  1. Good idea for the bumper, much like I did with the mini. Got the chassis assembled and the body sitting on it. Still waiting on my decals but added a few racing decals I had on hand to get started.
  2. I like it, should be lots of fun. The local hobby shop had a set of drift tires on rims last time I was in, might need a set for the spring.
  3. Yes and Yes, The body doesn't have a chassis under it in the last few pictures just sitting on the tires, just inset some faux lights in the lower spoiler, and plan on getting some lights as well maybe similar to what I have in my mini.
  4. Lots of potential, M chassis might be a good option.
  5. Well guys, thought I'd post a quick update. Got both the missing battery holders so the chassis can be assembled but I need a new steering servo, I'll rob one from another truck or boat and order a couple of new ones. I finally decided I couldn't stand tne colour the car turned out and painted the outside with the left over backing black, for a satin black finish, much like a real low budget racing team might use. When the decals arive the yellow should look pretty good against the black background IMO. Cheers jay
  6. Didn't get much done today, but dismantled the old gearboxes and cleaned all the parts, for reassembly into the new chassis. But I discovered I don't have the battery holders that attach to the chassis. I managed to get one from my brother off a parts tree in one of his many Tamiya kit boxes. Still need one more, I gave my nephew a bunch of spare parts for a blackfoot extreme I had give him, hopefully I tossed one in there as I will be to his place tomorrow for the Daytona 500. Then I can start assembly with out waiting for another parts order
  7. I just got my first order from RC mart, shocked at how quick it got here. I can now build the chassis.
  8. First order from RCmart, wow I have waited a lot longer for stuff from local suppliers. Now I can get to work on the rally car.
  9. Thanks Guys, If it wasn't just going to be a runner body I'd be more disapointed with the colour. But I might do another shell for the shelf later. I took another picture wich shows the greenish colour a bit better. The black backing didn't do alot.
  10. Well I've had a bit of a change in plan, bought a can of what I expected to be metalic green but when I started spraying it was very strange. Turned out to be a flip flop paint from pactra that had to be backed with a special black backing paint. Anyway I was able to get some at another shop today. It's not what I planned but it is a beater body and not worth redoing again. It does look green at certain angles, not really showing up in the pictures. I might use the Martini decals instead of the WRC ones. I have had word that the new chassis has been shipped from RCmart, my first order from them. Thanks Jay I had expected the cap colour.
  11. Great idea, and I'm OK with the chevy. Looks like fun.
  12. Well after completing my amg merc.I decided Iwanted a rally car. As I had a chopped up TL01, and a tight budget after the holidays I ordered a new chassis case off evil bay. I had been looking for a deal on a rally car shell, when my brother offered me another merc shell. Brought it home this afternoon and after checking out these forms for ideas to strip the paint off the lexan I went ahead and stripped it. I removed all the decals from the outside except the lights. I tried some denatured alchol with little success then tried this goo be gone paint stuff with pretty good results. I checked out the local hobby shop for some paint, but they had very little choice today. But I think I will go back Monday as they did have some green which should be Ok. I also ordered a set of decals for a subaru wrc. I think I can uses some of them and the yellow should look good with green, for a low budget rally look.. More or less this type of colour scheme ordered decals
  13. Thanks Pm, you have just enabled my addiction. first visit to RC mart and an order placed.
  14. Had my old AX10 out for a little run in the back yard today, it has a Bronco body (proline) and a slightly modified chassis as I use it as more of a scaler than a dedicated crawler.

  15. Well I guess this is done for now other than figuring out how to program the 3rd channel on the DX3, as I haven't used it yet. I decided not to add plowlights as the truck is lifted and the headlights clear the plow, looks a little like the cheap plows they sell at walmart etc. Put a trailer hitch on as well. Cheers J.
  16. I have both and never use the cordless one, but in my full size hand drills I always use my 19 volt cordless.
  17. Well those to topics got me thinking about my former plow truck. It was built on a cut up tl01 chassis with a blackfoot body and home built aluminum plow. I always liked it and had good feedback but in order to help out my nephew I dismantled it and gave him the body and plow gear. i still have the chassis such as it is and am thinking of restoring it back into a car again. Anyhow back to the present I also have my first scale project a modified TA02 with a blackfooot body as well. As it was snowing yesterday and my wife was away I made a pot of coffee and started digging through some of my scrap and found enough aluminum to recreate another plow. While its not complete yet i made pretty good progress. Plow blade made, split a piece of 1" aluminum tube and opened it up. I used some other odds and ends to make the brackets to mount it to the truck. i haven't built any up right s to mount lights as I don't have any yet. Servo mounted for the lift need to build the linkage this morning and mount some electrics maybe even some paint. Jay origional plow truck new plow parts and pieces progress as of this morning
  18. Nice lunch box, they are a blast not high tech just high energy fun. I really enjoy my "beach toy"
  19. Wow, first time I ever saw this model, funny thing is I was looking at the parma bodies last night, thinking I could mount one on my old TL01 chassis cause I wanted a street rod.
  20. Cool, no pun intended project. I don't know if it would work for you but I narrowed a set of TLT tires and rims for one of my trucks. They are on a modified TA02 now, but heres a couple of pictures on a scratch built scaler. Before After
  21. Great looking cars, the orange and silver look really good together. Rwd would be a lot of fun, maybe some drifting tires would add a little excitment
  22. Wow, we have been lucky and not got hit like that for a few years.
  23. Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. Hope I haven't stertrd a feud. But seriously for me a 50 yr old who only runs his cars for fun in parking lots not in competition. The budget friendly option suits me fine, if I raced my cars I would want better gear. All the best Jay
