  1. Yep Tamiya PS5 - Black is the colour you'll want although Pactra Outlaw Black is also good, I used it for the wing on my DI and for the body I went with Tamiya Fluorescent Yellow and backed it with white to get the proper effect, still looks mean although the camera didn't pick up the colour as well as I would have liked
  2. Hi, well just incase you don't know, I've been out of the hobby for 20 years now and am just getting back into it, I have just finished a restoration job and am just waiting for my DF-03 Dark Impact to arrive from Hong Kong (with parcelforce now - due today or tomorrow ) I was wondering if there are any members here that are also from Newbury like myself and nearby and, are there any meets in the Newbury area??? I know that Greenham Common looks pretty awesome for off roading So, are there any other 30 somethings out there nearby re-living their youth lol!!!! Feel free to contact me
  3. I had a Super Sabre, it was my one and only RC car that I had and, although I may not have sold it, I let my dad throw it away with all the radio gear as I thought that I wouldn't be able to get any spares for it anymore!!! Was only when I typed Super Sabre in eBay that I found that there were plenty of spares around did it make me feel truly gutted, to make things worse, looking at this site showed me just how many parts from other cars were the same and therefore compatible, ouch!!!! On the upside though, managed to get a cheap beaten up one on eBay and restored it to it's former glory, even managed to get a Beatties bag to keep it in, the same as the one I used to have!!!! How sad is that lol
  4. Fantastic, thanks for that!!!
  5. Waiting for my Dark Impact to arrive, reading an online instruction manual for it, it shows that Tamyia Instant Cement is to be used on some parts, is this available in the UK and if not, what other glues would be okay to use - is it the same as the standard model kit adhesives? Thanks in advance
  6. Personally I'd go for the Manta Ray, purely because it is so ugly that bashing it up some couldn't make it look any worse , Boomerangs are a cool vintage tamiya to have and would be better all nice and restored as opposed to being a runner - that's only my personal opinion though. Hey, let's hope Tamiya decide to re-release the Boomerang, especially as it was one of their most popular 4WD buggys in the late 80's
  7. Hi, check this link out, it was posted in a thread on this forum about the Technigold motor courtesy of acorn so I can't take the credit for this lol, anyway quite a useful page if you want to know about the Tamiya motors. Hope it helps http://home19.inet.tele.dk/martinjordt/res...tors/motors.htm
  8. Just ordered the DF-03 Dark Impact, I'll get a truck next
  9. lol, join the club!!! Welcome
  10. Okay, I know this is probably a silly question for some of you but I'm gonna ask your opinions anyway. Now that I've finished my Super Sabre restoration I'm using it as a runner at the moment (have another new bodyshell along with chassis, bumper etc. for when I get my new runner and I can restore her back to shelf queen again). I have had my heart set on getting me a DF-03 Dark Impact, infact my mind was totally made up on getting it and hopping it up before installing a Novak Brushless system in it. That was until earlier on today...... I have now taking a liking to...wait for it......a Dual Hunter lol!!! I really like the look of it and I know that it couldn't be further away from the D.I. but purely from a fun aspect it's very tempting although from what I've read, there are quite a few improvements that would have to be made (ball races, oil filled shocks etc.) I know that I'll probably enjoy the D.I. a little more as with speed of course comes fun and also it handles better, so I'm still ebbing towards buying it over the Dual Hunter but it'll be interesting to hear others thought on it, especially as they are both at complete opposite ends of the spectrum
  11. Thanks again guys!!! I have ordered myself a TEU101 ESC and a GP3300 NiMh battery pack so will look forward to breathing even more new life into the Sabre!!! Update!!!My ESC and GP3300 Battery pack arrived today, although the battery pack is still on charge, the difference using the 1900mah NiCd pack is really noticeable, a much more efficient car with a decent amount of runtime, can't wait to try out the new battery pack though!!!!
  12. I am toying with the idea of getting an ESC for it, I was looking on eBay and they are doing the Mtroniks Viper RV11 for 30 quid, I looked at the TEU101 but it says it's limited to a 27T motor and the RS540 Sport Tuned is 23T so wouldn't this damage that ESC? Forget that, I have just seen that it is suitable for the Sport Tuned
  13. Thanks for that guys, now I know that, I can now get more than a measley 15mins runtime from my newly restored Super Sabre (see my showroom)
  14. Okay, I'm not going to make any apologies for asking such a silly question, as I have was only around 15 when I first got into RC cars and even then I only ever had one and it was just for fun and not racing - Now it's 20 years later!. So, here we go - I have noticed when looking at 7.2v battery packs that you are spoilt for choice when it comes to the amount of current they can hold/discharge, I have a 1900mah pack, my question is this - what effect does a higher current have on the car itself? Do you get longer running times? Does it have any effect on the motor or speed controller???? Bear in mind I have a basic MSC at the moment and a Tamiya RS540 Sport Tuned motor. Thanks in advance
  15. Isn't the TEU101BK restricted to a 27T motor, and if I'm right, the new Tamiya RS540 Sport Tuned motors are 23T. Would this not damage the ESC?
