  1. Hi all, is there anywhere online you guys can recommend I go to get Tamiya sized screws/nuts/bolts?? I went to Homebase and Halfords today and they were all way too large! Cheers 28 Yok
  2. It stops the rear axle housing banging into the chassis when driving. You should notice that when you built your LB or MP, little springs (a bit like small safety pins) were used to support the housing over rough ground. These break and you end up with the rear housing (where it joins the main chassis) moving freely up and down. This causes impacts to both the housing and the chassis, and allows the right rear shock to rub the motor, stopping it from working freely. With the 3rd shock in place you get no more banging, a smoother ride and improved control when landing jumps. I also found the standard front shocks too soft when landing jumps (sometimes the bumper would dig into the ground!). I am too tight to shell out for some CVAs for the front so I ended up overlapping two springs on each of the front shocks! Seems to work fine! :Dd
  3. How do you find the chassis brace?? Can you show me a pic of the machine thread bolt mod you described above? Should be painting the MB soon, do you know where I can get a paint pen from?? Have been getting side-tracked by my Wild Dagger resto!!
  4. Thanks Kev. Its a metallic re rel. I always remember the original colours so I sanded the bling off and was pleased to find it was matt black underneath. So all I needed was lacquer! Seen the NIB Pumpkin in your showroom. Have you build it yet???
  5. Thanks Kev, check my Resto thread for progress!
  6. Great! I have been to meets where people have looked at a steep mud bank and said "A Pumpkin won't get up there". BUT Low and behold it does -with a bit of careful steering-!!!! The Pumpkin seems to have a rep for being a bit blunt, which with a few mods becomes much less... blunt. And that's the fun of a Pumpkin, it struggles a bit but when it makes it up a bank of shingle on the 4th attempt, you get a sense of achievement like you really went balls out. Better sorted trucks (of which there are many) need much more adverse challenges to get the same buzz and as a result don't have the same 'character'. I am sure other Pumpkin drivers will agree that you can really feel that the Pumpkin is 'trying' over moderate terrain! Everyone roots for the little guy -right??! (gets down off soap box) Sorry all, went on a rant there. So Leethal Driver, I would say definitely get one!!!!
  7. Thanks Olly! Do you have a pumpkin?
  8. Hi all, Took the pumpkin to the beach today, tide in, but lots of grass mini-mountains to climb! The Pumpkin has really impressed me with it's ability to climb and take punishment. Loads of F-U-N! It has the obligatory 3rd shock mod, full ball bearings, ST540 motor and lowered front end running on 4600 bats. I really love it (and passers by)! Getting some air! Long live the Pumpkin!
  9. Only REAR wheels!!! Has anyone got a front MB wheel????????????????????????????????????/
  10. Thanks Kinpin, looks nice a rugged too!
  11. Thanks BJ, I have messaged him.
  12. Dazaa, could you post some pics of your trailing arm mod?? May need this one day!
  13. Hi all, I need a new MB front wheel for my resto project. I am looking for a vgc wheel preferably un-used I can pay or could swap for a brand new MB rear wheel! Thanks 28 YOK
  14. Thanks Dazaa. Please post some pics I would love to see it.
  15. Thanks Jonny. If that doesn't work I'm gonna get some holy water and perform an exorcism.
  16. Nice one Olly! I am envious! Looking forward to seeing the finished article...
  17. Update, raining all day today so spent the time rebuilding the stripped MB. Had some fun and games with the motor not turning the axles! Took the gearbox apart then realised the pinion was not making contact with the spur!!!! I can laugh now..! Kingpin -you were right about the rear shock connectors, both were cracked. I have used superglue, which seems OK. I will only replace them when they fail completely. The rear shocks had the chunkiest springs ever! I have replaced them with some softer ones off my Pumpkin spares; I am hoping to keep the Beetles rear ON the ground! The 'possessed' ESC of my Pumpkin is still playing up (ran through too many puddles). Jonny Retro advised running it under a cold tap then letting it dry for a few weeks. Have done so, we will see...! So here's the pics to date: Chassis now clean! Taking shape now. Has anyone got a spare new MB Front wheel??? Cheers 28Yok
  18. Yeah Baby! That King Cab is Sweet! Nice pics, ****, I've gotta get one of those!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. OK guys, hope u r all having a fun Halloween?! Body is now sanded, cracks and sticking up bits (that shouldn't be sticking up) have been super-glued, body has been sanded again, and plastic primer added: Ready for that Italian Red...
  20. Cheers Jonny. Good advice there! My ESC went crazy when I turned it back on after 2 nights in the airing cupboard...I changed the ESC, Pumpkin still seems possessed...I then changed the receiver...still crazy! Final I worked out that the ESC needed to be recalibrated! Mystery Over!
  21. Nice, how do you find the EZ run in that? Can you show some pics of the King Cab in the background? Looks awesome!
  22. Hi all, after some excessive puddle riding, my poor pumpkin called time and stopped! On closer inspection I seem to have positioned my ESC below a hole in the loading bay part of the shell. It is a metallic edition. Is the hole there for a reason? Cooling...etc...? If not how should I cover it? Happy Halloween.................Mooo Ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
  23. Good advice 94eg. I guess that it is more a reflection of my driving style! But the power delivery is a little like that... it seems to be slow at first like it is overcoming the gear, then wooosh, maximum attack! A bad workman...! Also I secretly like the feeling of giving it the full beans!
