Yahoooo!!! Just been blasting it round the garden. Up some pretty steep hills and a few low jumps off the edge of the patio. Plenty fast enough for the time being. I love it. 4wdmt. It's bog standard apart from some 70mm oil filled shocks off eBay and ball bearings throughout. 70mm shocks I ordered the ball bearings off the same seller, but only 20 were supplied. You need 24 to change all of them including the gearboxes. For now, I've put 4 bronze ones in the outer hubs as these are the easiest to get to to swap later. I've ordered 4 more locally and will swap them over when they arrive. Transmitter is a Futaba 4EX, which I use for the F350 as well. It has a 4 model memory which is handy. 4 channel Futaba micro Rx connected to a standard Futaba servo on the steering. 4600maH Intellect battery pack. Masked the windows out prior to painting the top half with Tamiya PS23 Gunmetal. Body is PS17 Metallic Green. Wheel rims in PS23 as well. Not sure how long the paint will stay on the rims. Still time for another run

Just finished building my Dualhunter. Haven't had chance to run it yet, other than a quick test across the kitchen floor. Couldn't face painting it in the stock colours with pink stickers, so went for this scheme instead. I can't decide if it needs some more decals or if I should leave it as it is now.

Were the gearbox strip downs an easy job to replace the bearings in them? Did you need all 24 bearings? The set I ordered only has 20!!! bearings Thanks

Perhaps Novice should have asked Master prior to making purchase of Dualhunter. Can see what you mean about the CR-01 not being a "real" crawler though when I look at some crawler pictures with axles at 90 deg to each other. But at least the LC looks like it could be for real, and it is fun to play with.

How do you find the Dualhunter? I ordered one this week from Fusion but it hasn't arrived yet. ( I know, I can't help myself ) I fancied something with a bit more speed that I could knock about but would still handle off road surfaces. After reading several posts where folks were saying how good they were, I went ahead & bit the bullet. Have ordered a set of standard sized oil shocks & ball bearing kit from HK as well. Decided not to bother with shock towers & bigger shocks to start with. Did you put ball bearings in yours? If so, is it a simple job to split open the pre-assembled gearboxes to replace the bushes in their as well? The more I use the CR-01, the better I think it is. We just had the roof replaced on our house & there was a big pile of rubble & stone. I sent the CR-01 over it & it was really good fun picking a way through. I should have taken some photos. In stock form, the F350 is a real nice model, but too much of a compromise. I might try locking the front diff to see if it helps a bit more on the rough stuff. Don't want to trick it up though as it's nice to keep it standard.

I've managed to solve the problem, but interested to know if anyone has run into the same issue. I recently bought a 40Mhz Futaba 4EX FM set from hong Kong seller dragonshophk on ebay. It came with Channel 81 crystals. I then ordered a second receiver from Technobot in the UK & to make it work with my existing TX, I ordered a Single conversion Channel 81 TX/RX crystal set. The receiver wouldn't work when using the original Futaba TX crystal with the Technobots RX crystal. On closer examination the original Channel 81 crystals that came with the Futaba set were marked 40.810 The UK standard for Channel 81, and the crystal supplied by technobots is 40.815 On swapping both TX & RX crystals for the Technobots set, and getting a second 40.815 RX crystal from Technobots, all is well. Are the frequency steps different in different parts of the world, for the same nominal channel numbers. All the UK websites selling Futaba crystals are 40.xx5. But the set came with 40.xx0 As I say, I solved it in the end, but is it common knowledge that I just didn't have

Yep, The parts are the right ones. Now have two self centering sticks.

I want to paint the wheel rims on my Dualhunter when it arrives as I don't care too much for the standard colour scheme. Am I OK using the PS range of spraypaints, or should I use something else? I read another post suggesting the use of PS paint on older model wheels as it keys in better than acrylic, but I don't want to ruin the new rims on the Dualhunter. Any advice much appreciated. Yep, the LC came with all the ball bearings in the kit. Agree with you on the F350/Hilift. They should include ball bearings with it given the price. I picked a set up off ebay for mine from a UK seller for around 12.

