  1. I recently bought two new packs of 3300 ansamann racing batteries from models in motion, I must say, what a fetid pile of dogdirt they are, I started by charging them on my LRP NiMh charger and got dismal run times from my mad bull (the sort of thing you would get back in the day from a 1200 stick pack from its all night charge!) I assumed it was the car at fault...

Then last weekend I took my F103GT to snetterton with the same cells, I think I got about 5 laps before they were dead flat. A quick cycling and recharge on a friend's Pro Trak revealed why; the maximum capacity i could get from either pack of cells was 980ah, so I can only conclude that these batteries are dross and are fit only to be poked up Ansmann's bumhole.

    Anyone else had similar experiences?

  2. Have recently purchased a Lexan mk1 Escort body whcih has been sprayed bronze to make as close a replica to my real car.

It came with Mexico decals, but I need RS2000 Decals wchich are Orange in colour.

What i want to know is does anyone have any idea where i could get RS2000 decals in orange, or am I going to have to coachwork my own body??

    Thanks.

    Luke

You could probably get your local signwriters to run you some off in orange vinyl, I've a plotter here that would probably do the trick but I've no orange vinyl.

  3. Hi there,

    Another day, another ebay nasty,

I'm after a set of alloy touring car shocks, and a load adjustable turnbuckles, and some ball ends (didn't RPM used to make ball grippers or something?)

Well if anyone has anything i might be able to use, hit me up, I've things to trade and a limited budget for this one.

    Cheers.

  4. I've got one of these too! Very rare now as I've yet to meet anyone else with one (and only one person who'd seen one, the son of the bloke who ran CML) The tires on mine are shot to ******y now though with age. I paid 30 with a mint Cavalier shell.

  5. Well its arrived;

Several things the seller forgot to mention though. The aerial on the tx is bust, the battery clip is missing as were a fair few essencial screws, oh and I think the charger false peaks beacuse I've had about 5 mins playtime with it so far! Grr...

Still i've made it so the steering and throttle work the right way. so hopefully i'll get some use from it. Failing that i'll nick the radio gear and put it into something less pony.

  6. I've found a motor case in my garage,

Its been at least 6 years since i used a modified motor but i have case with the following in:

    2x LRP X generation

    1x LRP X-T generation

    1x Parma 40deg Stock Plus

    1x Reedy Fury 12d

    1x Fantom factory modified

    1xKyosho Xpeed

    1x unlabled Orion

Oh and i also found a purple canned, peak stickered 12*2 hanging out of the ******* end of a mardave ministock, running a 6 cell bodge conversion.

Is all this just junk or do people collect older motors?

  7. I do remember some simpleton at our club putting a screw through the corally battery connectors before a race, which is fine in principal, but in practice his car was ridiculously over geared and soon had the connectors glowing white hot. Melting the wiring and nigh on impossible to disconnect the battery? Good work.

From personal experience, I was modifying the wishbones for my T/Tech Streetwise and ended up stabbing myself in the knee with the full blade of a scapel. Ouch!

  8. Personally I'd look into the second hand market, you can get a lot more for your money especially if its only for occasional use.

Good spec Hpi Pro2 &3s go for not much more than a couple of bodyshell's money, Yokomo Mr4s aren't much more, both I can say from experience are incredibly tough and relatively easy to set up cars.

They are more than capable of taking a hot motor, ideally on the yokomo find one with a nylon spur kit fitted, but not the alloy holder, they are junk.

The hpis should come with a meaty front bumper and nerf wings are a nice addition midships to protect the rear wheels.

    Food for thought.

  9. Hi,

I'm uk based and lately a lot of tamiya kits have been cropping up on ebay but located in hong kong. Now ridiculous postage costs aside, has anyone had any dealings with any of the traders who list there? (forum rules permit me from linking to their auctions)

How were your experiences? Good? Bad? Did it arrive ok or did it require a dustpan and brush to get it all together?

    Cheers!

  10. It was an impulse offer I dropped onto ebay after a few beers and a chinese.

It hasn't arrived yet but is apparently unpainted but stickered up. Nevermind I am not a fan of the stock shell, does it share a chassis with anything else? Could a repro s/s body be fitted?

Is it just a big steaming heap?

  11. 01.jpg

Vixen Honda Accord, questionable paintjob and minor cracks above the front arches. Perfect for a beginner or a basher :) 10

    02.jpg

Traxxas BMW M3, Structurally a very good shell, there is paint wear and bleed in places, but good save for that. Serveral sets of mounting holes. 10

    03.jpg

Parma Escort Rs2000, this shell has a very soggy front end, held up by tape, the paint is **** but it does have a tamiya rear spoiler (with holes where the screws have come through B) ) Worth 5?

    04.jpg

Vixen Skoda Octavia VRS, this has had very little use but again has a lot of different mounting holes. One tiny crack above a rear wheel arch. 12

    05.jpg

Hpi Audi A4 Estate, a well used shell with cracked front arches and poor paintwork, holds up fine over a foam bumper though. 8

    06.jpg

Protoform Mercedes CLK, Solid shell with one small crack and a fair bit of escapee paint. 10

    07.jpg

Tamiya Alfa Romeo 155, The stickers are poor and the front end has a few cracks but the mirrors are still present as is the original spoiler (not pictured) 10

    08.jpg

Hpi Porsche 911 Supercup, 2 sets of mounting holes and a few cracks 8

I'll take sensible offers, and discount on multiple purchases.

  12. Well The time has come to thin out the herd, I've a new house to buy and selling these on will help I hope!

    1) M-01 M-Chassis Mini:

The Shell is well used but fairly solid, its missing the bumpers and mirrors. The chassis is in good order apart from missing a bodypost and the part it screws too.

Its been Hopped up with a pair of oil shocks, quick release battery holder and a full ballrace kit. It is missing the servo to steering linkage.

    2) Hpi Pro2

One of my favourite cars to drive, I only ever used it for indoor events. It was bought as the original owner had moved over to a Pro3. There is a lot of anodised metal which compliments the carbon fibre chassis nicely. It could do with a new main belt as there is a nick in the one fitted. Please note the servo isn't included.

    3) Schumacher Procat:

Oldie but goodie, my muckabout car and the same for most of the previous owners. It does need a new front belt as the current one is well worn and baggier than a prossies pant smile. Most of the undertray screws are non original (see my trade room pics for details)

    03.jpg

    4) Yokomo MR4-TC Pro

Wet Weather special, originally my main car until I bought an mr4 worlds, this comes with an inner body to keep the electrics dry. Its in generally good order but due to getting wet in a garage flood it could do with some new screws here and there, the bearings seem to be fine though. Has the hopped up blue ali wheel hexs, Rear Arb, annodised shocks with adjustable pretension (not shown) and the invaluble nylon front wishbones.

All prices are negotiable, postage is extra, trades are possible. Cheers!
