture of the 1:1 Toyota SR-5 Hilux, so you can see the tailgate.

Merry Christmas, Wills, and you have a great 2009!!!

  9. here ya go bro... Merry Christmas :)

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
You were always there when I needed some info or help- this is just what I needed. My cousin will print them for me tomorrow -I'll upload some pictures as soon as the rollbar is finished.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, and thank you again!!

  10. Hey guys,

Please help! Title says it all. I need a scan of the Mountaineer rollbar light covers, you know, the blue BL thing.

I can get them printed on paper and then put the paper between two pieces of clear tape. It's a good solution, I just did it with the interior radio and indicators and they look great.

You all have a great week.
    :)

  11. The emblems aren't on the sides and grille of the new bodies because all the metal emblems are included with the sticker set, part number 9495521

High Lift's emblem stickers are terrible. They come off too easily. I'm very sorry tamiya does not give you an option for them. And, worst of all, you can't purchase a new set again. My own truck says "lux 4W". I HATE this stupid modification... stickers for emblems, c'mon...

    Anyway, have a great Sunday!

  12. Did you manage to mount the Sand Scorcher body?

    Hi!

I still have the Beetle body (1987 version) but I have not tried to use it yet. I now have a GF, and dont have more money to keep my hobby up. Anyway, I think I am going to buy a beat up chassis to restore and in time I will have a true Sand Scorcher better.

    You have a great weekend!

  13. Just check your dampers are the right length, if too long the drive shaft jumps out when suspension on full travel.

    Thanks, Zakspeed.

Actually, I started having this problem by the time I changed the position of the shocks. Will try to get them where they were, but it is very frustrating that you can't really use the full potential of it. :-(

Thanks again and have a great day!
