  1.

That's a good one. I've never heard of anyone who makes scale static caravans before!!

On topic a bit more...... Do you do CNC machining, or gear cutting?? I need a replacement spur gear assembly for a vintage 3 speed. I was watching an aftermarket alloy "hop-up" one on ebay, didn't catch the end of the auction, but when I last looked, it was on 70 quid!! Needless to say, I wasn't the winning bidder. Suggests to me that there are plenty of people out there who need one

  2. I suppose that if there was enough interest, you could always speak to the organiser of a vintage truck show, and see of they would let you book a club area, which you could corden off, then do demo's with the RC trucks all day??

A lot of organisers love this kind of thing, as it's another attraction for the punters ;)

  3. ;) Look on the bright side, an RC car never moans at you, and never fills potential RC storage space with shoes and clothes :P

I'm very lucky, my wife is very understanding/ tollerant of my fascination with RC and slot cars. The only comment I get is to put more shelves up to store them! She does have a super modified TL01, but seldom uses it. I think I have got about 16 RC cars now, and about 100 slot cars, so I guess I am really lucky that she is so understanding.

  4. The whole solvent issue is to do with vehicle bodyshops, and such like, who use over a certain tonneage a year, thus the change from solvent bourne, to water based paints. What makes a mockery of it to me is that after applying the water based colour, it has to be covered with a solvent based clear lacquer!!

There are concessions for paints that are used for hobbyists, so we should be OK, and I would suspect that it is a labelling issue. This is the explanation I have been given by my LHS.

  5. Had the same thoughts last week, while doing the 3 speed tranny on my Blazer. Carefully rebuilt it, carefully sealed between all the joints, put a rubber shielded bearing in the lower casing where the front axle drive shaft comes out, and it still leaks like a sieve!!

Not too worried though, at least it gets an oil change everytime I run it!! As for the oil, I'm using 30W silicone shock oil in mine. It shifts gear really nicely using this :-)

  6. Yeap, I've had similar experiences with cheap battery packs........ recently bought some Nosram 2200 ni-cad stick packs, and they're utter rubbish. Tried cycling them on my ProTrak charger, to see what was up, and they just melted the heat shrink. I now think they are just false economy.

My favourites now are the Tamiya stick packs, which are really punchy, or GP3300's. OK, they do cost more, but they far outlast cheap packs, which I suppose makes them cheaper in the long run:-)

  7. Thanks Geoff,

I guessed the pinion might be interchangable with something else, but I never would have guessed on a Black and Decker drill!!

I'll carry on looking on ebay, never know your luck. At the end of the day, I suppose that one from a Bruiser, or Mountaineer would also fit in place of the HiLux/ Blazer one?? Is the only difference the slipper clutch?

    Cheers,

    Rich :-)

  8. Hi Lars,

Excellent site, and the on-line manuals have been really usefull for my Super Champ, Sand Scorcher, and Blazing Blazer projects. It's been fantastic knowing that there is a site where I can get the info I need on vintage cars.

    keep up the good work!

    Thankyou,

    Rich :-)
