My supershot also has the AS-7 servos in it. It would seem that it has unmatched receiver/transmitter. Unusual but easy mistake & something I have done myself before. Having the 27 in the model name is what made me look into it. Maybe that is why it has been sold on at some stage. I did give it a quick run & it seemed to go ok although I didn't drive it more than 20 metres away. It can all be used on something, was just wanting to confirm the operating frequencies of the different models. Thanks for your replies & efforts Brad.

I just pulled the Supershot apart to find it had an Arc-229 receiver in it with the AP-227 transmitter & matching 29 mhz crystals. Does this sound right?
-
Brad it was Mario's. Just did a bit of cleaning on it along with the other 4 victims of yesterday's run.
-
Hey Brad. I should have known you or maybe Matt could tell me something. (I should get your email or phone number one day for when I need to know something)I thought the the model having 227 in it might mean something. I did see someone say on the net they thought it stood for 2 channel, 27 mhz. They car works as is but I have had this happen before where I was running a car with the wrong crystal in the transmitter. Was using 27mhz transmitter with 29mhz crystals or vise versa. It did work, some days fine others not so good. In the end I got sick of it on the bad days & investigated further to find my problem.

Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me if the techniplus ap-227 is a 29 or 27mhz transmitter? Got one yesterday with a supershot I bought at the track off a guy. It's got a 29mhz crystal in it but not sure if it's just got the wrong one in it. I tried looking in the forum for more info but didn't find what I was looking for. Someone had a scanned manual but it seemed to contradict itself. Any help would be appreciated.

Very sad news & would explain an unanswered email(Was going to remind him today. Glad I didn't now) from Tony. Thought it was odd as he's always right on the ball with excellent service. I wish you a speedy recovery Tony from what would be a devastating blow.

Great to see people talking openly & unashamedly about the unloved TL-01! My first 2 cars. Don't see much about this model on here!! I agree with the other guys in that you can't run a low turn motor on this chassis, especially with the speed tuned gear set. One thing I do with this chassis is dremel out & drill some holes in the chassis around the motor to get some air to it to try & cool it a little. Have also considered running some type of bonnet scoop with flexible electrical conduit attached directing air onto the motor. Have the parts but haven't tried so don't know if it would help. Never did get them to handle/steer very good but have never run decent tires on it either.

The Falcon for me is the underrated one. I have had 4 of these sitting around for the last year or so & have recently got one going. I think it was all the yellow that attracted me to them(me being a yellow freak). They sort of look cool, sort of look a bit ugly but I worked out what was wrong with their looks while working on the recent project. They sit too high in the front with the wishbones drooping down. Push down on the car to lower it a bit & all of a sudden it becomes on of the best looking buggies around. I was surprised how much fun it was to drive. I wasn't expecting much after reading the bad comments here about them but had a blast with it & it didn't handle as bad as I thought it would. Not the best car around, but not as bad as it's rated. I'm currently on a quest to try & get it to handle better, messing with shock valving & oils.
The other model that gets a bad wrap(& probably deserves it) is the tl01 chassis. My first Tamiya. I have a few cars based on this chassis but it seems to be generally laughed at/ignored.

Unless you hate- going faster with no other upgrades, longer run times, more punch/power, fully charged batteries ready to go weeks after they were last charged I wouldn't get them! Seriously they are great, you won't regret the investment!!! I nearly always come home with unused, fully charged batteries these days instead of messing around charging on site running my real car battery flat(actually destroyed it)

Intellect's IP4000 is the same dimensions as the Yeah Racing round edge pack, but 4000mAh and 25C. It too is 138mm long and 3mm longer than a regular Ni-MH/Ni-Cd stick pack. I needed to modify the battery stopper on a TA01/02 chassis to get it to fit. You would need to do similar on a Grp C chassis.
Mark pretty well sums it up. I use this very battery in my group c cars & they fit. A little longer but they do go in.

As others have said it's all market driven & yes prices do get out of hand but that is why ebay is so successfull. They arer tapping into human frailties & they know it. I know this as I have a bit of an addiction for ebay & compulsive buying that I have never experienced before in other facets of my life. I found the best way to bid on ebay is to not even bid in the days leading up to the end of the auction as this just pumps up the price unnecissarilly(this also gives people time to reconsider their last bid & bid again or for the seller to get his mate to put a bid in for him to bump the price up because he is seeing some people showing some interest. As a matter of fact I think that most auctions that have bids put on them in the lead up are false bids or ebay newbies as experienced ebayers I wouldn't think would bid in this period. As you would know common sense does not come into this hobby & people get carried away after a rethink & will bid beyond their original limit if they have had time to think about it)but to make up your mind the maximum amount your prepared to pay for the item & bid in the last 8 seconds. If you win, good! If you loose, it wasn't meant to be! If you really want it bad & have too much money, bid high & blow everyone else out of the water!! It is like a game of poker. Don't show your hand untill you have to & by then it's too late. Just my 2 cents & how I bid/win. Nothing new I'm sure.

I wonder how our track will be this weekend after all the rain? I actually drove past there today but was in the car with my boss so couldn't pull in to have a look unfortunately. Should be dry if we have no more rain, I hope.

I don't know much about the size difference but I bought a set of these tires & rims to put on one of my shelf queen dyna storms & they look great with the blue paint job (I just did a quick measure, they appear to be the same size as the originals).

Thanks for the pics Ian. Glad you turned up & enjoyed yourself. See you at the next run.

When you use the flatbed of your 1:1 hilux 4x4 single cab(on going project that hasn't seen the road for 8 years, needs money & time spent on it that all seems to go to the r/c cars!!) for a workbench to work on r/c cars!!
-
You know your obsessed when your seriously thinking of selling one of your real 1:1 collectible cars(hsv gto coupe) that you know you will never get another of, rather than sell any of your remotes which you can always find more of because you are deadset broke from an ebay/tamiya addiction!!!

I just had a look at the fleabay ad again & he's calling it an official copy, reprint. He was/is a member on Tamiyaclub as well. Going to send an inquiring email I think.
-
It's not even in colour! It's black & white. Sounds a bit sus to me. Paid as much for it as I should have for an original I might add. US$28 for an egress manual.
-
Was just wondering if anyone had heard of, or if there was such a thing as an "official copy" of a build manual from tamiya? I won one on fleabay & this is what it was called but when it turned up it just looked like a good photo copy of an original. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Another good turn up on Saturday. I had a blast again. It's good to use some of my cars for a change. Trying to get some others up & running for a bit of variety.

Good Deal?

Buy it & then sell it on. You should make money on it, or raid the electrics for another project sell it & you should still get more than what you paid for it. It's a good price. They are fun to drive though, you may like it.
