  1. Baking soda? Geez thats a new one!
  2. Great thanks. I'll be using the car so the glue needs to be really strong! Would anyone have a link of some good stuff I can buy from a model shop or better still ebay? Thanks
  3. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone could recommend some really good glue? I have a vintage chassis that is in need of some repair and I need the toughest glue possible for the job Any ideas? Also will this tyle of glue be too harsh for say weaker plastic like the plastic used for a driver figure? I also need glue for this too! Finally, to save starting another thread and clogging up the forum, can anyone recommend a really good paint stripper to use on a painted driver figure? many thanks in advance as always
  4. Thank for that post Paul. Can you tel me however why licensing would suddenly be an issue for a kit/spare part now when it was not a few years back when the kits/spare parts were first released?! I really don't understand that!
  5. I built shelves in the shed and have all my RC cars on those
  6. Great responses on this thread, and all make for very interesting reading too. Surely even if Tamiy didn't have the original toolng required, they could just male it again and still make a profit on the car? Very true though that all of us on her eis hardly the masses in terms of the world wide market that Taimya would obviously want to hit, but I guess time will tell. I'm suprised some of the re-res that have come back out before the Beetle, but I guess they have thier reasons? I wish they would release thier info on the amount of sold/produced kits, I can't see what difference it makes to thier business model? It's very customer friendly for thier cusomters/fans too Have Tamiya's owners always been the same? Can we all write to them to request a re-release?
  7. So what do you think makes these models sell and not sell? Surely Tamiya did not advertise/distribute some models as much/well as others, hence why some sold and some did not do you think?? Why of why are they not releaseing more of the classics? ESPECIALLY the Monster Beetle, they would make a MINT with that as we would all be buying one!! Also I really am suprised Tamiya do not have any kind of ball part figures on how many of each model number were produced? Surely there must be a ball park figure we could find from somewhere??!
  8. Hi Brett thats really nice well done I love the Beetle and have one myself from ebay. I paid quite a bit and have purchased a couple o fparts to bring it back to life, its in good condition but I do use it I never knew why people would have shelf queens but after building a brnad new Marui Ninja about 6 months ago and am yet to run it, I really can see why people decide to have shelf queens! I would say if you are in two minds then don't run it
  9. Wow excellent - are you going to build it? Why have you got two NIB Blackfoots? Why not build one and use it and keep the other NIB, or at least have a shelf queen? Im envious Id quite like a Blackfoot! Was it expensive or did you get it at a good price?
  10. Geez NIB too! I wonder if anyone has one built and actually drive them?!
  11. Wow that really does sound rare!! I'd love to see stats on what kits did better than others/more were made etc, there must be stats somewhere?...
  12. I was just wondering, after slowly building up my collection of FAB old school RC cars from when I was a child (I currently now have: MArui - Ninja, Galaxy, Samurai!, and Tamiya Hornet, Lunchbox, Monster Beetle!), if there were cars that were for some reason or another, rarer then others? I know my Maruis are all extremely rare seeing as the company no longer make RC cars anymore, but what about the Tamiya ones? Obviously Tamiya now do their re-res so there is always a chance that the car you wanted as a kid but never had, will one day be available to buy and build, but of course its holding out, or trying to get a decent original one! I was looking for example at articles on the old Bigwig. Now there is a car that was a 4WD and had the technigold as standard! Not many Tamiya cars had that motor as standard did they? (The Toyota Celica is another that springs to mind). One of my friends had one, and it needed that extra power just to get going I think, it was a heavy car yet had special styling even though for me, it always looked a little like a toy car as the shell was not a polycarbonate one! Nonetheless it's got me thinking about it and I though maybe I should try looking for one, yet they just don't seem to be about, which made me think that perhaps this car was a rather rare one? More so than others, after all I didn't see anyone else with one ever again!! So does anyne know if some were/are rarer than others, and what the state of play is i.e. if there is a list or just hearsay as to what are harder to get hold of than others, or perhaps even stats from Tamiya themselves on how many of each specific kit number were ever made, I guess that would be a great indication hey
  13. Thanks Terry. I think i'll search flea-bay for an old receiver and try it all together like that first, then if its not great/things don't work, I'll replace the lot! I'll let you know how I get on
  14. Well the trouble is the car came from America so I even had to order some adapters to change the servo leads etc all in preparation, and its an old vintage Marui (Samurai) so I really dont want to take it all apart and try and fit in newer smaller ones that won't fit properly without a lot of messing about etc etc
  15. Can anyone advise. The connectors that I have on one of my RC cars are the slightly larger variety therefore don't quite fit into the newer smaller receivers. Is there ay way around this or is it just a case of purchasing an old school one, if so does anyone have one?! Many thanks
  16. Brilliant, threadlock ordered this morning! I'll see how I get on with other washers that will (hopefully!) fit!
  17. Thats great thanks Hey to save starting a new thread and I know you are Mr Monster Beetle - can you tell me where i may look for Monster Beetle screw bags, or better still what screw bags contain pretty much the same? I'm after screws BB2, BC4 and BA3?? Thanks as always
  18. Hi guys, my front steering column always pops off of late, and I've lost the small plastic washer that pops in where you then srew a self tapper into the servo. Clearly the Servo head is worn as the screw can pull out with a little force. Am I best to buy some screw lock-tite stuff, or purchase a brand new servo? What woudl you recommend? If I were to stick a long oversized self tapper into it, I think I'd brake the servo?
  19. Many thanks but can't see where the connectors are from your link?
  20. Ok cool so in a nutshell I'm better off replacing the servos! I'd kind of like to keep the ESC in so that its still 100% original if you get my drift, as its great to have a vintage car looking exactly the way it should right? I wouldn't have thought much can go wrong with an ESC anyways??? Terry if you or anyone else would like the old school servos and the receiver, do let me know and we can sort something out!
  21. Hi yes you are spot on, it IS an old Futaba! Thats interesting about the frequency being illegal in the UK! Out of interest why is it, what does it interfere with exactly, and also who would know if you DID use it?! So I need to stick a different receiver in, thats fine, but can you tell me what I need to do about the servo and ESC not being compatible with the connections? Thanks for your reply!
  22. Hio there guys, I have today taken receipt of an old Vntage Marui Samurai! I am very excited about it as I've liked them for years! One problem, the receiver is a frequency of some '72,000mhz' so not the standard 27 mhz that all of my cars are running on. I thought I'd just replace the crystal but then I notced that the pins for all the servos and the ESP are all three pronged then go into the receiver, not the 'usual' way round that I am used to in the the pins are on the receiver and I would then stick the servo 'female' connection cables into the receiver! Can I ask, do I need to cut all the connectors off these servos and ESP and connect new ones for a new style receiver, or can I obtain and 27Mhz crystal that would fit into the receiver, as that again has 3 pins and not the standard 2 that I'm used to. Is this because the car has come from outside of the UK or just because it's a totally different style of receiver that I'm used to? I really need the best solution so that I can get racing Thanks in advance as always
  23. Thats great thanks, I think I'll order an 18 tooth and 20 tooth pinion and let you know how I get on
  24. Brilliant thanks so much! Out of interest, the Ninja came with two pinions, one was a 16 tooth one and the other an 18 tooth one. Do you know if its possible to fit like a 20 tooth or even bigger into it?? Thanks
  25. I have to say, I run an RZ with a TEU101-BK and it works just fine??
