Tamiya R/C from the 80's! Saving up to buy the Tamiya catalogue and then spending huge amounts of time poring over it, heading down to the library to read the magazines every month, fantastic!

Now looking at buying all the cars that I couldn't afford back then - still can't afford them now, but at least in with a shout, and a fan of the re-releases!

An added note to lol at the censoring of my location - darn these Anglo Saxon words!

1. Hey all! I'm looking for an original Frog, one that was built with all the hop-ups / mods and then used and abused. Just to reiterate, I don't want it to look new and I don't mind if it works or not. I'd ideally like it to be painted as per box art. Thanks!
2. Thank you - I thought I was prepared and then discovered I didn't have a clue! Celica provisionally SOLD... will update as appropriate. Just added a few more photos of box and blister damage... Dark lines on the box (particularly noticeable in photo 2) are shadows from the window. www.grassmoon.com/ebay/box1.JPG www.grassmoon.com/ebay/box2.JPG www.grassmoon.com/ebay/box3.JPG www.grassmoon.com/ebay/box4.JPG www.grassmoon.com/ebay/box5.JPG www.grassmoon.com/ebay/box6.JPG www.grassmoon.com/ebay/blister1.JPG www.grassmoon.com/ebay/blister1.JPG Cheers all... am working through pm's in order while the baby sleeps!
3. Hey all So, I bought these while my wife was pregnant with our first child. I figured I'd build them up after the child was born, in the quiet moments you get when you're looking after a baby. It turns out that's not how it goes ! My interest has now turned to cycling and so these are up for sale! Don't know how the market has moved since I bought these, feel free to call me out on pricing. Celica @ £500 excluding shipping Toms @ £200 excluding shipping Collection welcome from Didcot, Wallingford or Warrington! Any questions, just ask. EDITED TO ADD: Please note that the Gr.B inner box has two rips in it, one at either end of the central divider. These are clearly shown in pictures 7 and 8. Less clear is damage to the blister holding the motor. I will take a photo which shows this. Sorry for not putting this in at the start. 4. I've made some svg images of the Tamiya Toyota Toms 58049, based on the top down drawing on the side of the box and the side drawing on the top of some manual pages. Accepting they are not perfect, I think they've come out pretty darn well . In order to make them better / more accurate, I reckon I'd need calipers. The main thing that is off is the height - given by TC as 80mm, these drawings come out at around 83mm . Things to do: * They're currently set in an A3 pdf document that will print them 'actual size'. I was thinking it might be better to create an image with layers so that Photoshop and Gimp users can play easily. * As above, there are problems with the height. I'll try to find my metal ruler to work it out! * The images show all the body markings as on the completed car - in fact there is much greater scope for going freeform as the various scoops and inlets are not moulded deeply in the lexan. This could perhaps be better represented again with layers. Even given these issues, I still wanted to post! I'd be real keen to hear anyone's thoughts on what else might be helpful, and also links to other paint templates would be a plus ! I'll work on finishing these and then start on some for the Toyota Celica Group B Rally Special! I've had some trouble uploading the images to TamiyaClub so have hosted them (temporarily - I need my bandwidth!) myself - any help or advice on getting them hosted here would be appreciated... maybe in my showroom? Anyhow for now, here's the top and here's the sides! And no, I couldn't work out how to get them in the same pdf! Cheers all Makrie
5. So basically, I was looking through Illustration Arino Laboratory (= clicking anything that looks like it might be a link in the hope of seeing a sweet car) and came across a paint job I love! Bearing in mind that besides racing (rarely), bashing (carefully) and sitting on my shelf (mostly) one of the things I'll be doing with the cars is displaying them in my showroom here, is copying what I take to be his original work a reasonable thing to do? I would be applying the scheme to completely different models than he has. My mind isn't made up either way - I'd sure love to try give my cars that look (not that my skills are even a tiny fraction of his, of course!), but also want to be able to display them with pride. Would it help if I credited him with a decal on the cars? Any thoughts? How would you feel if someone did up one of their cars in the same style as one whose scheme you'd designed? Thanks Makrie edited to sort out url.
6. Hey all. I'm writing to ask if anyone knows which currently produced tires and / or wheels with tires will fit the Tamiya RM Porsche 956 / Toyota Toms / Newman Porsche cars. Basically looking to get an old one up and bashing and it would be nice not to have to worry about where the tires are going to come from! Thanks for your time. Makrie
7. Agreed! Having being a seller at two car boot sales this year (please, never again ), the good stuff (not just from our tables, but from everyone) went to those buyers who turned up early and weren't afraid to root through piles of unsorted stuff in the back of the car! Ferocious! That said, I wandered round both as folk were setting up and never saw anything reasonable RC wise. I'd suggest that this site offers a good way to buy or sell!
8. I've been waiting for a chance to post this link... bugselecta! It will let you spec the VW of your choice as you want, kind of (no fancy color types, but is okay to start with!). For the Baja bug, you have to go to the special models section. Anyhow, lots of fun - and in just a couple minutes tonight I knocked up this! Can't wait to see what you decide to do. Makrie edited to see if the little blue manage current attachments buttons would let my picture be displayed full size from the start, but didn't have nerve to click it.
9. Made me smile when I saw it there too - the triumph of hope over experience?
10. Hey Dazaa! Thanks for taking the time to explain this to me, really very much appreciated . As other questions come up (and looking at that Celica gearbox I know they will!), I'll be sure to ask! Hi Chris... PM sent!
11. That sounds just my kind of race - plenty of chances to tie it all back together after things have gone wrong!
12. You bet! Probably not able to get a proper start on things for two weeks or so because of work and family commitments, but up for it for sure!
13. Not there for the Lancia, but for some other cars, check this site for large decal scans - nice enough to vector from, I reckon! Mark (who, tragic as it sounds, loves making vectors of scans!)
14. The same has strated happening to me as well... each of my search chains is getting longer and longer as add in things I explicitly don't want. Ridiculous!
