  1. Ahh, that's the god **** 'auto' correct on safari, i need to find out how to disable it. Sorry about that. Thanks again, I'll look into the ali chassis plate too. prop.
  2. Ok great stuff there, thank you guy's, this is exactly the type of info I was after. Re: the sport tuned motor, I have the RZ motor ( I believe this is the higher revving motor compared to the other which low RPM but higher torque) for my Dark Impact build. Would the standard set-up take the extra power of the RZ or should i go for the RT motor instead? I have a feeling it might not be that simple, but I thought I'd ask... Of the others mentions these I think are the ones that interest me, i don't want it getting too involved Ball bearings, yes they are a must, thank you for reminding me. alu rear bumper cage. I'm looking for a box art finish so this along with the front bumper is what I'd like, but looking on the rchchannel website I can only see the front bumper, do you have a link to the rear? Allow wheel covers. This look very nice and great on yours too waterbed, I'm speaking with a guy here in Hong Kong (RA1028 on the forum) who offers the cover set, and well priced too, so should be able to pick those up locally. stainless screwset, that makes sense, thanks for the suggestion. Ball diff. I understand this will help improve handling, but that about all I know. How on earth do you fit it and where can the parts be found? I'd really like to fit it, but I'm a little lost on this one at the moment so any insight here would be great. Dampers. Could you suggest a good alternative that fit readily? interior. A nice touch, do Tamiya make one? Horizontal bar, that make sense too. Where do I get one from and is it a drop in fit or will a little modding be needed? I like the LED look so yes, that's another to add to the list. Well, I think that's about as much 'extra' as I'd like to add, and I'm confident in being able to do all of them, but yes, some guidance on the above questions would be greatly appreciated, cars are still somewhat of a black magic compared to the R/C planes Also bromvw, what battery are you running? Many thanks chaps. prop.
  3. Hello all, I've been out of car's for a while now, but now living in Hong Kong I couldn't resist the temptation of the Sand Scorcher release, especially when you can buy one new for almost half the price back in the UK. Anyway, i have limited recent experience with tamiya kits (and cars in general, I've mainly been flying R/C for 15+ years) except for the Hummer, Blitzer Beatle and Brat I built and ran a few years back. But what I'm looking for is any advice on essential upgrades for the sand scorcher. I do plan to run it and i do realise that the nature of the beast is not all out wild driving (i have the dark impact for that), but I would be interested in any that might say improve the handling or increase the speed a little etc. With this in mind, is the sand scorcher even suitable for a brushless set-up? I got plenty of speed from the sport tuned motor upgrade in my Blitzer Beetle (but the handling wasn't great), so is brushless even necessary? Seeing as she's mostly made up of metal, would running a lipo (as it is lighter than a Nimh pack) be worth considering, or does the extra weight help the model? Also I would be interested in Alloy rims for her, can someone point me in the right directions as to where to find these? I'm hoping to be able to tap into the strong following for the brand here in Hong Kong, so I hope I can find most items locally. Any help and comments would be greatly received. I could build her stock and be faithful to the old design, but I'd at least like to know what my option are. Actually can someone also tell me what the improvements are to the model over the original? Right ok, many thanks prop.
  4. Selling on my much loved Blitzer Beetle to fund new project. I built the model at the beginning of the year from BNIB but only got it to the point where it could run. Its basically the body that needs finishing but all parts of the remaining kit are supplied for this, glazing, body details, wipers VW badge etc, original decal sheet and the driver and interior. Also you'll get in the box the original speed controller supplied with the kit, instructions, original motor and tamiya hop-up suspension fluid. I upgraded the motor to a Tamiya Super Stock RZ motor and gear to suit. On this set-up she is very fast of a brushed model. Also comes with an Mtronics Viper RV11 esc and Hitec HS-625 metal geared high torque steering servo installed. I can also supply a Ansmann 6 cell 4500 nimh pack. So you'll just need to add a receiver to get her running. I used hubs from a Stadium blitzer as I intended to paint the nose white and keep the main body black, but as is, she can be spray any colour you wish. The model and all components/electrics are in good condition and perfect working order. There was a small crack on the shell which has since been glued and repaired and the rear tyres are a little worn and there are some general scratches to the bottom of the chassis/shell as you'd expect. But again she is in very good condition and has always been kept clean and tidy after each run. In total I've ran her no more than ten times. I'm willing to post or she can be collect from the London area. The box with all the remaining bits will be sent in a separate box to the car if posted, but they will be sent together so you'll get two boxes full of Tamiya magic Open to reasonable offers so please feel free to email or pm me with your offers. Its seems I'm limited to only 500k of attachment space. Until I can find out why, please see link below for picture of my Blitzer: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1119369 prop.
