Erich - who's in charge of taking and sharing pics?
Anyone is welcome to take pics. I'm going to be taking them, I know Jay (mr. lexan) will be too as well as Greg from RC Driver for Driver's coverage of the race. I'm also working on hooking up an in car camera so we can get some footage from the track.

Z yes you can come down and play friday, saturday is going to be qualifying wiht practice in the morning so it probably wouldn't work out as well. who knows, you may want to stay for the race too!
Track looks awesome. Mark and Jon have made some changes to make the track even better than it already was! Two weeks and counting!

Wow, this looks like a great thing to get to someday. It would be great if there was a meet like this in North Texas(DFW area) as I think I could make that and Houston is always hot and sticky and sometimes rainy enough to poo poo a good weekend racing outdoors. Don't get me wrong, there is an indoor track in New Waverly that has had some National meets, but you don't see vintage there as you would snap something on the first lap since these guys built a NITRO FRIENDLY track and the old stuff needs a bit of an OLD SCHOOL track to run on safely.
If it helps, I am asking for another organized race some other time of year for DFW area in Texas PLEASE, I want to race my MadCap again and my HotShot and maybe for fun a Blackfoot.
Thanks for keeping us all up to date on this kind of thing.
Thanks Crash, I'm going to see what happens after this year and I have a few other ideas kicking around so we'll see what happens.

I live in New Haven, CT, about 20 minutes or so from the event, I'm going to try and make this even, It sounds like a vintage car owner's dream come true, although I must say, I'm not quite sure If I would want to bash around in my Wild One
awfully tempted to do so
. Hey Erich, is there any info on the layout of the track for this event?? is it gonna be the same layout you have on there now?? Cause that is one nasty table jump you got there, NIce track though, is it gonna be vintage car friendly??Like I said before, I'm from New Haven, I might have to come by one of these days to check your hobby/track out.... from what I've seen from the pictures and videos it seems like an awesome place.. I used to race at Hobby Chambers in Orange, CT and In Xtreme R/C in New Milford (dirt oval)....

P.S.
what would the traxxas bullet be categorized as??
Bullet would be in 2wd. Thats awesome you live so close. No worries about that jump the part you think is bad is actually before you ever jump so its not a big deal. Its also a very slow jump so your not soaring through the air and smashing your cars or hitting those blocks whcih i'm sure you are worried about. I've driven the track myself and am a very avid vintage collector so I picked the track based on what I would run my own cars on. Hope to see you there!

Race is coming along nicely. Check out the ad in next months RC Driver Magazine. Hope to see some of you there!

Awesome. Good effort sir. As I have absolutely no chance of getting there, I (and I expect lots of guys on this forum) would love to see pics and video of the event...!
As for events - have a look at previous Tamiyaclub events for ideas - Wild Willy Race (Marui Super Wheelie / Golden Eagle etc allowed), Tamiya M-chassis race etc...
Keep us up to date Erich.
Will do. I'll be posting a general list of cars that are good in case people have any questions about if they can run theirs or not. Check back in the next few days.

Proud to announce Tamiya as a sponsor!

That's a fantastic thought! It's the center of the r/c universe.

Correction, 1/2 the r/c universe. The magazine side of r/c is out of CT until modern times

I wouldnt worry to much about the rules. We run a very wide mix of Vintage cars here in Japan and Hornets are just as good as Dynastorms when it comes to vintage racing.

Well, said and I certainly also agree that they were more in an intermediate class. The problem in forming the classics class was that I didn't want to see plastic chassis cars run against optimas and rc10 and such, so the challenge was giving what I consider the largest segment of r/c its own showcase keeping in mind that this isn't really your typical "race" and that its more about seeing all the old cars on track again just like the good old day.
No need to feel like your being negative at all. Trust me I greatly appreciate ALL input and certainly take it all into consideration for the future.

I wish they had one of these events in Southern California. I'd go nuts for something like this!!
Looking into moving the race around if it grows. Glad to see there's a lot of interest in it, thanks for your kind words.

2009 Vintage Offroad Nationals
I'm very proud to announce the 2nd Annual Vintage Offroad Nationals. After last years amazing race, myself and RCHR are rearing to go for another year of the Rally in the Valley and this year will promise to be our best yet! In addition to all of last years great racing, we're adding a swap meet. That's right, who need eBay when you can set up your very own vintage micro-shop. Table space is $10 per 4ft section and will be held on Saturday morning from 9am to 12pm. There will also be food this year with a full grill, soda, water and all the goodies that fuel every r/c racers day. We're working on a few other goodies so stay tuned to this thread for more updates and sponsor additions as the months go on! Can't wait to see you all in CT for some good old fashion bump and run racing!
