  1. Well, having read all the posts tonight (there really is nothing on TV) I'm going against the grain but I quite like it, holes don't bother me, wheel colour is good but ugly design. I like the wide stance, gives it more of a "buggy" look, I like the raised height too. I know how you guys feel, I was the same about the re-re SS body arches. I'd buy one. Cheers from big ears.
  2. Hi all, I did a search but couldn't find a definitive answer. I need to mask off a poly shell and was wondering if the masking tape needs to be removed while the paint is still wet? Thinking about it, if the paint needs a couple of coats then the paint would have dried anyway? Any advice i'm still new to all the paint malarkey Thanks
  3. Hi I'm struggling to get the Hilux high lift lower. So far I have followed the Miga tutorial and removed the leaf spring spacer (L3)? and re-positioned the shocks. I have also read that it's possible to get the body lower...but how? I read that the white spacers under the radio bay, hood and bay need to be removed, if these are the 6 spacers below the flat motor cover then then do I need to run the motor wires above this? Are these the only spacers that need removing (the only other white spacers are for the windscreen mounts) but if the body is too low it will sit on top of the motor and the rear bumper will have to be lowered or removed? Any help would be great. Thanks
  4. Hi, Does anyone know if the standard Hilux tyres (Rock Cruiser M/T) would fit onto the Tamiya Hummer/Humvee rims? Thanks
  5. I went the other way and added a section. I looked at how the original wings overlapped the nose, so I tried to extend the rear of the nose. I used an old membership card (old RAC) cut two sections to the shape I wanted, dropped them into near boiling water to make them flexible and bent over the bottom to follow the shape of the nose. Once they had cooled I super glued them in place and filled the back with milliput and sanded the join. This is with the first coat of primer. It still stands out, but having the extra section pulls it back and makes it look more solid?
  6. For me the arches make a huge difference, while it's a shame the new body is a Blitzer, I think the nose is spot on and I like the new door mirrors. The original has a lot of memories, and I'm lucky I still have it. Can't wait to have the new one sitting next to it!
  7. I think a lot of people do care, I had hoped for an SS shell not a BB. Those examples are great but there's still a lot of folks that don't want to customize the shells. Having said that, Tamiya could have sculpted the front wings to follow the (original) box art more, could have been a nice selling point? Regarding the sag in the official US photo, can someone say whether the new SRB have the old torsion bars?
  8. It is an official SS, for me though it's just a hybrid of a Buggy Champ and a Blitzer. I wouldn't have minded if it was a brand new body design, but it's what a lot of people have been doing for years; a SRB chassis finished wth a BB shell. I had expected Tamiya to be faithful to the original as the Buggy Champ was. I was lucky to have an SS back in 79 and was looking forward to having a new SS sitting next to it, so the chances are I will get one, I'd just hoped for something more original. I'll wait and see what the final spec is?
  9. I agree, I think Tamiya have missed a real opportunity with this, I don't mind a few changes but they should have stayed close to the original shell
  10. Like the Blizter shell the front arches seem to have a larger space to the rear of the front wheels, on the original SS the curved arch brought it closer to the front tyre. I can't decided whether the rear arch is shorter at the back than the original, again more Blitzer? Also the SS arches had a raised edge on them, the new one looks to be missing this. Am I being pedantic...maybe, but I was hoping it would be less Blitzer.
  11. The body, without the nose cone, looks like a Blitzer to me? Can't tell if the door handles are molded and if the rear lights are two pieces?
  12. Hi, Came across this: http://www.firebox.com/product/2519/Micro-...ing-Set?via=cat hornet and avante option
  13. I wasn't too sure if links were allowed, I thought I read something a while back? It's a cracking motor
  14. This made me smile, go to ebay search and type in "1971 VW baja beetle" and see a real Sand Scorcher for sale, nice stinger! Cheers
  15. Hi, I thought the Mini copper wheels were 1/10? I want something less bling and without low-pro tyres. I'm also unsure as to what tyres fit different rims. I think chunky off-road tyres will look too large. Thanks
