  1. Hi, many thanks for the advice. Can I ask then that I just need ask for a RW Racing or Robinson Racing 18tooth pinion gear for the Ninja? Thanks once again
  2. It's for an old Marui Ninja
  3. I have been recommended a few in the past by various RC shops, but wondered what was the best greese to protect gears as far as you are all concerned? I want to PROTECT my vintage cars gears with the best gear going, so any help would be great on this matter! Also whilst on the 'gears' subject - does anyone know where I can purchase a pinion gear from for a motor? Just the standard silver pinion that is used with all electric cars really Thanks
  4. Very true and many thanks for the advice
  5. How ridiculous and OTT is that that they made you take it apart and show then? A kid and his dad just having fun..how pathetic!!
  6. Quality pic!! Where was that taken, not in Nottingham by any chance was it? Just looks wfully famaillar! My mate at school had a Turbo Panther and I wated one SOOOOO badly! You are right guys, the rechargeble batteries were the only way to go with these old RC cars, they seemed to give out more power than even the duracells!! I loved the 'turbo' function on the controller, quality
  7. This is all a little beyond me! Can anyone answer my last question though which was if I should be accelerating gradually with my ESC for an old vntage as I wanted to know if you went really quickly to top speed with a MSC and an ESC, is there a difference in damage to a gearbox or only when you brake/slam it in reverse? Thanks
  8. Hi, so do you mean that I should slowly increase the speed/throttle in order to save an old gearbox, as if I just stick it straight info full speed, there is no difference from an ESC to an old school manual one...is there?!!
  9. Hi mate, can I ask, when you say its harsh on old gear boxes - do you mean that you can slam it in reverse straight away, or that its literally more harsh because of the acceleration somehow? Also when you say no brakes, do ESC's literally use a 'braking' system, I though it just slams the neutral, but I guess thats still less harsh than slamming the wheels into reverse straight away right?
  10. Yup that's what I have done so at least I know I've done the best I can no probs, it's the design of the car that makes it sit slightly down on the rear shocks, but as mentioned on this thread, that is supposed to be the way for better handling, and it DOES handle REALLY well, so all is well
  11. Hmmm very interesting answers, but all different from each other and hard to know what is right and what is wrong! I imagine from it all, that some suspension droop is good for handling. My rear droops more than my front end, the car is a 4WD so I think this all means its 'OK'?? One thing though, is that I could screw the suspension into lower settings on the ars, which I guess means it won't droop any more but will stiffen it up a little? Good for onroad but not offroad I guess as clearance is required then? Finally am I right in thinking that I should get some extra suspension clips for the springs so that I can tighten the springs to make the suspension a little harder in terms of resistance?
  12. Does anyone know if old damper oil makes any difference to newer oil out of interest?
  13. Lunchbox headlights would be good. I can't see where to get them from anywhere as I don't think it's possible without an extra battery pack - does anyone know the answer to this?!
  14. Hi mate yup I think you are right about running it!!.... I see what you mean about the suspension but at the same time it does seem to be rather low, but like you say perhaps that was the design? It's an awesome looking car!! I'm going to have to sort myself out a showroom to stick some pictures up
  15. Hi mate, whats the time down under at the mo?! It's 1am here!! Well all the shafts were fully open when I screwed all the caps on so I don't think it can be that??
  16. Thats a very interesting response, many thanks. Very interesting that the battery supplies 100% current at any speed! No wonder I used to get so annoyed when I was a kid and my cars would run out after about 5 mins (I kid you not - especially with the old batteries being like 1700mah tops!!)
  17. I have just finished building my BRAND NEW Marui Ninja (I'm so excited, it looks amazing!). The thing I've noticed is that the back dampers are sitting a little low and if I pull them up and let go, they lower slightly. Any ideas what causes this? Could it be old damper oil (i.e. its been in the box for years) or something else?! Any help on this would be great! Also I don't know if I can bring myself to drive it as its sooo perfect, but I always told myself I wouldn't turn into someone who keeps a shelf queen and that all cars are there to be run, but the fact I have a couple of older ones in my collection now, I'm wondering if I should just bash those?! What would you do in my situation?
  18. After recently running my newly acquired Monster Beetle which has the original speed controller & resister in it, I noticed that the battery did not last that long at all, and wondered if in fact it is because new electric speed controllers are so much more efficient that they save a lot of the battery power? Also do they make the cars any faster at all?
  19. Well I have a re-re Hornet and a re-re Lunchbox, then REAL vintage I have a Marui Galaxy and THREE Marui Ninjas which I run them all, why the badword not! They are here for my running pleasure and I think you should enjoy them, absolutely I have also just purchased a Marui Samurai which i will run too, why not! They all bring back great childlhood memories and I love reminising every time I take one of my cars out for a spin I have just discovered a neighbour has an old Super Hornet so I've helped him get that back running so I now have a partner in crime!! Now the question is, who wants to meet up in Nottingham UK for a vintage spin!
  20. Whats better the RZ or the Technigold in terms of speed/torque then would you say? I have an RZ in my lunchbox!
  21. Thats great thanks for all of your help
  22. OMG that paint job is AMAZING! That must have taken you forever! Looks absolutely AWESOME though
  23. I am trying to mask out some windows on a shell and they have curved edges. I am literally just cutting different lengths of Tamiya masking tape and adding bit by bit to get the best shape - are there any other better and more effective ways? Thanks!
  24. Hi guys, I know you will be able to help seeing as you own Monster Beetles I have managed to find out that I need parts:- E3, C11 and C6 & C9 to complete the beetle (thats if I don't get any hex diffs which should sort the slight wheel problem out!). Do you know where I can order these from? I know the Monster Beetle has smilar parts t the Blitzer beetle is it? Or the frog or something like that?! If so I may be able to get these from an online store, a I've not had any joy looking for them on ebay etc. Many thanks as always!