Like you, I hadn't realised how addictive this hobby was!!! I bought the LC first, but before it was finished I had ordered the F350. Now I am considering yet another vehicle. The trucks are great but I now crave for something with a bit more speed Out of the F350 & the Crawler, the crawler is more fun in my opinion. To answer your question on the LC springs, they are held captive at the top & bottom. The design is such that it it is easy to change the springs for ones with different rates without a major stip down. I have seen different rate springs listed on the Tamiy USA website. I imagine for real serious crawling you would want softer springs & less damping in the shocks so the axles follow the ground contours with maximum articulation. The stock set up is probably a compromise to give some stability when running at full speed.

Now finished the build on the F350 and had a first test drive round the garden. Still got to sticker it up & add some detail. It takes me back to the Blazing Blazer of the 80's, but somehow it isn't as toughly built. I like the engineering and the MFC unit. I like the looks & detail in the body. Shame they didn't do more metal parts, like the axle casings and steering components. Having sold my wife & kids into slavery to buy both the CR-01 & F350, I have to say I do prefer the Rock Crawler. The F350 is technically very interesting but for playing off road and if looks count, the CR-01 gets my vote.

Yahhhoooo !!! Thanks guys. It was the ratchet. The indicator control signal must be really sensitive for the stick to return to neutral. I borrowed the self centre lever & spring off the left hand gear change stick. Was hoping I could add the ratchet to the gear lever stick, but there are no teeth on the left right axis movement inside the transmitter. Suppose it makes sense as you would never need a fixed stick position on that axis. I will see if I can get the parts in your link DudeWalker somewhere in the UK. Having said that probably cheaper to pay 2 bucks in the US plus a bit of postage. Cheers again.

Cheers Dudewalker, I was sat at my desk at work this morning thinking about converting the right stick to a self centre. I swapped over the parts from the left stick onto the right, so the left stick (throttle) would self centre. If the left/right & up/down components are the same inside, then I might take the self centre off the horizontal left stick (Gear select) and put that on the up/down right stick. I can't see a problem having the gear select stick on the ratchet. Probably easier in fact. Will take a closer look when i get home. Failing that, I will order the parts from a local Futaba dealer in the UK.

Hi Shodog, Tried as you suggested and it just doesnt want to play Engine rev mode works. Light selection on right stick with right trim fully down works. Lights & horn work on right stick when moved upwards with trim in centre. Steering works. Hazards work. Just no turn signals. I have got the ratchet on the right hand stick, so it doesn't self centre. Moved it across from the left stick. I am wondering if the thing is so sensitive to being returned to the centre position. Very frustrating.

Hi there, I have installed my MFC-02 into the F350, and as far as I can establish everything is working as it should. Except for the right and left hand turn indicators!!! I can select hazards by sliding the left hand trim to the right & moving the left hand stick to the right & back to centre. All 4 hazards flash continually, so no problem with the bulbs or connections. According to the handbook, with the right hand vertical trim centred, by moving the right hand stick fully down ( clutch function), if you move the steering right or left, the turn indicators should function. But they don't I have tried several re learnings of the stick travel, trim travel & transmission setting, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I am using a Futaba EX4 TX with R136F receiver. Like I say, all the other functions seem to work, including selecting headlamps/fog lamps/no lamps on the same right hand stick. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks, Tony

Thanks for all the suggestions. In the end, and as I will be using the MFC, I went with the stock build of main spring, with large leaf above it, and one shorter leaf below. Will see how it runs when fully built. Hoping to complete the wiring of the MFC-02 tonight, but the instructions are not very clear on how to route the various wires. I have a separate post running on this. I'm not sure which route the three wiring harnesses should take from the control unit up to the main MFC-02 unit.

Hi there, I am just in the process of fitting the MFC-02 unit to my F350. Can someone tell me the best route for the three wiring harnesses that come out of the control box? Initially I had these threaded up through the gap behind the motor, but decided they were too close to the motor itself. Now I have them running backwards and then in a U round the edge of the large black mounting platform for the radio gear. They are all hooked under the extra piece of plastic that is fastened at the back of the radio gear mounting platform. Also, do I need to bother with the receiver switch, or is this redundant with the MFC-02 control box? Thanks

Will be building up the springs tonight for my F350. I want to do some slow speed off roading so want reasonable axle movement, but also some tarmac use. I have already opted to lock the rear diff & leave the front free. How many spring leaves do you think I should use? Cheers,