  5. Hi gents, just looking for a bit of advice. A family member has found and old Tamiya Hornet model in the loft of a house they just brought. Being very much a novice in terms of rc cars, I thought I'd bring the question to people that know...that's where you guy's come in Ok so its a Hornet and looks very unused. It has the original box, instructions, 2x1700 tamiya nicads, and futaba attack radio and is basically RTR with no damage, just a little tickering needed I'm sure. Now interestingly it also had the original receipt in the box from 1987 for all the parts! I guess that makes it vintage? It works too. Just out of curiosity I put some AA batteries in the Tx and Rx box, plugged in the nicad, having charged it for just a little over an hour. Away she went, like she was just used yesterday. That did surprise me but I guess it is a testament to the quality of Tamiya. Well now we are just wondering the value of such a thing as this. I thought it may well be worth £100 but I'm really just guessing, so any help on this gents would be great. Thanks, prop.
  6. I had it on there to start with for a buy it now price before a bid was placed. The kit cost me over £100 and the electronics I'm selling with it cost me around £50 and then there's the bearings and the up graded drive shaft. In total your looking at over £200 worth of model. I'd like to get £100 for her, but let me know guy's if you thinks its worth that? I don't think I'm over the mark, its a very good model.
  7. This model is on ebay, but I'm getting fed up of stupidly low prices on ebay...it seems people just want something for nothing. Anyway if any o you guys are interested in a great scale model and can offer me a decent price, its yours. Details of the model below. I'm just looking to see what interest is out there, I guess I should have placed the add here first Description from the bay below: I'm selling on my Tamiya Hummer, airbrushed with a cathing and scale UN white colour scheme. I had to sell on one of my cars for funds, and between the Brat and the Hummer, I decided I would get more use out of the Brat. Anyway this was built from a rare kit imported from Japan last year. It is fully ball raced, has the more powerful Tamiya black Sports 540 motor installed. I've also replaced the original drive shaft for the more efficient and purposeful steel drive shaft from the Manta Ray (this was a listed 'hop-up' in the instructions). The dampers were also upgraded to use hard 1000 damper oil. The Hummer will also come with a Ansmann 12T waterproof esc and a Hitec HS-645MG ball raced, metal geared, high torque/power servo. The rx shown in the image DOES NOT come with the model and WIIL NOT be included. It has been driven and as can be seen the body shell has some knocks etc. But these are all superficial and the actual chassis itself has no damaged (of course there are scratches on the bottom, but this is to be expected) and all parts are undamaged, in full working order and the model has always been cleaned and maintained after use. I'd say I've run this model only 10 time since built. This really is a great scale model of a military classic and does perform in a scale manner. You will just need to add an Rx of choice and a 6 cell 3000-4500mah Nimh to get her up and running. I also have the original box and instruction that can be included apon request. You can collect from the North London area otherwise I will post the model signed for. Insured on request.
  8. Hey guy's just to plug my Tamiya Brat that is on ebay. Any questions please just ask. Any idea what I might expect to get for it? It does seem as if buyers a paying a lot less these days LINK: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=230335514702 Thanks
  9. Managed to break part B8 on my blitzer at the weekend and thus, I need a replacement. I'm pretty sure though these are tough to get hold of (the model certainly was BNIB). I'll take the whole parts B set or just spare part B8 if there is such a thing. Or if anybody knows of a good metal replacement part please do let me know. Cash waiting. (well paypal actually ) Thanks guy's, Prop, BTW search my user name in ebay for feedback.
  10. Hi guy's I'm in need of a NIP hard body shell for a Tamiya brat. If anyone has one spare etc please let me know. I'll pay via paypal, and search my ebay user name for feedback 'propogandhi' Thanks prop.
  11. Whats a 48 pitch pinoin? Is it still 15T? Thanks
  12. I'm wanting to use the stadium Blitzer white wheels on my Tamiya Blitzer beetle and not the supplied orange one's. Does anybody have front pair that they'd be willing to sell? Must be either NIP or Unused but not NIP. Thanks prop.
  13. Hi, I'm in need of a Tamiya 15T pinion for use on my superstock RZ motor in my new build Blitzer Beetle. Must be unused or with very little use, but prefer new. Does anyone have one spare they'd be willing to pass onto me for a small price? I've got a 23T pinoin that you could have also if you wanted. Thanks prop.
  14. Well my Mtronics RV11 arrived today, so I'll put it in the Blitzer Beelte this weekend along with the SuperStock RZ motor. One other question though, it seems I'll need a 15T pinion for the motor...Where is the best place to get this kind of small part, and at a good price? I'll post an add in wanted I guess too. Thanks prop
