  1. I have a set of the clear ones that came with my M chassis. Can't remember if it's the 4 or 5. I'm pretty sure they will fit on an M3 though. As soon as my mom ships my stuff, I can find them. I also have the black shocks that came with my TA03 SW. Not sure if those'll fit.
  2. Wow that is fast granddad. What motor/esc/battery setup are you running?
  3. Oooh I like that. Never really been much for trucks, except the vintage Tamiya's, but this looks like it could be a lot of fun. Especially on that chassis.
  4. Good idea Turnip, I just discovered those. Any idea what size bit to get?
  5. So, I started doing a DB01 overhaul which was inspired by my stepson's burning out the rear ball diffs. I replaced the stock damper stays with cf ones. 3Racing in the rear, Tamiya in the front. Then I some blingy steering arms, rear hubs, high traction chassis, aluminum motor heat sink, stabilizers and finally a slipper clutch. Well I get to dismantling the old rig and discover that one of my titanium screws in my front diff cover is stripped. So then I realize, in order to get this out, I'm gonna have have to dremel the screw to slot it. Which will effectively ruin that part. Does anyone know of another method to back out stripped screws? After I have resigned myself to the fact that I'll have to ruin this part to complete the overhaul, I start searching for replacement A parts, either stock or carbon fiber reinforced. There are currently NONE anywhere! What is going on with this parts tree? Not one place I checked had it in stock, including TamiyaUSA or eBay. If anyone has an extra I'd love to buy it at a reasonable price.
  6. Truck Norris, where did you get the roll bar parts? I really like the extra realism
  7. Those should work, as I recently replaced the stock dampers on my db01 and then took those and put them on my hotshot with upgraded front and rear damper stays. I would wait on another opinion from someone else before you pull the trigger though. I have yet to run the upgraded hotshot.
  8. Wow great idea, can this drywall mesh be found at homedepot or the hardware store?
  9. Yes excellent topic! I got into it around my 13th birthday. Never could find a racing league, let alone another kid with an rc car. I thought my Wild One was great though.
  10. I have built 3 kits with RC Screwz stainless screw sets. Each time there has been an issue with the set. Either they don't have the exact screws to match the Tamiya kit screws or they have stripped. I just completed a swap of the stock transmission cases for the silver ones on the Porsche Jagermeister. A totally unnecessary thing to do, but I like the looks so I went for it. After assembling both the front and rear transmission cases and putting them back on the car, I realized I had forgotten to put a crucial part back in the rear, and so had to open it up. 2 of the 3 screws stripped immediately. I actually had to slot 4 screws just to remove the old ones in the 1st place, which essentially ruins the plastic part. I used a tapping screw for every single hole and still this happens. Needless to say, I am DONE with using their sets. Anyone else have these issues I've mentioned?
  11. Wonder if this is the right place to post this: Recently got my Hotshot out of storage and while fiddling around with it, realized how limited the travel on the steering is. Is this normal?
  12. So I'm slowly putting this kit together, making my watch list of hop up parts, etc. I have 2 questions, this kit says it is 257mm. I would like to put the datsun 240z rally body on it which is 251mm. Will this work? What aluminum dampers would replace the stock plastic ones that come with the kit? Remember, I'm building the long damper kit. Thanks in advance for your help!
  13. I am a little lost when it comes to the parts he used for that tutorial. I wish he had laid them all out so we can see what to look for.
  14. Thanks for that Mokei! Yes, it ended up being the wrong nut so USER ERROR. Double checked the shock tower placement and I'm good. Now I'm wondering about tackling the wheelbase issue I've been reading about.
  15. Alrighty so I've come up against a roadblock and I just may have a defective part. In step 16 where you attach the metal support stay, and then attach the front damper stay to that, I cannot attach the nut on the left side if you are looking at it from the front. It hits the rounded, raised part of the gearbox on the left side, preventing it from even going in at all. Has anyone else come up against this?
  16. Maybe I should start a new topic, but I'm wondering about a few things pertaining to this kit. What aluminum shocks can I replace the stock ones with? What other hop-ups are possible for this car? This will be my first build in a couple of years. Yeah I know, what took me so long? Anyway, this kit grabbed my attention as it was on a site called Massdrop for less than $200 shipped, so I had to snatch it up.
  17. Doh! Yup did the trick but I'm afraid I will run out of grease before the job is done. Might have to bust out the crisco.
  18. I'm having a heck of a time getting the dogbones through the boot. Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution? I don't remember having this issue with the old style drive shafts. I'm tempted to get the universals to avoid this problem.
  19. A while back I bought some repro decals for the Wild One. Does anyone a good source for repro decals?
  20. I expect the seller is taking advantage of limited availability at the $350 price point. I expect them to be sub $200 when they are more readily available. I like the look of the new transmitter though. Also, I looked at the tamiyablog future releases and the tamtechs are not on there. Wonder why.
  21. Hey does the rere Wild One come with bearings or is it still bushings?
  22. So I ended up getting a really good deal on a Wild One kit. less than $160 shipped. Will be commencing the build at the end of next month. It's to be the end of the school year gift to my stepson. I have a feeling he's going to love it but will need a lot of guidance in the build.
  23. Willy the M Chassis dampers won't fit the Tamtech will they?
